tony hawk wishes he could get air off shakespear
Characters: Roxas and all y'all~
Setting: The third floor library.
Format: Whatever floats your boat.
Summary: There's a downside to having a bored teenager as a librarian- they're eventually going to build forts and skateboard ramps.
Warnings: XTREEM SKAETBUARDINZ!!!
The third floor library was usually quiet, sans maybe the sound of people typing on consoles, or chattering while reading books. But Roxas had been doing a lot of nothing lately, and that stagnation never lead good places for him.
So, he'd cleared out shelves of books, and built a crude hangout fort in the library, as well as making an even cruder skateboard ramp. Not his most responsible move ever, but that had always been more Olette's thing anyway.
Go ahead, ask the librarian why he's trying to kickflip off dictionaries. Question how he managed to cart enough books off to make a "usual spot". Don't expect a serious answer, though.

"Come on! You're not moving your knees right!"
no subject
Ven, you may have a flying magic board thing, but that does not make you the skateboard king of the fandom!!!
"Why don't you try it? It's not that easy to do when you don't have magic doing propulsion for you." More of a dare than an insult, Rox collected his board and held it up with both hands at Ven.
no subject
Cocky little shrimp he was, Ven set the skateboard on the ground and hopped on; OK, so wheels were weirder than zero gravity, but nevertheless! He's on and rolling!
no subject
"Now go ahead, try the ramp." Idly, Rox picked up one of the books still on the hoverboard, linefacing at the cover, before setting it back down. "If you can actually pull off a trick, then I'll..." A pause, and he snorted. "I'll give you one of the keychains I have."
no subject
Balance was something that Ven certainly had but yeah, the wheels, took some getting used to. Still, he slid back a bit to get some distance between him ad the book ramp. He stopped his foot on the ground, turned the board around and pushed forward; when he got to the ramp, he was able to roll up it easy enough with momentum, and he was even able to flip the board to rotate under him as he jumped. However, it was when the he tried to land back on the rolling board that he failed, the board sliding awkwardly under him and he went fumbling to the ground with a thud.
Wheels were stupid.
BEST PART OF BACKTAGGING doing it to cause mood whiplash
"Okay- A for effort-" ...and then a moment to dissolve in to giggles again. "See? It's not as easy as it looks."
A more serious, less harsh pause, and he leaned forward on the board. "Which one do you want?"
ow my neck
"Yeah, well it's still easier than navigating through space!" He said mostly teasingly, because ouch his prize.
He hopped back up to his feet and picked up the wheely skateboard as he went. "Surprise me!"

She blinked, once, twice, then casually kicks a couple of the books strewn everywhere into a makeshift speedbump. She could just watch to dodge if the blur goes past again, sure, but she's still looking on this shelf, darnit. She's doing research. It's like a blue moon and everything.
no subject
The blur sped past, doing a heelflip over the speedbump and continuing on like nothing happened.
Troll harder, Sayaka. He ain't stopping for something paltry like that.

no subject
He has acknowledged your effort.
He is prepared for the worst.
Bring it.

One pile of books she was having to lean against to keep in place later, Sayaka realized she really hadn't paid enough attention in class to do any of that fanciness. Well, time to get by on what she usually did: dumb luck and pure perseverance.
no subject
Not that Sayaka could have seen it, but when he saw the all-but-a-wall of literature, he almost stopped. His wheels, however, made a weird locking noise, and instead of properly coming to a hault, he barreled over the stack of books, his torso flopping over them with enough force to send him tumbling over the roadblock, on to his back.
Well played, Sayaka. Well played.
no subject
...you know, she recognizes you!
Did you change your hair a little?Sayaka leans over the decimated volumes that made up Bookington's Last Stand to grin at who she's pretty convinced is Ven."Losing your edge a little, huh?"
Asking if he's okay would be a faux pas. Of course he's fine.
no subject
"I guess so. It's been a while~"
A while since he'd last had a moving obstacle course (man, he suddenly was homesick for the trolleys), but that could really mean anything.
no subject
..actually, there's a thought. Sayaka's had honest trouble keeping up with how long she's been here. The days blur, which was one of the most striking things of all, when before every day was a new travail...
She kicks a silly book on party tricks closed, not wanting to think about it any more.
no subject
"But flattery gets you everywhere." Another chuckle as he got up, dusting his pants to get all the literature dust off.
no subject
"..Months, really..? No way, I don't think I'd lose THAT much time..."
no subject
"I don't think time messes up that much here, but I could be wrong." Roxas stooped down to pick up his skateboard, fixing Sayaka another, more concerned look than before. "Are you okay? You don't look so good."
no subject
She flops down atop some of the ruins of Bookington, frowning.
"Maybe I should start making a record of the days. Scratch notches in my bedpost, that kind of thing."
no subject
"I've always wrote in a journal." He frowned, and put his arms behind his head to try and half-relax. "There's some blank books around here somewhere, I'm sure they won't notice if you take one."
no subject
"I might try that. Just think of it. 'Dear book, day whatever: today I thought something was following me everywhere I went, but never saw what. It's been the most pleasant day all week!'"
and some mood whiplash for youuuuuuuuuuu
Hold on, he has to repress a shudder. Man, maybe this isn't a good topic to be on after all.
"Wait, following you?" Hello, doesn't THAT sound familiar. "What do you mean?"
sayaka is the master of mood whiplash!!
Like minds?
She blinks at his surprise at the comment, tucking a bit of hair behind her hair before answering. "Well, it was just an example. Sometimes the monsters around here are prowl-y like that, anyway."
no subject
"... Roxas?"
... Roxas.
You are the worst librarian
ever.
no subject
"Uh, hey." ...there was really no excuse for what he was doing, was there? "I..." Eventually, he decided to at least try and explain himself, with mixed results. "...was bored?"
no subject
and endearingand-- comfortingly carefree, she supposes."...." She regards him without a word as he attempts to explain himself. She should probably admonish him or something of the sort, right? Only-- things have been a bit rough for her, lately. Seeing something like this, though it does make her a touch worried for his chances of being crushed by books or being punished for his failure to fulfill his librarian duties, she... starts to smile. "Roxas--...." No, she can't even say it, this is just too absurd.
no subject
The structure seemed to have its own opinion on it's own stability, and when the end of the skateboard bonked in to the back "wall", a book slipped out of place. Roxas didn't even seem to notice.
"It'll give me something to clean up later. There's not a lot to do here, honestly."
no subject
Oh.
He wants her to... go in there. Into that precarious, ramshackle fortress of heavy and likely very hard books, none of which are properly secured.
Forgive her if she laughs, just a bit. But fortunately for him her self-preservatory instincts aren't quite up to par, due both to her very young age and lack of experience as well as her own tendencies and lack of self-worth. She's also not very good at telling certain people 'no', and since he's one of those people, well-- "If you say so." She'll just... try to be very careful not to hit anything as she comes over and gingerly attempts to fumble her way into the fort, as instructed.
no subject
"See?" It was sort of snug, and there was a stack of books off to the side of the doorway, peppered with haphazardly placed string bookmarks. "I just miss the hangout back home. My friends and I had a usual sp-" Roxas paused, and gave an awkward look off to the side. "Wait. You'd already know that, huh."
no subject
The girl was looking up at him when he spoke, but lowered her eyes at his last comment, uncomfortable herself. "... Mm. I would." She felt rather as though she should be apologizing.
nams is impervious to mood whiplash
Reminiscing didn't remain a pleasant subject for too long, though, and his smile eventually faded. "...I wonder where Axel and Xion fit in to that. You, too. I guess I'll figure it out someday."
A slightly more awkward pause, and he itched his neck. "...sorry, I always get serious around you."
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
She'd been trying to smile before, but as his smile disappeared, so did hers. She held her tongue, at that question, the answer threatening to spill off of it but kept from doing so by the agreement they'd made, that she wouldn't tell him... yet. Unable to do anything to break that pause herself, she looked back at him, expression sober until he finally spoke. "-- It's alright. It's-- not your fault."
no subject
As he turned into a new area of the library he blinked at the sight before him. He stood and blinked for a few moments, "Hello?"
no subject
Roxas froze, turning slowly and awkwardly, letting his skateboard trail off without him. He'd seen the white-haired guy around the library more than most people, and had eventually realized, duh, he must have also been a librarian. But Roxas had figured they would probably have different hours or something.
"Uh..." He looked around at the mess of books, itching the back of his head. "I'll...I can clean it up."
no subject
"What were you doing?"
no subject
He dropped his hand, and gave Shion a smile. "I'd appreciate the help though. My name's Roxas."
no subject
Even if Shion had died later that same battle it was a debt he did not know how to repay.
no subject
Like today.
What should be a quite spot is not... not so quiet. Ventus will just lineface every time he comes across a book out of place or something and actually scowl when he hears Roxas go past on the skateboard.
What the hell? This is a library, right?] ..... Uh.
no subject
He was, however, not expecting the older Ven, and actually nearly dropped his skateboard when he saw the other blonde.]
Wh- uh!
[Okay well then this was. This was, what was this?]
Um, he...hello?
no subject
Ventus gave a level 'look' at the other. small frown. Was this the younger him? No, that couldn't be right, the walking was different for one. And the voice...] Hello.
[Headtilt. Who are you person who sounds him and Ven but doesn't walk like younger him.]
no subject
That someone is also maybe kind of linefacing as he watches from the shadows, because skateboarding? In the library? Really, Roxas...]
no subject
haters to the left, 'kuIf he was expecting a spectacular fall, he may be slightly disappointed- Roxas could feel the uneven surface pretty quickly, and managed to stop himself in time before he went careening in to one of the empty bookshelves. Of course, he did have to fall backwards on his ass to do so, but a sore tailbone was a small price to pay for not plowing in to a wall.]
no subject
You should be more careful.
[
Will he ever admit to his own hand in this? ......Unlikely.]no subject
[Terra may be serious, but he's not without humor like his Master was. he's watching from a comfortable distance, hands on his hips, but grinning slightly and with an unmistakable hint of both admiration and desire to jump in and try it himself.]
You're pretty good at that.
