Shadows
Characters: Taiki and open
Setting: Graveyard floor and then around the tower, then meadow on the 15th
Format: Either
Summary: Taiki in the event
Warnings: sad kirin, shadows, death in the final prompt
[Graveyard] Taiki crying was nothing new, and Taiki curled up beside Gyousou's grave wasn't new either but today he wasn't curled up, he was digging, his hands covered in dirt as he dug downwards. Next to him was a pair of gauntlets, mangled and covered in blood. Taiki fought dizziness as he dug.
He knew this grave was for the Gyousou who had been here, and the gauntlets were from the Gyousou of his own world, but it didn't matter. Gyousou was Gyousou whichever world he came from. He didn't want to believe he was dead, but as he stared at the mangled gauntlets before beginning to cover them in dirt he couldn't think of a way he couldn't be.
He wasn't alone, his demons weren't there, or at least they were hidden, but he did have a few shadows following him. Whispering at him, things that hurt.
Gohran and Sanshi were banished, because last time Taiki had heard nasty words in the voices of his king they had gone mad and killed people.
That wouldn't happen this time.
To think people call black kirin lucky. Gyousou's voice rang out from behind him. All you have brought is destruction on Tai, and they saved you. Why should you be saved Kouri?
Taiki whimpered as the shadow spoke in Gyousou's voice. What kind of kirin lets his kingdom and his king be lost, while he himself is saved.
[Throughout the tower, during the week] The voices got louder, more recognizable and more cruel. The blue liquid in his collar got paler.
As the week went on the voices weren't those he knew, We could have been citizens of Tai, but now we never will be. Because you failed Taiki His very name was mocking.
He could mostly be found on any of the nicer, safer floors, curled up in corners, arms wrapped round his head crying softly.
You're still crying Taiho? Taiki blinked up at the shadow speaking with his kings voice. Maybe it would have been better if you had never chosen me, if we had never found you, maybe then someone worthwhile could have been saved.
[Meadow, 15th August] Taiki was curled up in a patch of flowers, the shadows sat around him whispering their harsh words. About how he had left them to die, how they could never be, how they had never gotten to live all because of him.
His collar was the palest blue and his eyes fluttered, letting tears escape, the only proof he was still conscious.
