006 | ❝We change as we get older...❞

Characters: Ira (formerly known as Repliku) ([profile] acceptedobliivon) and you!
Setting: Floor 48 (January 4th), Floor 54 (all week. sob.)
Format: Any!
Summary: Twi breaks her hiatus because she can and derped about towerversary last month Riku wasn't the only one to notice a certain absence, but with his life choices it isn't safe to grieve in public...
Warnings: none yet

Option 1 - Floor 48, Jan. 4th
[Ira always had distanced himself from others, knowing that when - not if, when he would accidentally blow his cover with the evil alliance that they would have no one to target. He steered clear of Xion and her so-called "family" as much as he could, very begrudgingly continued to work on the doll floor where he'd been assigned if only for the reason that, once his collar fluid had been changed a second time, he really did not want to, you know, die and go through the powerlessness again. Not to mention he's still a little uncertain what to make of the chipped collar following him. (Or what name to give her; never thought he'd have to come up with another one.)

Yet even before the checkup, he realized something was wrong. Something was missing; a warmth and yet dark something that he couldn't quite pinpoint that seemed really bloody important whether to his own memories, or the real thing's. He couldn't quite pinpoint it for a few minutes, and it wasn't until he passed over the threshold of the clinic floor when he realized something.

Didn't Terra come to those checkups roughly the same time?

...

He nearly flies down the stairs the moment after his collar fluid is switched again, waiting the what feels like an eternity for the elevator to reach the 41st floor and nearly flew up the stairs again. Ira wasn't the one to simply look at doors when he passed by - there were plenty he knew were still there but didn't seem to care about saying hello to a fake like him, and he didn't care either. This one, however-

It wasn't long before he reached the 48th floor and started scanning for familiar names. He found a few; Katsuya for one example. Two he never thought (or wanted to see), however, were right next to each other and still new.

Terra and Aqua.

Sure, he didn't know the latter well; they'd only met once. The former was his teacher; some guy who thought that he was worth teaching even though what he did... what he would do...

Ira feels something caught in his throat, wincing as he looks away and fists clench tight. And here he thought he'd done so well not to get so sentimental or attached.]

...He lost grip on you too, huh. [Somewhere, there might have been a muttering of a few choice words he'd normally never say.] Fine. Guess I'll try and figure out this stupid existence on my own.

[He moves to walk away, like he's always been good at doing, but for some reason his feet feel even more heavy... Wait, when did he fall to his knees? Did he overdo it on the way here?

Stupid collar checkups he totally isn't tearing up either; nope.]

Option 2 - Dorm #2-14 [LOCKED to Riku]
[Usually, Ira was rather early in getting back to the dorm rooms. This is because he normally just teleported when glamour and powers in general worked.

Today was obviously not one of those days and the entire month likely wouldn't as he first exited the elevator a good hour after "nightfall", having sufficiently beaten a tree to as much of a pulp as he could have with an orc sword he knew wasn't real because he'd died with it last month trying to make sure Xion at least didn't die alone. At least he wasn't sporting more than a few scrapes and a bruise for his ventures, to which he jokingly wondered just how much he was going to get scolded for this time since he knew he was going to be powerless after his checkup.

He briefly glances at Riku's bed as he enters, looks at his own, and proceeds to sit on it and let the orc sword clatter to the ground. Maybe when he could start casting spells again he'd get another one. Maybe.]

...You alright? [Not like he could tell the usual way; no powers.]

The REAL Option 2 - Floor 54
[One of the many requirements for not dying after the second time he had his collar fluid switched was, unfortunately, going to work. Unfortunately because while he likes something to do, he hates dolls and puppets and the reminders as usual. Even moreso when he looked at how much time was left on the way up and realized he'd been here thirteen months.

So he sits there, wishing he could set the particular puppet next to him on fire again. You know, just as a little celebration and it was fun the last time. Were he able, he would definitely do it again. Though there is that nameless retrieval unit in the other corner, trying to pretend like Ira hasn't noticed it peeking at him from time to time. Siiiigh.]

[Most people came to the graveyard to be sad about someone 'leaving' the tower. By now, time had numbed most of that sort of sentimentality. He stalked it as a means of seeing new faces left, of names and figures that might be useful as far as information went. There really wasn't anyone left for him anymore, there hadn't been for a while.

Finding someone on their knees in sorrow wasn't new, though it was someone who looked vaguely familiar. He frowned for a moment... had he gotten that boy - those boys' names? How many of them were there?

Silence. He wasn't going to interrupt. He wasn't there to mock this young man, but he didn't feel like interrupting. He would wait for an opportune time to pass, and carefully attempt to pass him by.]

Not long. You're lucky.

[He regards the graves that the other was kneeling at.]

You knew them?

Teacher?

[He doesn't voice his own feelings. He hadn't really known the other, their interactions had been brief and he'd been ignored more often than not.

A twist of bitterness, though. His own teacher had disappeared as quickly as he'd come. How lucky for this one to have had his for much longer.]
