Collar shenanigans (Reno and open)
Characters: Shion, Reno and anyone wandering past room 2-12 who wants to help out or stand and laugh
Setting: Room 2-12
Format: I'll start in prose but am happy to switch
Summary: Both Shion and Reno had their collars switched from Orange to Violet, +5, even though neither of them has powers to be blocked they are barely able to move. There will be a thread between them, and then they will both probably answer anyone who wanders into their room/past their room etc.
Warnings:
Shion didn't like collar checkups, he didn't like not knowing what the orange liquid they put in the collar was. Nor did he like that none of his questions were answered. He had stopped asking them after a couple of weeks, letting himself zone out and think of better things.
So it was a couple of moments before Shion had realised that the liquid going into his collar was Violet and not orange. He was ignored when he tried to inform the person who was in the room with him.
He went back to his room confused, his body feeling heavy and by the time he got there he could barely move. He had to stop and think and moving each limb took concentration. When he got to his room he just stood and stared at the bed, not quite able to make his body sit down.

When he was released, his head started to ache. Each step back to the dorm seemed to get heavier and heavier, until he reached the door to 2-12. There, he stopped, leaning against the door and wondering why everything felt... heavier. Then he saw Shion. Wasn't his collar orange?
"Shion," he managed, blinking hard before opening his eyes again. "What are you doing?"

Not that Reno would admit it, but this was scaring him.

"I don't know what's wrong, why can't we move... what did they do..." His eyes were frightened.

Thinking hurt, it was like his thoughts were going through sludge. He tried focusing, attempting to adapt to the weight, but it wasn't working very well.

"Your's was orange too right..."
no subject
Before now he had been able to ignore the collars, and what they represented. Now he was forced to face that, and the horror behind them. He had seen enough of Hojo's handiwork.
no subject
"Why... what do they gain from this..."
no subject
"Scientists are crazy... fucked up in the head. They'll do anything to screw the rest of us over... it's always been like that." At least it had been on his world. There were too many of the criminally insane inducted into the science brotherhood. "They don't always need a reason."
no subject
"Sorry..." Scientists... he thought about the scientists of No. 6. He knew little of them but had been brought up learning that science was the greatest study. Nezumi kept telling him that there was something about No. 6 he didn't know, and Shion had seen only a fraction of it's cruelties.
Scientists... was it the same here, just an experiment? "I guess not... but... I still wonder what they wish to learn. You don't do experiments for no purpose..."
no subject
"Why do scientists do what they do?" He asked, like it should be obvious. "It's all about results for them."
no subject
There had to be... "We..." Even talking was difficult, moving his lips took all his concentration. "We have to find out... what they want..."
no subject
"Shion," was that a touch of worry in his voice? He looked over at his roommate, having trouble talking like that. "You ok?" If he stopped breathing, he didn't know how he would get any help.
no subject
The fear was doing as much to hinder speech as the collar change was. "Y...you?"
no subject
At least that was something. Reno gained some balance, and literally dragged his knees over to Shion. "Calm down. Focus. Easier to move." Of course, it still felt like he was carrying a load of bricks on each limb.
no subject
He blinked at the words, blinking was about the only movement he could manage. Calm... he had to be calm. He tried to breathe and focus. "We... we're going to die..."
Calm was difficult.
no subject
At least Shion was talking. Now he just had to keep his mind off dying. "Keep talking. Tell me about... uh... Earth."
no subject
Keep talking, he could do that... he took another breath trying to concentrate. If he was talking he was breathing and if he was breathing he couldn't die.
"Earth... it began to die, humans... humans had used up all the resources with war and hatred. But six cities were made, created to be havens for humans to live in." Of course it hadn't quite worked out that way...
no subject
"Yeah? Only six? That doesn't seem like a lot." Relaxing slightly but staying focused seemed to help his ability to move, and Reno propped himself against Shion's bed. "Go on."
no subject
There probably was no such thing, from what Shion had heard of other worlds war, hatred and inequality where everywhere. That didn't mean that Shion had changed his mind about taking down the wall, if he ever got home... If he ever had the chance to save Safu... if Nezumi was even still alive...
But those thoughts were too sad so he forced himself to focus on Reno.

Huh, it really was tiring moving his body that much. "Just start tellin' another story if it happens again."
no subject
"I will. Thank you Reno"
