[Kanaya and Rose were reading, sitting side by side on Kanaya's bed when the lights when out!]

[Barely looking up from her book] Well this is rather inconvenient. [Her eyes adjust quickly and she continues reading, this rainbow drinker novel was really interesting and the sudden power outage wasn't bothering her] Is there enough light for you Rose?

Hallway
[There has to be a light source somewhere, or something that controls all of the technology. Maybe Sollux could fix it!]

[And then there are some voices, she whips around and pulls out her lipstick tube-turned-chainsaw] Reveal yourself.

[It had been Rox's bright idea to try and find his way back to his room mostly by feeling doorknobs and counting. Of course, this plan was fraught with problems from the start...like the fact that he apparently assumed that 1-01 was his room, and opened the door.]

...mn. [He's just tired, he wanted to sleep, damnit where did his bed go...?]

Why Kanaya, I do believe a zombie might have just wandered into our room. [Nonchalant flip of a page, holding her wand up to provide them with a soft stream of light decent enough for reading under.]

[And out comes her wand, and it begins to emit a soft glow of light.] I can make do. Does your species have particularly advanced night vision, Kanaya? [They were right next to each other, not-quite-cuddling. It was more so awkwardly being shoulder to shoulder and too confused to know what to do about the situation. They are 12 and what is romance?]

[ Castiel appears amongst the voices in a flurry of wingbeats, looking very agitated and ruffled. ]

I am Castiel.

[Kanaya glances up and looks at the boy that stumbled in] A zombie, Rose? He rather looks like one who needs to sleep. Much like Karkat does before he passes out.

[she glances at her wand, it's probably safe enough to just use it for light] Trolls are more or less nocturnal, they don't like the rays of the sun. All except myself that is. Because of that the lack of light doesn't really phase any of us.

[She only lowers the chainsaw a little bit]

Castiel? You are the one with the god.

Ah. The same cannot be said for humans. We are active in the day and sleep through the night on the average case. There are some, much like how you yourself are different, who do the opposite. [She leans over a little to glance at Kanayas book.] Interesting?

[And she holds a lighted wand to his face, head tilting slightly.] Ah yes, I believe the three of us have all spoken at some point. I am Rose, and she is Kanaya. I apologize for our aggression, the darkness has brought about many an undesirable situation thus far.

Do you also have some like Karkat who refuse to rest at all? The Alternian sun was too harsh but I very much enjoyed the feeling of the rays. [She tilts the book towards Rose] The rainbow drinker has just saved the young troll from being culled.

Not among my friends, but there are some I am quite sure. I did not particularly see too much of the sun, as you can see by the shade of my skin. I lived in the forest. [She peers.] Please don't tell me you're reading a troll version of Twilight, Kanaya.

It seems that Humans and Trolls have many similarities, even if those similarities differ slightly. It's almost believable that we created your Earth. [she looks at Rose's skin] This shade suits you, I cannot imagine you being very dark, especially with your hair color.

Twilight? Oh, you mean the book you spoke of before. No, this is A Rather Unappealing Girl Who Everyone Seems To Like Anyway Moves Away From Her Hive Where She Meets A Rainbow Drinker Who Everyone Loves And Proceed To Fall In Love And Overcome The Challenge Between A Troll-Rainbow Drinker Romance While Simultaneously Trying To Save The Troll From Evil Rainbow Drinkers And Obtain An Education.

[Cue one ridiculously shocked-confused face combo.]

Uh! [CRAP GIRLS ROOM RETREAT. Which he did without even realizing what they'd said. Thus, he decided quite awkwardly to carry on this discussion from the safety of their doorway.]

Sorry! Er. I didn't... [Frown.] Yeah, I'm not a zombie.

It was a joke. [Lol flustered boy.] Did you need something?

Have you seen David yet? Without the influence of a bright sun, it is shockingly obvious how related we are. It's nice to have a sibling who can keep up with my intellectual level, as well.

...Indeed. Troll Twilight.

[Kanaya covers up a small smile] It's quite alright, you didn't disturb us. You may come in if you wish, although perhaps you would rather get some rest?

The alternate Dave? Yes, we spoke over the network. I am unsurprised that you enjoy his intellect.

[So Twilight is bad?]

I've yet to see what is so horrible about the novel, yes it could be written much better and it detracts from the tale a bit but I'm not finding it a horrible addition to rainbow drinker literature as you seem to think it is.

Oh. [Awk.]

Uh... [Scratches at the back of his hair, still loitering in the doorway.] I was going to, but I'm okay now. [He got scared awake ahaha.] Er, my name's Roxas.

[ The angel frowns at Kanaya, then nods at Rose. ]

The darkness is not in our favor, Rose.

I am Rose. Pleasure to meet you, Roxas.

[ Minato is walking with his sword in one hand, his Evoker in the other (it looks like a gun, but it is not), and he freezes when he hears the chainsaw. Rather than be cut in two, or worse, Minato is normally rather passive, though he makes sure to raise his voice a bit so that he is heard, his tone neutral. ]

... My name is Minato, I'm a captive of this place as well... and not trying to kill you.

[ Please don't cut him in half s-sob akjshfg. He lowers his sword, and Evoker, but he is just a tad concerned. ]

Perhaps the troll version is a bit more palpable to the tastes.

[She'll never willingly read it though.

Unless Kan asks.]

My name is Kanaya, it's rather unfortunate to meet under these circumstances but it is nice to meet you none the less. Are you from Earth as well?

[Earth is so interesting, the people are all different]

Will you give it a try then? It may prove to be much different than the version you keep referring to.

[It seems that this man will cause no harm to them, so she gets rid of her chainsaw, placing the tube of lipstick back in her pocket]

The darkness isn't? What is lurking in it, and if there is no way for us to escape this tower, how did it enter?

[She lowers the chainsaw just a little bit, enough to get a look at him]

[he looks familiar but she takes no chances and doesn't get rid of it completely]

Do you have any information on why this is happening, what is happening, or how to stop it?

... I honestly don't know. I have theories, but I doubt any of them are accurate here.

[ He is very concerned, but luckily, he has the best pokerface. ]

I do know there's some sort of creatures wandering around out there and it isn't safe, however.

Are the creatures anything you can identify? They seem almost like horrorterrors but I was unaware they could attack as they have been.

... No. But they're very close to the ones from my world that only show up during a hidden timeframe. But I'm not seeing water turn to blood here, or anyone else in coffins, so I doubt they're the same.

[ He shakes his head quietly. ]

I encountered some in the halls; they're malevolent.

...Perhaps I will give it a try. But I give you no promises I will enjoy it.

That depends on if we are speaking of a figurative darkness, or a metaphorical darkness within the blackout.

Between us I am sure I am not the only one that has been getting chills, am I Kanaya? As if there are whispers, and we are being followed?

The temperature dropping only occurs in certain places, as are the voices. Who or what is doing this, I am still not certain.

[she closes the book and hands it to Rose] I have read it previously, no need to do so again if you have chosen to read it as well. Please let me know how much you enjoy it.

[she had been getting chills and hearing things]

I take it this is not a normal occurrence for when the power goes out on Earth? It does not happen on Alternia so I'm concluding that whatever may have knocked out the power is also behind what is currently happening.

A hidden time frame? As in part of a timeline that you cannot follow? [if it's that then she understands, but also gets a bit more worried, not that she shows it] Perhaps because the location is different, the effect is also different.

Well... yes and no. But I'm certain it's not that. Those who can access the Dark Hour, as well as fight the monsters within it, need a certain ability that not everyone is born with as far as I know. It's called a Persona. ... And mine isn't picking up the same feelings from this.

[ Neither of them. He is reasonably sure this isn't the same. ]

I think it's just a power outage, and these creatures wandered inside the tower during the momentary weakness.
