[Room 2-06] Trapped in darkness, in silence, even breathing seeming beyond him Suzaku struggled against the sleep paralysis fear building, unable to move, scream, even think. The moment he was able to he sat up, automatically taking stock of his surroundings. His room, in his bed, no pain, he could move all his limbs.

He had gotten out of bed and moved to his trunk to get his cloak before it hit him that he shouldn't have limbs, before the memories of his last moments hit him. Bile rose in his throat and he pressed a fist down on his trunk to steady himself.

So that was what it felt like to explode... A fate Suzaku had condemned so many to, so many millions. A fitting death for him who had taken so many lives that way, that pain, that fear had been their last moments. He felt sick and he took a few deep breaths to calm himself.

The worst thing was he had promised to help Jin, to help make sure Jason did not rise to victory and now he could not. He knew he had betrayed Jin's trust, and he also knew it would never be given again. He couldn't help anyone, not from here and his death had done nothing but buy his group time, before they decided to kill another.

Suzaku closed his eyes, he wanted to cry. But he hadn't cried since Euphemia's death and he was not going to start now. He stood up, grabbing his cloak. Unless the tower had improved since before he was taken; and he doubted it as their captors were more interested in their game, it would be dangerous and he had to be on his guard.

[Later in hallways] Suzaku, now armed with his knife, set off into the tower. Looking for people. A meow sounded from behind him and he turned to see Arthur Suzaku's face lightened but his frown returned a moment later when he saw what Arthur had.

Or at least what Arthur was dragging behind him, one of the tiny winged creatures that roamed the tower, its wings were ripped it's legs broken where it had tried to support itself. There were gashes in its side and it's eyes were flickering wildly. Arthur dragged it up to Suzaku's feet before sinking his teeth into his leg.

Suzaku winced and bent down, "Arthur..." Arthur automatically moved his teeth to Suzaku's finger. Suzaku looked at the dying creature sadly. It mewled at him, a faint pained, frightened noise.

Suzaku closed his eyes again, but he couldn't let the creature suffer; there was far too much suffering in this tower already. Taking his knife he cut the creatures throat.

He looked down at Arthur again who purred happily. Picking up the dead bullfairy in one hand, Arthur curled up in his other arm; teeth sunk into Suzaku's hand Suzaku began to make his way out down the corridor to find somewhere suitable to leave the poor creature wondering if the monsters came back the same way the people did. If this poor creature would have to wake and remember what it felt like to die.

"If they don't show themselves to us often, the natives here may live somewhere else..."

But then why the quarantine for them? He didn't like the idea of that...

"And there's no escape from the tower itself...the floors that open up are too high, and I haven't seen anyone that can fly."

Enoch folded his arms tightly. "...They might be jealous, trying to learn why we can't die so they can have immortality for themselves."

So whatever was outside the tower was deadly. Either that or they were being killed. It was disturbing, but not as much as the misunderstanding of immortality that Enoch knew all too well. To think those with this much power would try to find it...it was certainly worse than a mere death order. Smarter, but...not better.

"...I know. Immortality isn't everything mortals dream."

Finally, Enoch met Suzaku's eyes in a look of appraisal, tinted with sadness and hope at once.

"Are you immortal as well?"

So he was still young. It wasn't the kind of immortality he'd thought, but...that's right, everyone was. It was so hard to get used to this kind of thing after three centuries of being immortal among mortals.

"I see..." He paused for a while. His eyes were drawn to the bullfairy in his hand again, abruptly as if remembering it was there. "I'm sorry, I'm keeping you from dealing with that." Enoch stepped aside, with that, to let Suzaku on if he wanted.

Kururugi...what an odd-sounding name. Oh well, it wasn't as if he hadn't met some people with strange-sounding names back in Meridian. "My name is Enoch."
