Setting: Dormitory hallways
Format: Starting with prose, but happy with either!
Summary: John has just woken up on the second dorm level and wanders around confused.
Warnings: None yet!

John was confused. He was pretty sure this wasn't the medium - it didn't look anything like what he'd seen following Jade on his computer, nor like anything in the clouds.

After the dreams he'd been having, waking up in a dark, cold room was making it hard for him to maintain his usual cheerfulness. He wandered around, investigating the other rooms, but they all looked the same; dark and empty. It was creepy and kind of reminded him of that book Dave was always going on about. That, in turn, reminded him of the scary as hell post-dreamself-death dreams. Maybe he was still asleep?

Eventually, he found the stairs and made his way down.

"Because my last name isn't Egbert, that's Rose!"

"No...Rose is Rose Lalonde. And John Egbert, and Dave Strider, and me."

John suddenly understands fuck all.

"But... that doesn't make any sense!"

"But it's what you told me, when I was ten..." Jade is entirely confused. She steps back just a bit, suddenly wary. Did she drop into a place where no one knows her, not even her friends? That's not heaven at all, or even a dream. That's just cruel.

"Time and space, by all appearances, but yes, that's about the long and short of it." Okay, so John's...behind you? Yes.

"I was on LOGAS at the time. Jade's planet."

"No, I..." John stares at her, confused and dismayed. Does she not like him now that things are weird?

"Okay, this is really weird, but you're still Jade, right? Maybe that's the important thing." He smiles carefully. "And since we're both Harleys, it's kind of like we're twins!"

"Oh man, I knew this wasn't the Medium!" He pauses. "So... where is this? And why are we here?"

Oh no, she's upset him. She's not even sure what she did but she probably deserves it -- her face falls slightly, and she idly chews on her nonexistent thumbnail. He's free to notice the torn state of her hands in the meantime.

"You still act like John...you're my best friend." The last part makes her pause, and she looks up from her studious study of her own shoes to smile at him. "I'd like to be twins."

He grins, completely failing to notice her hands, and pulls her into another hug.

"Awesome!"

O-oh hugs, she can do these. Her return hug is tentative, mostly because she thinks that he might get mad at her. Or worse, that he might disappear.

"Y-yeah. This is pretty cool."

"The Tower, whatever that actually means." And a slightly annoyed gesture around them. "As for the "why", they claim it's because our world was destroyed, but I find that doubtful at best. Earth was already gone."

"So, how do we get back? I didn't even get to have a good look at my land yet!"

"So far as I can gather, John, we don't." Poker face.

"But... we can't just stay here, right?" This is so upsetting. There were frogs in his land, Dave. Frogs.

Ugh. He doesn't like this either, John. "Of course we can't. We've work to do and a war to win, after all. But it seems that, for the moment, we've little choice but to wait."

"A... a war?"

WHY DOES NOTHING MAKE SENSE ANYMORE- NO WAIT.

"Oh! You mean the one between Derse and Prospit, right?"

Been a while since Face and Palm met up. They really don't spend enough time together, they get on excellently. It's been too long. Seems like John has a knack for bringing those two together.

"I'm referring to the game in general, John. Metaphorically speaking." Okay, not so metaphorically, given his current objective for the game when he gets back. Still kind of a metaphor though.

Just you wait, Dave. Under John's influence, those two will soon enough be getting a marriage licence.

"Oh." Metaphors, man. How do they work? "So... how are we getting home?"

Always knew that day would come.

"... ah. Unfortunately, that particular aspect of the plan remains a work in progress."

Meaning he has no fucking clue.

Oh. That makes John pause thoughtfully for a while.

"Well, I guess that's not too bad? I mean, it's kind of dark and creepy here, but it's nothing we can't handle as long as we're together!"

John is an avid believer in The Power Of Friendship.

"I'll admit that it's eased somewhat by your arrival."

David is an avid believer in The Power of Friendship needing to be taken behind the shed and shot.

But John being here is pretty okay.

"What about Rose and Jade? Are they here too?"

Uuuugh. What he wouldn't give to have Rose here. Jade arriving would be fantastic too, of course, but...

"... No. With any luck, they may find their way here. Ah, I did encounter Vantas earlier, however... ?"

John's face falls a little.

"Oh man, that sucks. ...Wait, who's Vantas?"

Ah. [She nods a little to herself.] You are another from David's world then, I presume? Either way it is wonderful to see you, shaggy hair or not.
