But I'm nothing more than a puppet, something someone created
Characters: Xion (
attheclocktower ) and those still in the Tower
Setting: All over the tower, sans the more dangerous floors. Probably more around the dorms, libraries, lounges and floors 32 and 33, though
Summary: Xion's unintentional memorynomming goes out of control and latches onto people it's normally not supposed to.
Warnings: Not sure - will probably depend on what turns up in the memories. :|a Will edit as needed
[Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, suddenly, you'll notice having a slight headache. Just a minor, nagging thing. Maybe slightly distracting, but nothing to worry about, unless you're the sort who worries about that kind of thing. Except that headache will begin to get worse. And somewhere in that headache, you'll feel something - a memory or two. Depending on what that memory might be, you'll hear words, see images, perhaps even feel the emotions you felt back then, though it might be difficult to tell with the pain in your head mounting, quickly becoming almost unbearable.
And then just as suddenly, the headache is gone. And perhaps, so is the memory, or else it is very hazy - like the difference between being able to remember a conversation verbatim and only being able to remember vaguely what was discussed.
Probably, it will only happen once. If you're unlucky, maybe more. But no matter what happens, in all these instances, there will be one factor in common. There's a girl nearby, one in a black coat. Maybe you're passing her in the hall, or close to where she's foraging for food on the forest island floor. Perhaps she's sitting nearby in one of the lounges or libraries, reading a book. Maybe you don't notice her, or maybe you even know her, are talking to her. But whatever the case, she's there, and if you can see her, seems to be struck by the same headache you are.]
[[OOC notes: And with that, Xion's memorynomming mini-plot is up! Feel free to run into her wherever and more importantly whenever. This post runs from the middle of June to around the end, with a break near Ganon's break-in, since she'll be doing her best to participate in that. Near the end of the month she'll probably be more nervous and skittish, though, and be trying to avoid people if possible, though obviously it's not going to work.
If you want to participate it's not too late! Details are here, and feel free to IM me at gorsethewarrior or send me a plurk if you have any questions or want to work out details!
Lastly, feel free to have this be a general reaction post if you want - you can thread with each other and so on if you want to.]

[There it was again. That throbbing in Yuko's head that she couldn't seem to shake. It came and went in waves, making it difficult to concentrate on what she was reading, and it seemed to get worse by the minute. What was she reading, come to think of it? She couldn't immediately tell from the text. She flipped the book over; the cover indicated that she was reading Kafka's The Metamorphosis. It was one she'd been curious about for a while, actually.
She shut the novel, tucking it into her jacket to read it later. As it was, she couldn't concentrate. Maybe she should head back to her dorm and lie down a while. On the way to the stairs, she notices that she's not the only one here, and offers a polite wave to the small girl in the black coat. While she's at it, it couldn't hurt to ask a quick question.]
Hey, um, you wouldn't happen to know where I could find some Tylenol or something, would you?
Floor 4
Minato was taking a short break on this floor when the headache came. He didn't think much about it at first, but his Personas seems to be reacting a little. He asked them, but they seem confused.
This time, after rubbing the side of his temple, he looks up and notice a girl suffering from a headache.]
Are you okay?
[Despite what he just suffered, Minato always default to worrying about other people's well-being.]
Floor 3
[Xion looked up from where her hand was clenched to the side of her head. Her own headache was mounting. It was definitely a familiar feeling, though not in a way that made her any more comfortable.
The person she was speaking to was vaguely familiar, in some way, though she couldn't figure out why, and the pain in her skull kept her from thinking too hard about it.
Not to mention that name didn't sound like anything she'd ever heard of at all.]
Find... wh-what?
Dorm floors
It was a pleasant memory, one of feeding birds and talk of the value of close friendship, and forgiveness for an accident on Steve's part. So for a moment, the pain could be ignored.
Until it couldn't. Clutching his head, Enoch stumbled out of the restroom, hanging onto the door handle until he could brace himself against the wall, not noticing the small young woman in a black robe who happened to be passing by.*

The headaches could be explained by the lack of food, though their group was probably doing better than some, they foraged every day.
What was much more worrying was the fact his memories would often go hazy, Shion had a very good memory, he remembered things in great detail and so it scared him.
They were in his room, Reno had gone somewhere and told them to stay put. With the firedogs roaming the halls it was getting more dangerous.
Fire, it felt like his skin was on fire, he couldn't breathe, he felt like the would shatter and death would be a kindness. Shion felt scared, more scared than he had felt in a while and he wasn't sure why. His head hurt too much to think and he drew his knees up to his chest, cradling his head in his hands.
"Xion?" A glance at Xion showed she had a headache as well.
'You don't know anything Shion' Nezumi's voice... Shion stiffled a sob, the pain in his head was so bad.
'Yet you are still ready to die.' Fire seared Shion's eyes, the pain was unbearable. Tears formed in Shion's eyes, he wasn't sure what was the headache and what he was remembering, but memories weren't often this painful. He trembled where he sat until it was over.
aaaa sorry I'm late ;_;
[She knelt down in front of Xion, to get a closer look at her, her lips curled into a gentle, comforting smile that must have made her look that much more familiar.]
Might be something going around. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

His gaze drifts to the bubbles of water, to the swarms of colorful fish and he really can't help the comparison to his homeworld, to the wide, really endless looking ocean that surrounded the Islands, but somehow he can only remember the time when he had walked right in the middle of the destruction, uncaring of it, forceful winds all around him, tearing at the sands, lifting loose wood up in the air, the sky filled with black, black, angry clouds and the last thing he remembered before that was talking to Sora...
And then the stranger appearing, hooded and hidden, but somehow familiar, a whisper he's heard before... from behind the door with the keyhole in the Secret Place. A whisper and an offer, one that he could hardly refuse, not when it was the one thing he wanted so badly.
He groans lowly, the ache in his head throbbing again - and this really is familiar; it feels similar to the last time powers had one haywire... when Naminé's powers had been forced on him and pulled apart his memory.
...Was that what's going on now as well?]
lower library - ARE YOU RRRRREADYYYY
With Roxas, it was simply frustrating. Of course, his irritation tied in to the memory; how frazzled and at wits end he had been during the pause in the Struggle tournament, flipping out at Axel and dealing with people trying to yank him this way and that...
It was only slightly reminiscent of the tower, if he was being bitter. At the heart of the matter, he was just being childish. He'd taken a nap in the library when he felt the dull ache coming on, and upon waking up it all just seemed like a foggy nettling. Annoying, but not worth fussing over. How much did he not remember, anyway?
Grumpily, Roxas turned over, and covered his face with a book.
Floor 4 - sorry this took so long
[Xion was working on what she hoped was a scarf - especially now that the temperatures in the Tower were unnaturally cold at night again. It was difficult though - with her own headache fading in and out, and her maybe hearing something else, just barely, like mumbling too quiet to make out the words.
She closes her eyes tightly, trying to will away whatever was happening. She hasn't quite realized yet.]
I-I think so.

A... headache? It's odd. He doesn't get headaches. He hasn't in years. Somewhere along the line years of travelling and dimly-lit or musty locations and intense focus and concentration had given him quite a tolerance to such things. It's almost distracting, and he frowns just slightly, one hand reaching up to massage his temple.
His thoughts wander, as if directed, and it's odd enough that he lets it happen, waiting to see where they go when left to their own devices. Rather, he's surprised when he begins to remember...
He'd seen the meteorite go down into the ocean, and spent quite a bit of time attempting to locate it. Gathering reports on the sightings, he'd managed to roughly triangulate its location. The closest he could find was in the reefs along one of the uninhabited, smaller island, and so that was where he went. He was lucky, while the water was deep the reefs made it seem shallower. He was hoping perhaps it had landed on one of the reefs rather than making it all the way down to the ocean floor.
The small boat - of his own design - rocked a bit precariously in the waves. He'd anchored it so that it wouldn't travel too far while he was gone, though he wasn't planning to be gone that long anyway. If something happened and he didn't make it back up in time, then eventually the rope would decompose and the boat would drift away and perhaps someone else would find it and make use of it. Not that he planned to die, of course. If nothing else, he would simply come up empty-handed.
He began to practice his breathing, slowly taking in deeper and deeper breaths in order to ensure he had enough oxygen to last. The time would pass too quickly, he needed to be precise in his dives. He carefully lowered himself into the water, taking as big of a breath as he could, before pushing back and beginning to dive...
The first few were unsuccessful and he was starting to get concerned. Either he'd been completely wrong with this location, or it had gone further down than he was able to go. His head was starting to get light from holding his breath so many times, and his body was starting to ache, but he wasn't going to give up. Not until he found some sign of its passage, or he couldn't go on. He took another big breath, closing his eyes to keep his head from spinning, ducking back under the water and pushing himself down with powerful strokes to a section of the reef he hadn't checked out.
The fish zipped away as they sensed his approach, and he pushed on carefully, trying not to burn through the oxygen, looking around carefully. The reefs were a marvelous pearly white here, with bright pink and green anemones waving their tendrils gently in the currents while drapings of sea plants were everywhere, strange dark green with what looked like yellow buds. Sea life was fascinating, but there was little time to appreciate it. His head swung around, hair floating about him like a halo of grey. Soon he'd have to go back up, but...
There, in a corner, a marring in the surface of the coral. Something blackened and cracked, not the natural contour. He paddled over to it quickly, reaching out, fingers questing along the broken part of the coral, prodding in until he found something with a different texture... it was hard to see, but it was darker too...
He felt as though he was going to burst, his lungs screaming for air, and he pushed back up to the surface, gasping as he breached, but still smiling. He'd found what he was looking for. He fixed the location in his mind, counting the strokes it took him to get back to his boat carefully so that he wouldn't lose it. As he wearily pulled himself into the craft, curling up for the moment to rest, he couldn't help but think triumphant thoughts. "Soon.... soon I'll be able to leave..."

But no, this wasn't what was really going on and if her instincts were right, she shouldn't be seeing this... Even if the memory didn't seem like a bad one. The voices seemed... calmer? She wasn't sure. Fluttering wings... birds? It's hard to tell, the pain in her head makes it difficult to make out, just as it makes the words difficult to hear.
She tries to shuffle forward, one hand against the wall, but it's difficult. She looks up and around - eyes half-shut from pain, until she sees someone she doesn't recognize standing nearby. Are they the one whose-]
Going to assume this is one of the first times it happened.
"Sh-Shion, I..." she stammered.
Wh-what... why was this happening? She didn't understand. This... she knew this feeling, it'd happened before... but it was so long ago. Why was it happening now? If... if it really was what she thought it was.
But between the pain in her head, and the pain in the memory, it was so hard to focus on rational thought. She buried her head in her hands, trying hard not to cry out.
Please let it be over soon...

okie dokie!
He didn't speak though, his head felt like it would burst, words were too painful. Though he could feel Xion, and his arms around her he could also feel Nezumi holding him down, the pain overriding all thought. From his neck, but also his whole body.
June 30th/Meadow
Holding a little bowl full of little berries he had found in the forest (and tested himself), he had taken a pancake from Floor 38 and a little bit of syrup and tried to make a sort of cake for her.
It was the best he could do. Now all he had to do was find her. Maybe she was hiding on the Meadow, so he headed there.]
Floor 4 - it's alright and I kinda pick a different memory
[Before he can do anything else, the headache returns.
The world was dark. Even though the Underworld was fairly well-lit, there's always that dark atmosphere in the air. It was, after all, the land of the dead.
But he don't mind, as he waited for Minako to come and meet him. Even in this dark land, the people he met will always be a bright spot in his life.
When he saw Minako running over to him, waving cheerfully, there's a warm feeling in his heart.]
Sorry for how late this is... orz
The telltale headache told her that she'd been wrong.
She tries to put a hand out to steady herself, but the wall isn't solid, and she just gets a wet sleeve for her troubles instead, as well as making a loud splash whoever it is can probably hear.
The pictures in her head are half-familiar, the island is one she's seen before, yet dark, crumbling, to the point where it takes her a few moments to recognize it. Destiny Islands. It's falling apart, but why-? And who... who was that? The confusion is enough to distract her form any of her usual thoughts, of trying to get away, find some way to sever the connection between herself and whoever's memory she was absorbing.
Whose memory was this, anyway?]
And then I was late as hell I'm so sorry about this orz
Even though she'd been hanging out so much with Reno and Shion lately... she needed some time to herself, and after she'd already eaten Shion's memories... she was a little bit hesitant about exposing them to that risk again too much. Sometimes she felt so lightheaded, like she was floating, and other times everything felt... over-normal. So she would try to wait out the lightheaded times in places that seemed less occupied. Like here.
Not noticing Master Xehanort in the corner, she sat at a table with a book - her hands were a little too unsteady to work on her sewing at times like this - trying to focus on the words on the pages and wait for the feeling to pass.
Only the telltale headache told her that she wasn't alone, and she winced, trying to look around for the source, before being swept up into the memory itself.
Searching. Looking. Determination and patience. She felt them as she saw the image of the water... The place was familiar, it felt like. Was it... But she'd only been to the play island, so she couldn't be sure...
She's never been swimming before, and the feeling of being underwater for so long reminds her of the dreams she'd had back home - the ones where she was drowning. At the same time, it's mixing with the triumphant feeling of the memory and the pain in her own head. She lets out a quiet whimper, dropping the book and holding her head with her hands. Everything was so mixed-up and confusing during these episodes.

She ended up sitting with her back against a rock not too far from the stairs. It was easier to sit with support, given how much her side still ached. But at least this way she'd be able to see anybody coming, and if they were dangerous, make a corridor away.
Still, it's peaceful though, and with as lightheaded as she feels, it almost feels like she could drift off...]

Hey Xion.
[He wouldn't press her about anything, from how she was feeling to why she was avoiding people. It was all right, and she deserved having her secrets.
Still, he hoped this would cheer her up a little.]
No worries bb
The sound of the book hitting the floor caught his attention, and he homed in on the source of the sound. It was only Xion... if one could say only abut her. She did seem to be in a bit of distress, though he wasn't sure if he wanted to approach her. After all, she'd made her choice.
So am I. orz
The memory continues to play out before his mind's eye; a whispered conversation, a wave of the stranger's hand(?) and suddenly dark flames shoot from the ground behind him, creating a portal, an opening for him to get away and never have to look back.
So he turns after a moment, unafraid of what awaits beyond - surely, it's better than anything that could be found on the Islands, in this storm.
He had already told Sora after all; he's not afraid of the Darkness.]

Reno?
[There's a note of worry. What are you doing here? She's trying to avoid people...
Still, her eyes drift down to the food and widen with surprise. Her stomach lets out a noticeable grumble, eager at the prospect of something that was not lean scrapings from around the Tower or else stale nutritional bars from May.]
Wh-where'd you find that?
