To know about everything
Characters: Enoch and anyone
Setting: Floor 11, all day on the 30th
Format: I'm starting in prose, but I'll match you!
Summary: Enoch is going to test Gandalf's theory by watching a phantom closely, possibly at the expense of his own life if allowed to do so. Please note he can't be convinced to leave the floor before the phantom encounter. (And why would you want to? He doesn't look like he's up to something, does he?)
Warnings: Phantoms being phantom-y? I have no idea yet.
[Morning-Afternoon]
Enoch appears to be camping out on this floor - he's sitting on the edge of the tower, not seeming to mind sitting in the shallow lake the waterfall creates on the floor. Occasionally, he'll stand and walk around the perimeter to stretch his legs, hold his hand under a waterfall, or wistfully admire the flowers and rainbows. He seems...relatively at peace.
Sometimes, when seated at the tower's edge, he'll pull something small from his pocket - if you're behind him, you can see it's a card in a plastic sleeve, and if there's not a glare on it, it's revealed to bear the words My hero. He stares at this card for a while when he does this, sometimes running his thumb over the words. Once, when he thinks there's nobody around, he says quietly, "I will be, if you need me."
[Evening-Night]
He hasn't left the floor all day, save one or two trips to the cafeteria for food or to the dorms for the restroom, no more than ten minutes away each trip. The sun sets outside the tower, casting a reddish glow on the water. As the light fades on the card in his hand, he raises it to his lips and murmurs something quietly against the plastic before standing and returning it to his pocket.
He takes a deep breath of the air outside the tower, squaring his shoulders and holding his head high. There's a worry present in his mouth and eyes that somewhat dampens the determination in his body language, but whatever he's decided to do today, he'll do it.
The light fades away, and Enoch turns away from the tower's edge, watching the lake and the now-reversed rainbows. He's clearly waiting for something to happen.
And it does. A faint noise rings out, a gentle crooning or cooing sound. For a moment, Enoch smiles. If it really is Armaros, he would be trying to calm him, wouldn't he? Unlike any other tower resident who's met a phantom, Enoch deliberately approaches it, quiet splashes marking his steps until the area immediately around him is illuminated for a moment by the glow cast when his armor is dismissed. The phantom continues to coo encouragingly at him as it drains him, and Enoch stares up at it, focused, eyes searching. He's looking for something, anything, to prove or disprove that old man's theory. Death means nothing here, after all. What's one tiny, insignificant death worth here, when he could learn the truth?
His limbs begin to shake with the effort to hold him up eventually, but he continues to watch, breathing heavily as it takes more and more effort to hold his head up and to hold back tears that would cloud his vision. Hearing that sound now hurts him more than he could properly explain.

Early morning
Morning
[It's been a little while since then, and he was still a bit shaken up from the prior events. He decided to visit Floor 11 for some peace to clear up his mind and calm down. He was still a bit depressed over the argument that he started during the Fellowship meeting as well... and not to mention Gandalf's theory about the phantoms and other monsters.... he really needed time to himself.
Though when he arrived, there was a man already there, sitting and looking at something in his hands. He recognized him from the meeting, and from a short conversation he had with the man. Curiously, Kidou approaches and quietly looks over Enoch's shoulder from a few feet away, speaking up after a moment.]
...good morning.

Good morning. *He returns the greeting kindly but automatically, the card in his hand lowering slightly - Kidou might have been able to see the writing.*

I'm used to being awake near this time.
no subject
Ah, really? I don't see that many people up before noon. [He takes a few steps forwards and offers Enoch a smile] Mind if I join you?

Of course, the eventual answer is,* I don't mind.
no subject
...my name is Kidou Yuuto, by the way. I'm sorry we haven't had the chance to actually meet.

*Understatement, especially with the feeling that not even immortals are safe. But this one looks barely out of boyhood. He's not going to saddle someone so young with the knowledge of what immortality entails. The tower itself must be doing enough damage to his sense of innocence...*
My name is Enoch.

[There's a pause]
...so if I may ask, what are you doing out on this floor this morning?
no subject
...Reflecting, mostly, and admiring this level's beauty.
no subject
...may I ask you another question?
no subject
He glances over at him. It's clear he wants to talk...if it's a matter of guidance, he can help. He wants to help. To be useful. To live up to his upbringing as a priest.*
Of course. What is it?
no subject
[Where Enoch didn't speak up about the suggestion....there were a lot of people who were harsh and mad about it, and he didn't very well know Enoch's stand on the subject. He's can't help but think that Enoch is acting how he is because he doesn't very well like Kidou after that mess.]
no subject
Of course not. A truce would be ideal, with a common enemy, but at the same time, those who have proven themselves untrustworthy in the past...
*...didn't want to mess with it because he has a foot on each side. He lets himself trail off. He'll just talk himself in circles.*
If I seem cold...it isn't your fault at all.
no subject
There was one last thing he was curious about.. but he's hesitant to ask, not knowing if he really should or not]
...I saw you holding something earlier...
no subject
"...A memento of someone close to me."
no subject
[He's quiet for a moment]
Were they related to you?
Ack, sorry for the style slip. Spent all day writing in prose...
My dear friend... He suffered so much before he found respite in the world we were in before this place.
Heheh, it's okay!
...by finding respite do you mean... [He died?]

wtf, I could swear I replied to this! I hope you don't mind a backtag due to derp <_<
I don't mind at all!
no subject
*He looks out at the fog beyond the tower.* But if the note we woke up to has any truth to it...
no subject
Hopefully he won't be brought here before that happens... it's not very fun having friends with you in such a dangerous place.
no subject
*A sigh as he folds his fingers gently around the card. Is he selfish for this part of him that wants Armaros with him, even if it would mean here in this terrible place?*
no subject
My sister... she's here with me and as much as I love having her around, I'm always scared something bad is going to happen to her. [He has a few other friends here with him too, but his sister is the most important person to him, and he knows the others can take care of themselves just fine.]
I'm scared of her returning home, because there still is a chance it's really destroyed... but I believe that in the end, we'll be able to go back to our worlds not in ruins, so I would be able to handle it if Haruna was still home. [He's not really sold on the theory of the worlds being destroyed though; You could say he was almost in denial.]
no subject
*Is that all he wanted, himself? No, he couldn't be that selfish...*
I...only want to know he isn't where he was before being rescued by the rift to Meridian.
no subject
[He looks up at Enoch]
...if only there was a way to see those left behind.
no subject
*Enoch glances at Kidou when he feels his gaze.*
I don't know if I was taken from Meridian, exactly. Apparently, the being who was maintaining it was killed, and she sent everyone living there through rifts... Armaros could still be there, or...he could be wherever the rift took him. There's no telling when it was destroyed...
