To risk a serpent's venom

Characters: Enoch and anyone
Setting: Morning of the 14th, floors 10-12
Format: I'm starting in prose, but I'll match you
Summary: Enoch got bitten by a snake monster. A venomous one.
Warnings: um. He may die?

Floor 10 - Aquarium

The puncture wounds on his hand were already swollen. Enoch should have known the monster was venomous. His chest burned, felt tight. There was nothing to lean on.

Eventually he made it back to the stairs and slumped on them for a moment, trying to catch his breath.

It hadn't taken long for him to realize there wasn't candy simply scattered about anymore. That it was what their host had meant when they said it was going to be more difficult. It hadn't taken him long to figure out monsters were the only way, either. So, he'd gone after them. The many-headed snake creature...was lucky, which meant Enoch was decidedly not.

Floor 11 - Rainbows and Waterfalls

Enoch staggered up the staircase, trying to see through his blurring vision if there are monsters on this floor. Off balance, he swayed towards the edge of the staircase...

Floor 12 - Galactic Destruction

You may catch a hint of white or orange in whatever light the projection provides. Approach it, and you'll find a man in an angel costume, either unconscious or just barely so, his breathing labored. Bring your own light, and you'll see a pair of puncture wounds on his right hand, red and inflamed.

There are a few obvious options:

-Given that this isn't a power-nulling floor, someone with the right inclinations might well be able to heal him.
-If you shake him or call his name, he will wake up, very weak and barely lucid.
-His bucket has ~~22 pieces~~ 1 piece of candy in it...

Or of course, you could ignore him. What will you do?

((ooc: Enoch can be encountered and talked to on any of these floors, though if he's cured of the poison before floor 12, that prompt will, needless to say, disappear. So keep existing threads in mind if you tag in. Other than that, well. Have fun!))

Taiki didn't like this floor very much, but he was doing his best to collect candy even though the growing awfulness was making him dizzy and sick.

There was something on this floor, something bleeding and Taiki held on tightly to Sanshi, blinking as he saw the angel.

Then he realised he knew him, it was the man who had been so kind to him in the whale attack...

"You're injured?" If Enoch could still see he would see a tiny giraffe approaching him.

[ Enoch may happen to stumble upon... Well, this would be Gandalf, except he is currently wearing a very threatening armor. He tried to stay alone far from the people, but when he spots Enoch at the staircase. And how bad the, 'young man' looks, obviously hurt or something--

He can't help it and approach him. ... Enoch may recognize a familiar voice at least. And worried ]

[As Richtofen wanders by floor 12, all dressed up and with his own bucket in his hand, he pauses upon seeing Enoch.

Lying down.

Not moving.

With a bucket of candy next to him.

Almost leisurely, Richtofen strolls up, swinging his bucket back and forth. He hums a merry tune, which is accompanied by the sound of a few pieces of candy plunking around in his bucket - definitely not enough to meet his quota. When he's standing over Enoch, he stops and clicks his tongue.]

My, my. You look like you need a doctor.

*Enoch manages to right himself, at least enough to keep himself from falling off the stairs, and sinks to his knees to wait out the bout of dizziness. He turns his head towards the voice, blinking at the vague armored figure.*

Gandalf...?

*Enoch's eyes flick weakly towards the figure looming above him, hints of white and blue in the light of worlds facing destruction.

The only sound he makes is that of his own labored breath. He's definitely aware enough of Richtofen's presence to react, though, as his mouth opens and closes a few times in an attempt to speak.*

[Richtofen crouches down next to Enoch. He can barely see anything, but whenever the light of the projection brightens, it illuminates them both for a brief while. Richtofen's just barely able to make out the swelling and puncture wounds on Enoch's hand.]

Oh, yes, that will need to be treated immediately. [He taps his fingers on the rim of Enoch's bucket, nodding solemnly. He reaches in and grabs a few pieces.] You look very sick.

[He drops three pieces into his own bucket. The plunk, plunk, plunk echoes throughout the room.]

Enoch made a weak groan in response to the noise. He recognized the voice, but the name and appearance weren't coming to mind. What he saw was a vague yellowish blur, and an arm attempted to cover his pumpkin bucket protectively, though it only jerked towards it.

N-... *It sounds like he's trying to protest Richtofen taking his candy, in a vague sort of way that shows he isn't quite aware of his own mouth's movements. His arm jerks a bit towards the bucket, a feeble attempt to protect it, too late.*

[Richtofen shushes him.]

Hush, child, you will only make it hurt worse.

[He tosses another piece of candy into his bucket. Plunk.]

It really is unfortunate.

[Plunk. There goes another.]

I'm sure I could fix whatever ails you.

[Plunk, plunk.]

I am a doctor, after all.

[Plunk, plunk, plunk. He's enjoying this. His voice is almost sing-song.]

If only we were in the infirmary...

*Enoch coughs on a word forced through a too-dry throat.*

N...No... *There's a hint of movement as he tries turning his upper body, a shift of his shoulders. But his body feels heavy and alien.*

[Richtofen keeps going, counting cheerily under his breath as he tosses candies from Enoch's bucket to his own. Finally, he lifts the last piece out, and looks from it to Enoch with a smile.]

Here, I'll let you keep this for being such a good boy.

[As the icing on top of the asshole cake, he places the piece of candy delicately back into Enoch's bucket. Then he stands up and stretches, holding his own bucket up over his head.

He grins down at Enoch. There's latex makeup on his cheek as a part of his costume, made to look like part of his cheek rotted away to reveal his back teeth. The makeup combined with the look in his eyes makes him look positively devilish.]

Now, about fixing you up... Er, how awkward. You see, I'm afraid I can't do that. [His voice takes on a low, cruel tone, and he snaps:] You didn't make an appointment!

[Then he turns on his heel and walks away, cackling to himself as he goes.]

*The only sound from Enoch is a low, seething hiss. If words are failing him, after all...*

Taiki saw the movement, "I wont take any I promise." He looked at him trying to work out what was wrong. But he didn't really need to know everything before healing.

He closed his eyes concentrating. "Heal!" There was a bell chime as the spell worked.

It must have been protective for a reason - Enoch only has a single piece of candy in his pumpkin, impossible given the quota unless the rest had been stolen.

Enoch sighed and closed his eyes in relief as he finally drew a full breath, the weight and heat in his chest gone. Slowly, he drew himself up into a sitting position, his mind slowly coming out of its poisoned haze.

"...Thank you," he said, voice hoarse from the venom drying his mouth and throat. A hand came to rest on the plastic pumpkin at his waist, and he looked down into it.

Only one piece. So it hadn't been some venom-borne nightmare like he'd hoped...

"You're welcome..." Taiki saw the empty bucket as well, he didn't know what happened if you didn't get enough candy but he thought it would be bad. He took a handful of pieces from his own pumpkin and dropped them in Enoch's. "Sorry... you still need more..."

Enoch blinked at the kirin's hand as if he didn't understand what was happening for a moment before looking up at him in concern.

"Do you have enough?" Gathering candy would be hard for someone with blood sickness, after all... Enoch didn't want to be the cause of Taiki's failure.

Taiki nodded, "It's alright... Lord Gyousou doesn't have a costume but he's been helping me collect candy..." So had Sanshi and Gohran, Taiki could afford to give his candy to help people when he was part of a four person team collecting candy for one.

"So you have someone watching over you..." Enoch lowered his head a bit. "...Thank you."

[ Gandalf takes the helmet off and cast it aside. it will be back before long, but that allows him to nod as a reply. ]

Yes. What's happened to you?

[ Not that Gandalf will be able to help him in his current predicament. ]

"My king... sorry... yes he is helping me..." And Taiki felt guilty about that since he was sure there were better things Lord Gyousou could be doing.

"I can give you more... if you need it..."

*Enoch takes a few deep breaths, trying to make sense of the flowers on the ceiling in his fuzzy peripheral vision. Plants didn't go there. It was more disorienting now than it ever was when he was in a normal state.*

A snake monster...

Enoch shook his head. "I couldn't impose..."

In an attempt to change the subject and to keep Taiki from giving up more of his candy, Enoch gave a smile and commented, "You have a kind king, to help one of his subjects personally."

"No it's okay!" Taiki knew what it was like to feel like you were inconveniencing others. He dropped a few more candies into his bucket with a smile.

"Lord Gyousou is very kind, he is a great king." And Taiki was not biased or anything. Not one bit.

"He certainly sounds so."

Enoch didn't mention the candy at all. He certainly didn't want to need to make this pair work harder, after all, and keeping it on topic was sure to make the child's generosity shine a bit too bright... He appreciated that, and badly wanted to comment on it, to commend him for it. But that might put him in danger, after all...

"He is," Taiki tilted his head, "Can you walk... um I can transform if you can't..." He wasn't too heavy to carry in kirin form.

"I think I can..." Dehydration from the venom was just taking its toll, after all. He should go downstairs for water. Carefully, he pushed himself to his feet.

"Thank you for all your kindness...I don't believe we've exchanged names. I am Enoch."

Taiki reached up to support him, even though he was tiny and so wasn't really that much use. "Sorry..." It had been rude not to introduce himself. "It is nice to meet you Enoch... my name is Taiki."

"Taiki..." Enoch nods and gives him a pat on the shoulder. "It's nice to formally meet you, too. You should go and recover what you've given me."

Taiki smiled and then looked worried, "Will you... I mean... sorry... are you alright now?"

"I will be, once I have some water. It isn't so hard to go downstairs for it from here."

He tries to look reassuring. He knows he's probably a mess from all his stumbling around, but he's resilient, he knows. Often more resilient than even he realizes.

"I can get you some..." Taiki stood, "Gohran can wait with you here to make sure nothing else hurts you..."

"I'll be fine, Taiki."

Enoch reached out and gave Taiki's shoulder a pat. "You should go make up for what you gave me."

"Only if you are sure..." Taiki gave him a tiny smile, not wanting to push in case Enoch got annoyed at him.

"I've traveled deserts for years before; a few minutes' travel downstairs is nothing."

He gave Taiki a reassuring smile. "Go now. I'll be all right."

Taiki gave a nervous smile and nodded before turning and leaving; hand in hand with Sanshi.

[ Gandalf really wished he wasn't doted with Sauron's costume right now. He could heal the poison, but while wearing this armor? No chance he even tries, it is far too dangerous. ]

I wish I could help, but given my current predicament, I would do more harm than good.

[ Thinking... Gandalf should probably go for Athelas ~~nevermind Taiki will have healed Enoch by the time he returns with it~~. ]

*Enoch sinks to his knees for stability. He can't properly connect the armor to an inability to help in his state.*

What do you mean?

[ Gandalf extends an hand to help him stand. ]

This armor once belonged to a Dark Lord I shall not mention. My powers could be affected, this is far too dangerous. However I may find a plant to help you...

*Enoch nods, letting Gandalf help him up.* I'll...find stable ground to wait on.

*Of course, when Taiki heals him, he'll probably forget this conversation. He isn't well, after all...*
