[ they had succeeded. somehow, with sam's help, he'd destroyed the ring. it's bitter relief, for the ring still dangles around his neck, still a cause of his many pains, sorrows. and yet--middle-earth continued on. it couldn't be destroyed. ]

It's over, then? Done?

[ there's a strange look on his face, hard to put into words, a terrible relief and joy passes over his face, almost helpless, stunned. he sailed west? how had they allowed him to sail in place of an elf?

yet deep in frodo's heart, perhaps he knew. there was no true going back, was there? sam had not gone, but he had. and he was still gone, many parts of him that could not be easily reclaimed. frodo swallows hard. ]

Many things come to my mind of what you speak of. How a hobbit would be allowed to sail, let alone the reason why I would sail at all. In my heart, I believe I know. But as it stands now, my Quest is not yet finished, Legolas. I have to continue on.

[ he clings to stubborn hope. a fool's hope but there is no other place to find solid ground. ]

I don't believe our home could be destroyed.
