1st hand- SHOWTIME!

Summary: Haken gets accustomed to the tower

Dorm room 1-08 and the floor surrounding it
[Haken wakes up, a little groggy. Saving the world and getting the girl will do that to a man, especially if said girl asks to turn out the lights. Anyways, he wakes up, shrugs his shoulders at the lack of Kaguya. Though, when he realizes that this certainly isn't the Captain's cabin in the Krokodil, and this certainly doesn't look like the interior of a ship at all, that something's amiss. He notices the letter and reads it.]

My world's been destroyed, eh? That's funny, certainly recall kicking the Einst's ass and reuniting the Endless Frontier. Last I checked, that was the opposite of "World's been destroyed." Someone's bluffing here, and I reckon I'm gonna call them out on it.

[He notices that there's other people living here, too. Might as well try and get some answers from them, if they show up. If not, he leaves, taking his things out of his trunk and equipping himself for the day ahead. And potentially the random encounters with monsters. Because there's always those. Anyone in the room or the subsequent hallway, you've got a cowboy-looking fellow with a rather large gun holstered on his back and another on his person. He's friendly, don't worry. He's looking around, as if he's looking for someone.]

FLOOR ONE/THREE
[The first place to start is Always at the bottom. After a quick stop at the cafeteria, Haken heads up a few floors to the library. Better place as any to get answers, but is disheartened to find that he can't find anything of worth.] Talk about a limited collection... At least there'll be some readin' material for downtime.


Floor Eight
[of course. A maze, filled with random monsters. Looks like he took a wrong turn and is face to face with a group of weaker monsters. He shrugs at this. Nothing he hasn't seen before, in fact, he was wondering why he hadn't faced anything like this up until now.]

Figured it was only a matter of time before I got into a scuffle. Alright pardners, it's showtime! Time to put your cards out on the table.

Floor 25
[Boy, Haken certainly gets around, doesn't he? He's wasted no time in doing some exploring, because that's just what one does when faced with a huge tower on the Endless Frontier.]

Well, now I've seen everything. A meadow in the middle of a huge tower. What the heck is this place?

The Library

[Being a librarian was hard work, but Tohko enjoyed it, as she got to spend time with her beloved books and eat when no one was looking. However, when she turned the corner, she heard someone calling the library small. While Tohko doesn't really disagree with that, as some of the shelves are empty, she takes some offense to it, as she does help out here. So she approaches the guy.]

I know, it's terrible that some of our shelves are emptied, but that doesn't mean that we're only good here for wasting time. The books in there are valuable treasures that can fill your belly or save your life.

Floor 25

[Considering the various places Axel would be, this is the one are he had fought in preciously. And when he returned here, well...

...the kid was a lot older than when he had seen him last. AKA, when he was a baby. But that hair and those eyes were entirely unmistakable. Yeah, color him very surprised.]

W00! That is you, isn't it?

[Haken just flashes a smile at the young librarian.]

Woah there, little wallflower. I don't doubt that at all, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for here.

[Well, Haken turns around suddenly at someone calling him that outright. that's a voice he doesn't recall hearing before.]

Man, this day gets weirder and weirder. That's the last thing I ever expected a stranger to call me. Suppose that's who I am, pardner. But who are you?

[He keeps a cautious distance. This might be trouble.]

[Since Tohko knows libraries like the back of her hands, she grins. However, she doesn't let that nickname escape her. Judging by the speech and the uniform, this must be a cowboy. If Tohko remembered her stories right, they usually drank, fought, gambled, tried to be awesome, and..looked for love. Oh dear.]

Well, what are you looking for then? I may be able to help you. And I'm Tohko Amano, the book girl. [The introduction is an attempt on her part to stamp out the nickname.]

[Axel rubs his own head quizically.]

W07 told me that twenty some years had passed since the jump but...it's surprising to see it in person. Last time I saw you, you were just a baby.

[he gives nicknames to everyone. Blame his dad.]Well, Touko, miss Book Girl, I'm lookin' for someone. You seen a princess around here, about...[He puts his hand up to describe her height] this high, with black and red hair and a lovely pair of aces recently?

Also, I'm findin' the history section to be a little on the bare side. Can't find out about anythin' ... if a world's been destroyed someone somewhere must have recorded it in a book.

[Haken lets his guard down, at the mention of W07. If he's met Aschen, that can't be a bad thing. He offers a handshake.]

Yep, Captain Haken Browning. Looks like we've got some things in common, pardner. Wait... W07, so, guess some of the gang's here after all.

So, should I call you "Uncle Axel?" Reckon you ain't much of a father type.

[He laughs. Never a wrong moment to crack a joke]

Yeah, she's around. And already pressuring me on what kind of girls I like.

[Haken isn't an android though so Axel has a very friendly view of him. And takes the offer of a handshake. Goddamn Aschen, man.]

Axel will do, even if I'm more like a godfather than an Uncle.

[Yeah, it doesn't come off as a joke to him.]

[Tohko sighs. She knows what it's like to miss and lose a friend here.] I'm sorry, I haven't. But if I do, I'll drag her over to you, alright?

Yeah..the Administrators cleared out the history section. They've hidden the books, and they're pretty tight-lipped about it, so we have no idea where they are or why they're hiding them. [The Admins are pretty tight-lipped altogether, in Tohko's opinion. However, by the guy's words, she can tell that he's a newcomer.]

As for your world..the Admins here tend to lie a lot, so there is the possibility that it isn't destroyed.

[He chuckles. It feels like he's got a crew already.]

[Tohko grins at that.] No problem. It's the least I can do. And it's Tohko. Not Touko.

[Tohko nods at the mans words.] That they have, and they also put them through horrible and ghastly experiments and games. Most of the people who run this Tower aren't friendly.

[Friend? Friend probably wasn't going to roll. But that would have to wait since there were better things to discuss.]

Beats me. I jumped into a portal after a friend and I woke up here.

Any sign of a cross gate or anything of that nature when you woke up, pardner?

[Haken listens to those words. Well, he certainly doesn't like what he's hearing.]
Forgive me on that, pretty bad with names, as you can tell.
That doesn't sit well with me, Tohko. Can't say I'm a fan of this establishment and I haven't even met the guys yet.

Looks like I found myself in quite an adventure, eh?

It's alright Don't worry about it. [Tohko sighs.] Yeah..not many people do like the Administrators. [Tohko nods.] That you have. If you want, I could tell you a bit about this Tower. That way, you'd know a bit of what to expect.

Floor 8

[Look at who decided to drop by the first block today, Haken. It's a hot snarky paparazzi puncher who just stumbled across you.

It has to be a coincidence, though, because she was looking to see what else the block has to offer--and yet chance wants to have her come across those monsters, too. Well, at least she has the Phalanx on her.

A distinct 'bang' sounds, and a bullet catches one of them, drawing its attention to her instead. Good thing Legion was kind enough to hand her some thermal clips for her guns...]

Never heard of those terms. Actually, I'm used to jumping worlds without things like portals.

[Mio catches sight of the cowboy and nearly turns the other way, but he looks like he's searching for something and she can't quite bring herself to ignore that. So, rather than turning away, she'll approach him with a certain amount of caution, camera in hand. Just asking can't hurt, right?]

Um...are you looking for someone?

[Haken shrugs. Certainly would like to be briefed on what's what around here, and who better to do it than a pretty face like hers?]

Reckon that'd be helpful. Not often I get trapped in a place with a bunch of pretty faces.

I'll admit, not too used to hearing that. I don't recall many places having that sort of technology, but I guess I never really met the folks who made me, either.

Where have you seen Aschen, anyways? Need to get the crew back together so we can figure a way out of this place...because I don't believe a word of what they're feeding us.

[Now, that's a sight for sore eyes. He'll roll backwards, getting himself closer to his newfound ally.]

Now I wouldn't be a gentlemen if I refused the offer of such a hot hotshot. Or at the very least, thanked her for providing some backup.

[and he tips his hat while tossing out some exploding cards in the monster's direction, if it won't kill them, it'll hold them off for a moment while they can formally introduce themselves.]

[Tohko chuckled. While flattery would get him nowhere, it was nice to be complimented for once. Konoha could learn a thing or two from him. Maybe.]

Alright then. First, death here isn't permanent. If you die, you will just wake up in your bed the next day. However, I've heard that if you die too many times, you will get punished, so you still have to be careful.

Second, as far as I know, there are three people running this Tower. Dax, who is a pretty decent and humane guy, Jason, who is cruel, sadistic, and loves experimenting on us, and, finally, Ruana, who is even worse than Jason. They will sometimes force you into horrible games and experiments. They are also prone to lying and are almost impossible to contact. You can trust Dax, but take everything Jason and Ruana say with a grain of salt.

Third, monsters wander the Tower at night. If you don't know how to fight, I suggest you start learning from someone.

And finally, if you haven't eaten anything from the cafeteria yet, don't push away the oatmeal. I know it looks and tastes disgusting, but if you don't eat it first, you'll throw up whatever else you decide to eat. Besides, you can add things to it to improve the taste, and after you eat it, you can eat whatever you like. [Tohko thought for a moment and then nodded her head.] That should cover everything.

Folks? It was just a woman. Someone pretty close to me, at that, but she's not in the realm of the living anymore.

As for W07, she's around somewhere. Probably trying to ruin someone's reputation while she's at it. Do me a favor though, and if you run into someone who looks and sounds like W07 but doesn't have the robotic parts, let me know. I can't be everywhere, after all.
