Summary: It's Saber's birthday! And Hakuno won't be letting her flu get in the way of celebrating it.
Warnings: Cute. Lots of cute.

[Being sick really wasn't fun. Her nose was stuffed all the time, it felt like there was a hammer smashing against the inside of her head, and her body ached no matter how little she moved around.

But if there was one thing that could spur Hakuno on no matter what, it was her determination! And right now, she was determined to at least acknowledge Saber's birthday. She couldn't give her the cake she had been planning to make for her last month, but that was okay. There was something else...

So after grabbing the thing from her trunk, where she had so carefully kept it since Juliet had finished it, Hakuno made her way down to Saber's room and, stifling a cough, knocked on the door. Let's just hope she's still in and not off wandering the tower....!]

[Luckily for Hakuno, Saber has yet to go about wandering. When she hears the knock on the door, she goes to open it right away.]

Oh, Praetor! What brings you here? [Though... noticing the cough and all...] How are you faring?

Hm? I'm fine. [Her sickly pale face says otherwise, but she's managing to hold back her coughing for now.]

I'm here because... well. [She's actually visibly fidgeting with the bundle in her arms.] I have something for you. Since I know what today is.

[It's a little awkward admitting this, since... Saber never told her the date of her birthday. Hakuno is more or less admitting that she may have read a bit more than just necessary research during one of her library trips...]

Today? [It takes her a minute since... Well, it's been a while since she's really thought about her own birthday. With the chaos of the Grail War (and not even knowing what day it was really), there was no time to consider things like birthdays then, and then the chaos of the time even when she was alive... Basically, the fact that Hakuno knows it herself isn't the only surprise about this.

But that's why this touches Saber all the more.]

Do you? Umu, I must admit I am impressed, as well as most pleased by this!

[For some reason, Hakuno... wasn't terribly surprised at the brief pause as Saber tried to piece together the importance of the date - there were many more important things going on. Things that could quite easily distract them...

But she can't help but smile when Saber voices her approval.]

I'm glad you are. [If she was happy just by Hakuno remembering the date, then she should be even happier with the gift... right?] Um... here. Sorry it's not wrapped, I couldn't really find the things I would need to do it.

[She hands over the bundle she's been holding up until now. When Saber unfolds it, she'll find a toga - not something cheap and tacky like the costume Hakuno had been stuck in for Halloween, but a genuine, complete toga. The entire garment isn't solid red, like Saber's current dress. Instead, only the toga itself is red, with gold stitched in along the edges. The tunic underneath is purple, which may seem like a strange choice to an outsider who would most certainly not attribute such a color to the Servant, but Hakuno knows better. Purple was a symbol of nobility in ancient Rome, right? It would make sense for an Emperor to wear such a color.]

... I know this might make your identity too obvious, so you don't have to wear it if you don't want to. But I just... thought it would be nice. To have something that reminds you of your real home...

[When Saber takes it in her hands, the first thought that comes to mind is how impressed she is that Hakuno put this together, and she's truly touched by the gesture. As she unfolds it though, her grateful smile changes into absolutely wide-eyed awe. She holds it in front of her to get a better look at it all together, still absolutely amazed.

While she was always proud of who she was and her origins, there was never much reason to dwell back on those days. Now that she had a certain amount of freedom here, the thought had crossed her mind once or twice regarding things like this, but... To actually see something so familiar, authentic, and made by the person she cares for the most in the world just for her.

By the time she looks back at Hakuno, she looks like she could cry from sheer joy.]

I will wear it, Praetor! Umu, there will not be a prouder nor happier person in this tower when I do. [Absolutely overjoyed, she hugs the other girl.] Thank you.

[Oh1 Well. Oh. She wasn't really sure what sort of reaction to expect out of Saber, so she went into this meeting telling herself not to expect anything at all. So to have her Servant hug her? That was pretty shocking.

... But she couldn't help but smile. She, too, was quite happy right now. She was able to make Saber happy, and that was something she had wanted so badly to do.]

You're welcome, Saber. [She manages to worm one arm out of the emperor's grip, and reaches up to place her hand on Saber's head.] With everything you've done for me... not even this can repay you for it, but it's a start, I think.

[uguu this tower may be shit but this is one of the best things that's ever happened honestly] I am you Servant; it is my duty and my own will to do what I can for you. Repaying me is not necessary... Nevertheless, I truly do appreciate the sentiment.
