Log 014 | Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
Characters: Sephiroth & YOU
Setting: VARIOUS on 3rd, 4th and 5th Feb - See titles for specifics.
Format: 1 x Prose, Exploring: Action (switching is fine - if you could please put the date/floor in when you comment so I don't lose track?)
Summary: Time for Sephiroth totry to get over the recent events in the Tower and go exploring.
Warnings: Standard Sephiroth warning (ie. quick to anger, broody, violent) - especially for the Floor 100 part
>Late 3rd Feb: Dorm 03-02
It's gotten much quieter in Dormitory 03-02 since the elderly man had vanished. No more humming life support machinery from just across the room; instead an empty bed. One less dorm-mate to concern himself with, not that Sephiroth paid any particular attention to either Hidetoshi or Jungo's comings and goings - despite older!Hidetoshi's uncalled-for comment or Jungo's pet. That cat, admittedly had quietened from that first night but Sephiroth still waited for the day it would wander to it's doom on his side of the room - he did sometimes wander if the same rules of no!death applied to the pet.
It could actually have been peaceful had Sephiroth's recent defeats not been eating away at him. After KOS-MOS, he hadn't so much accepted the paralysis as a death penalty but taken more notice of it. It had been longer than the first time. Or at least he thought it had, it's not like there was anyway to tell but his own sense of being. And what state that was in!
Chips in the sanity he had to keep a grip on were becoming splintered cracks; Sephiroth had to keep control here! He'd tried to revisit the gym as his routine dictated but he just couldn't get the image of how his blood had looked on the walls and the associated pain he'd felt, from flashing across his minds eye and invading his senses. How fitting he should relive that - surely it was a way for them to change his routine, to relive another failure! At least, through Hidetoshi getting younger again Sephiroth was able to dismiss the notion that he's had memories deleted; oh and somewhere in his mind is the awareness that those Turks got married - as irrelevant as an itchy toe.
But the building work had stopped. It was a new month for sure and there were new buttons in the elevator - which meant that there were at least 81 floors to this Tower now. If he couldn't face the Gym for a while, at least he could pound the stairwells in the name of exploration. There was nothing like yesterday's collar-check to reinforce what had to be done; in all it's begrudged compliance.
Eventually, inevitably, Sephiroth would fall asleep from exhaustion.

>4th Feb: Exploring Day 1
Floor 59 - Torture Chamber
[Oh no, he's found the Torture chamber. Having no such medieval period on Gaia, (at least as far as Sephiroth can recall!) this room quickly becomes a source of much fascination for Sephiroth and he'll go around inspecting all of it, scrutinizing each piece for it's usefulness. On the rare occasion that torture is a suitable means to an end, there has only ever been his own skills available...Though that Iron Maiden looks a little too inviting, looking as it does with it's gaping jaws open. They must think he was stupid to fall for that one.
Look at all the equipment! The pain and misery that could be inflicted on others here without necessarily killing them! Thoughts lick over the deep-seated hatred he has for only one other - Cloud.]
Floor 68 - Mountain
[Stairwell WTF?! Grassland, beach, desert, volcano. He'd gotten the gist only by quick glances over each floor - each one was the next more extreme environment. Though how that called for the chaos that it accumulated in by Floor 67; Sephiroth was at a loss. For all of the 2 seconds he'd had to consider the additional stairwell looped around this one like a DNA-strand; before the stairwell he was on had decided to lose his next step.
Though after a fashion he'd managed it, leaping quickly from one metal step to the other across both stairwells as had been needed. At least he had his telekinesis and a black wing to assist with his balance as Sephiorth ascended. What fun.
One thing he wasn't going to do though, was waste the hours it might take on this stairwell. Having taken a glance out onto the floor as he did with most, despite the raging wind forcing him to squint Sephiroth could make out how the stairwell wound around the mountain. That wind was fairly strong even down at the base of it and that would undoubtedly get stronger if Sephiroth tried to fly up there; but he figures wind would always be worse in open air. It took effort; being an art of actual flying paired with telekinetic ability, but Sephiroth painstakingly forced himself to ascend the mountain this way. With all of it's avalanche-dodging and those gusts that threw him around off course, away from and towards the mountain more than a few times - always just when he thought he'd found the magic corridor of current that might carry him to the top with the least effort.
After pulling himself back onto the stairwell, an extremely windswept and aching Sephiroth would rest at the base of Floor 69 for a few moments before refusing to let it weaken his resolve. He buried the dizziness and carried on climbing. Wiping away at a slight nosebleed from the psychic toll those last two floors had taken. Damn.]
Floor 81 - Lounge
[What a day. Having no way really to keep track of time other than the light levels he'd left behind several floors ago the sight of the lounge and the lift brought a triumphant smirk to Sephiroth's features. Floor 81. He'd take care tomorrow to count off the floors in his head as he went as he'd almost lost track! After taking the time sat on one of the chairs to make sure his nose would finally stop bleeding (it had started every now and again since Floor 68) - Sephiroth wandered towards the breathtaking view of the cosmos that this floor provided. Though not about to step out into the void, he could look up from the edge well enough.
It had to be getting towards dusk though and after today Sephiroth wasn't much in the mood to have to deal with monsters. He'd take the next lift back to the Dorms, there was a lot he'd seen today, more than enough to think about.]

>5th Feb: Exploring Part 2
from Floor 81 upwards
Floor 93 - The new mandatory corridor-floor
[What a random collection of floors he'd glanced over up until this point. Some scenic and probably most-deadly, some childish, some functional (a hotel? really?) - unlike the gems of the torture room and the sauna that Sephiroth had encountered yesterday there wasn't much that caught his interest today. Though having no choice but to go through this floor made Sephiroth pause to at least regard the pile of building materials. What exactly could be built in a corridor that anyone between the floors above and below had to go through. It's not lost on him how easily anyone could be forced into an encounter with a monster on this floor, it's not night time right now but nevertheless Sephiroth won't linger long here.]
Later 5th Feb: Floor 100 - JENOVA
[He'd seen apparently empty floors before but Sephiroth stepped out onto this one. Maybe it was because this is where Sephiroth logically figured would be the end of the new floors. (There wasn't an elevator for Floor 101, after all!) It would be the dorms above, right?
The illusion presented as soon as boot met floor, might as well have been a fist clenched around Sephiroth's insides. Every emotion he had pulsed in recognition to the sight before him: that reactor. With Jenova as it's center, as he first saw it at Nibelheim with it's godess-like metal facade intact. Protecting and preserving the form inside.
After more than a few minutes stood and staring - it was time to verify. He could walk right up to it easily enough but when hand outstretched to touch the smooth surface of the goddess' face - Sephiroth's expression darkened as leather glove slid through intricate hologram.
Yet another insult to shake his fist at...
Should have been expected, really.]
