Who: Kyousuke Kamijou and The Tower of Despair
What: No one said that he'd still have his sanity after spending time in a ruined wasteland.
Where: All over the Stairs.
When: Whenever
Warning: Muteness, Insanity and other boatload of issues caused by a long alone time.

[He had not been expecting to be pulled back into the tower a few... months? Weeks? Days? of the time he spent in that ruined wasteland. Therefore, when the sleep paralysis subsided, the only thing he could notice apart from Ruana's voice in the intercom was the fact that he's now hungry again, and that things are sort of back to normal with his body.

It didn't take him long to reach the cafeteria, whereupon he had his oatmeal wordlessly, and even less time for him to actually get going to the stairs.

Which would be where you find him, always wandering around the different floors, and yet never stepping outside the boundary the stairs have.

In fact, you might probably mistake him for a ghost or something.]

[After taking care of her library duties and thinking about the past, Tohko walked outside..only to see someone or something that looked like a ghost. She was a little surprised, since she didn't expect to see something like that, and jumped up, shocked and scared.

You see, Tohko was secretly afraid of ghosts.]

Gah! Don't scare me like that! Who are you, anyway?!

[There's a face she hasn't seen in a long time. One that, until now, she's had no particular reason to approach. After all, what reason did she have to approach him in Mitakihara? Even now, there are only his ties to Sayaka--her desire to protect him, the miracle that she gave him--that warrant noticing this boy, who appears to be little more than a wraith.

But here, in a place where one wrong move is repaid with death, that's a pretty strong reason. She can't just ignore it. So, she'll stop her inspection of the greenhouse in favor of walking up to him, a milkshake in hand.]

Oi! You!

...?

[The boy didn't respond verbally, although he did turn to look at the red-haired girl that's currently approaching him with a look that's familiar to that of a clueless guy.]

...

[The boy didn't say anything as he tilted his head at the girl, not really one for words, really.]

...?

[At least there's a look of confusion-]

[Tohko gave the boy a puzzled look in return. Why wasn't he replying? This seemed really similar to another situation she had run into in the Tower.]

If you can't talk, nod your head.

[She frowns a little at the lack of verbal acknowledgement, but immediately dismisses it. Instead she stops in front of him, sipping on her milkshake and giving him a quick look-over. Not that she needs to worry about a guy like this.]

So, you must be Kyousuke. [A moment passes before she clarifies,] Sayaka told me about you.

...!

[There's a small sound of recognition, but considering how talking is pretty much impossible for him right now for reasons he can't really fathom, all that came out is a small grunt.

...

Well, better start writing in a piece of paper and showing it to her.]

"You know her?"

[There's a slow nod from him as he looked pretty passive right now, really.]

[At that, Tohko smiled.]

Alright then. I'll grab you some paper and a pen, alright? Just hang on a moment.

[Tohko, walking past the boy, ran down to the dorm rooms and came back with a sheet of paper that had been torn from her notebook and her pen.]

Sorry for making you wait! Here you go!

[She held the two objects out for him to take.]

[At that, he's going to smile a little, before taking both the paper and pen, before writing one single word.]

"Thanks."

[Tohko would return the smile.]

Oh, you're welcome! I'm glad I could help you out. Now..what's your name? Are you a newcomer here?

Yeah. We're--[There's a slight delay. Just a few seconds, but enough to give a break to her speech. After all this time, she still hasn't quite found the right word for what Sayaka is to her.]--friends, I guess. Or something like that, anyway.

[There's a blank face for a second as he writes on another piece of paper, before he handed it over to her]

"Ah, thank you for taking care of her. She can be really, er, slow, at times."

[After a few seconds of scribbling.]

"It's Kyousuke Kamijou, and you are?"

"It's nice to meet you, Kyousuke! I'm Tohko Amano, the book girl!"

"That's a really descriptive title, isn't it?"

[he'd laugh but he's not in the position to do that right now.]

[Tohko did chuckle at that though.]

Well, it does fit me rather well. However..are you a newcomer here, Kyousuke?

"Sort of, I've been here before, once."

[Oh..at that, Tohko sighed and..tried to pat Kyousuke on the head.]

I'm sorry..I guess you came back from your home world then..

_{[Sayaka sat on the steps, facing out to what seemed to be a simple, if featureless and effervescently white room. She's been here a scant few minutes, occasionally stretching out a hand into the air, just beyond what she considered to be the limits of the imperceptible boundary of 'safe, staircase' and 'unsafe, floor.' Every time she reeled her hand back into the room, she stared straight into her palm: maybe the lifeline would change, shorten, at the exact same rate this place scraped away her memories like a layer of dust. Maybe she would spontaneously know how palmistry actually worked, with all that room freed up in her head.

She'd discovered this floor's trick due to a fluke, and now she's toying with it from sheer novelty; it reminds her of a desperate plea she'd made to... someone, when was it... way back in July? August? The more she presses at the detail, the foggier it gets. Looks like this floor really is taking some effect, even with her just waving her hand at it.

Ghostly as he is, Sayaka barely registers Kyousuke's approaching steps on the staircase behind her.]}

[There's a poke from behind her as the male did just that while descending from the 100th floor; the novelty tends to wear out quickly when all you can see was the sky line of Mitakihara from a rooftop.

And well, considering there's this bored looking, familiar shade of blue just poking her hands into the floor.]

"It's alright, I'm used to it."

[The silence, if it's not completely unsettling, was pretty much soothing for him

And also conducive for someone to go insane if exposed to it for a very long time.]

[At that, Tohko sighed.]

You're..used to seeing everyone around you dead?

[She chuckles as she reads what's written on the paper.]

'Slow' isn't the word for what she is. [She shakes her head. Not like she's any better.] So, what's with the silent treatment? Cat got your tongue?

"You can say that."

[having not used his vocal cords for a long while, his voice was hoarse enough that talking was not viable at this point of time.]

"Staying in a dead world tends to do that to you."

But you know..what you experienced might just be an illusion concocted by the Administrators!

"Illusions or not, it doesn't matter once you experienced it, right?"

[They all felt real to it, and he had memories of it, therefore it happened.]

[At that, Tohko sighed and scratched her head.]

..I guess on some levels, it doesn't..but it doesn't mean you can't stop hoping that your universe is fine and that your family and friends are still alive.

[She considers pushing the matter further, but quickly decides against it.]

So, how long you been hanging around here for?

[She'll leave it to him whether she's referring to this particular floor or the tower as a whole.]

_{[She stops mid-hand wave at the poke, and slowly tilts her head back to see who it is - she ends up having to shift to supporting her weight with her palms, looking up at Kyousuke from upside-down.]}

You... you're back.

_{[She said it as a statement, and that's what makes the rest of her brain catch up.]}

_{[Her hands slide out from under her and she barely misses banging her head on the step, but Sayaka's righted herself and bounced up to her feet in a flash. The smile that's cracked across her face is completely unclouded.]}

You're back you're backyou'reback, for once someone - you - you came back, I can't believe it!

"A few days."

[And not much else, considering he's not really sure how much of a time he did spent on his last stay.]

[Well, at least someone hasn't really changed, to his relief as he saw her looking at the very least happy to see his face, but uh.

He's going to just give a small wave.]

_{[She doesn't think anything's off yet, and it shows in her unlapsed excitement. Forgetting the place, she takes a few steps back off of the staircase and into the null room beyond to get a full look at him. _{Important numbers are what get scrubbed out of her brain this time - room number, mailbox number, her own cell and her home phone that she hasn't dialed in an age.}]}

...And you're all in one piece, too!

[He couldn't speak even if he wanted to, but he decided to follow her anyways as he nodded, and got out a notepad as well as a pen.

...?]

Few days, huh.

[A beat.]

Sayaka know you're here yet?

"Not yet, to be honest."

[He doesn't know what to say to her anyways, so at the very least he's keeping himself scarce for the moment.]
