If we're going by that logic, so did you. Though I'm not sure how much of an existence it was, without chocolate.

[He lets the lightness linger a moment longer, before turning his attention to Diarmuid's answer to his question.

It doesn't, precisely, answer the question he asked, but it does answer the question that he would have asked if he'd been able to speak freely. Funny how that works. Nearly twenty years, give or take, versus two weeks and change. It's not even worth mentioning, when he puts the problem that way.

He hasn't, somehow, forgotten this feeling. Warmth in the company of someone who has any inkling of who and what he is; safety, in the knowledge that he can keep the feeling, even betray it a little without drawing blood because few enough know how Kariya Matou wears this kind of love: on his back, beneath everything else he carries, a last defense.

Should he, then, crush it? Can he crush it completely enough that it won't affect a single action he takes -- and he has acted, without hesitation, without remorse. He knows himself.

He doesn't know what to do. One problem at a time, then.]

... And what about for you? How long does the curse itself keep being spread, usually? [A little chagrined:] I imagine it was a little easier to run away when you weren't shut up in a Tower.
