Characters: Open
Setting: Starting in the dorms, and then wandering
Format: Prose for the first cut, Action for the second, respond however you wish. I'm easy.
Summary: Yet another arrival in the middle of the chaos unfolding in the tower. It's a good thing this one is used to world jumping.
Warnings: Large ham, cheese, possibly leading to violence

The last thing he remembers was floating in the Rift, drifting from one world to the next, wondering where he would land and if it would take him home.

The next thing is him sitting bolt upright in his bed in the dorms.

"What? Where is this? What world is this now?" His voice bellows as he leaps out of the bed, his body landing with a heavy thud. A quick check of his surroundings and himself brings his attention to the blue collar around his neck. Even more distressing, all of his swords seem to be missing.

"WHAT IS THIS? WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS? NOBODY TAKES GILGAMESH'S WEAPONS AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!"

[Gilgamesh roams the halls of the towers seemingly at random. He hems and haws as he makes his way around, looking at different things, bending this way and that, stroking his chin as he takes in his surroundings.

Either he is completely confident in his survival skills, or he has no clue where he is and what's going on around him.]

Are you alright? You look a little lost.

[Soundlessly, chaos has appeared behind Gilgamesh. Whether it was because chaos simply walked quietly behind him or teleported there was anyeone's guess.]

*Someone is making an effort to find hiding places for his friends. This mountain seemed like a good idea at first. And then he nearly got caught in huge rock slides.

As he retreats back to the stairs, he finds someone...normal. Looking completely unperturbed. For a moment all he can do is stare. Were they modified in some way too, despite having a normal collar? Or did they really not know?*

Are you all right? Do you have any idea what's happening right now?

[Gilgamesh whirls around as he hears the voice around him, managing to turn his surprise into what he hopes looks like stylish bravado. It's bad enough he doesn't know where he is yet, being snuck up on is just sloppy.]

O-of course! Everything is fine! But I find myself in a strange new land. What is this place?

[Gilgamesh...just half leaps into the air as chaos sneaks up behind him. The swordsman turns slowly, his shocked pose turning more to a very dramatic kabuki.]

NOT LOST! EVERYTHING IS FINE! JUST EXPLORING A STRANGE NEW LAND!

And who are you?

[chaos was used to this sort of reaction, so he still looked calm and composed when Gilgamesh jumped in the air and turned around.]

I am chaos. And this place is the Tower of Animus, the Tower of Souls.

[Gilgamesh leans in peering at chaos' face.]

Hmmmmm, you don't look like Chaos. Too small, and not gold enough.

WELL! No matter. Animus huh? Sounds interesting. Sounds like there's a lot of strong people here!

[And chaos was..not fazed by that at all. It was hard to faze chaos on a good day.]

It is probably because I am not the chaos you know. People from many different universes are able to come here, all of them with their universes destroyed. However..yes, there are quite a few strong people here.

*Which tells him he doesn't know what's going on...*

This is the Tower of Animus...and right now, it's more chaotic than it normally is. Beware the people with pink collars, they're residents like us, but our host has turned them into abominations that could attack us at any moment.

[Gilgamesh grins and strokes his chin.] Mmmmm, interesting, interesting. This may not be home but this may be the place I've been seeking to find new weapons.

[Wait for it...]

WAIT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN DESTROYED?!

[Gilgamesh nods, listening as things are explained. His own hand slips up and tugs on his own collar.]

What are these things anyway? Last I remember I was traveling between worlds. Usually I can remember when I enter a world...

Perhaps it is. And perhaps it is not.

[And there goes chaos's smile.]

Sadly, that is exactly what I mean. I am sorry.

They anchor us here and keep our bodies alive. Travel to this world is...different.

[Gilgamesh scrunches his face in deep thought, it's not a very pretty image.]

Destroyed? Did Exdeath win somehow? No, that can't be. Bartz and the others MUST have beaten him.

[He looks at chaos again.]

What about the other worlds I've visited?

Hmmmm, that explains why I just woke up here. Usually I remember my arrival to a world.

..As I understand it, Ruana, one of the Administrators here, was responsible for the destruction. I am sad to say it..but the other worlds you know are destroyed as well.

[His face blanches. An impressive feat for one who seems to be wearing kabuki paint. He drops to his hands and needs, hunched over in anguish.]

Bartz....no....we never got our rematch...

[it is quite impressive, but chaos has seen quite a few interesting things in his lifetime. chaos tried to put a hand on the person's shoulder as he consoled them.]

..I am sorry..it is terrible to lose a dear friend. However, there are plans to restore the universes, as I understand it. It may be possible to revive your friend.

Yes...even if traveling across worlds is normal, arrival in this world is the same for everyone. We haven't learned the details of it yet, but the youngest of our hosts, Zo, is the one responsible for bringing us here.

Hmmmmm, then I'll have to find this Zo and ask him why I was brought here! Where can I find him?

[Gilgamesh perks up a bit at that.]

Really? What's the plan?

[He then looks suspicious.]

It doesn't involve gathering legendary weapons does it? I've been burned once already while collecting those!

As of now, I do not know, but I can say that it does not involve collecting legendary weapons. It more involves methods of taking down our captors.

None of our hosts can be spoken with directly unless they wish it. There's a box in the lowest level they can be contacted through by leaving notes. We'll be under Zo's watch after two more months...

*The calm, informative tone slips, then. He doesn't need to ask Zo, and Enoch is even withholding a little information they do know about their arrival here...*

But I can tell you why we were brought here. Those notes are true. The world you were on last...it's gone.

[Gilgamesh frowns now, rubbing his chin with one hand as he mulls over what he's been told.]

That doesn't make sense. I don't think Bartz and the others would let Exdeath win. I knew they could beat him. What was it that destroyed everything?

[Gilgamesh grins, punching a fist into an open palm.]

Ah excellent! When do we begin?

Also, do you know where I can get some swords? Some of my weapons seem to have gone missing.

You may begin whenever you wish. However, you should exercise caution. The Administrators here are quite tricky.

..I am sorry to say that the Tower has no armory. However, there is a workshop on the fifteenth floor. You can make some new weapons there.

Hmmmm, I may have to check it out. They may not be the same as a weapon that has earned its name, but they'd at least keep me equipped.

Right. Chaos. Anyway, time to explore this place and see what it holds!

It's nothing that comes from the worlds themselves...our hosts have likened it to a "virus", a disease as I understand it, that spreads from world to world, taking groups of related worlds at once...

[Gilgamesh considers this for a good long time. Usually he doesn't take on companions, but the only one he has been depending on for so long seems to be missing. Where DID Enkidu go anyway? What form may he take in this world?

Oh dear, he seems to have gotten himself distracted. What was the boy saying? He wanted to follow Gilgamesh?]

Hmmm, I suppose if you want. I don't usually play the role of the bodyguard. But if training is what you're asking for I could teach you how to use a sword.

[Gilgamesh strokes his chin.]

What does this virus do?

[He recalls the time he spent working for Exdeath, and the plan to destroy the crystals to reunite the two worlds, which had a detrimental effect on the elemental forces in the two worlds during the process.]

..You seem to have confused what I was saying. I offered to accompany you so that you would not get killed by whatever new things you might find in this Tower. As for training, I do not need it. I do not fight with a sword.

[He didn't need to.]

It...destroys all life on the world it attacks. Nothing grows, nothing lives.

[He frowns again, scratching at his forehead with his finger.]

Hmmmm, sounds like something Exdeath would want to use. Still, I don't like stuff like that. Anything I can't beat by hitting with my sword is fighting dirty!

[Gilgamesh has met many people who fight without swords and without weapons. Even he knows how to wield many forms of weapons, but swords are his old standby and first love.

He just doesn't get how people could stand to fight without them. It just doesn't make sense.]

Pah! I'll be fine. I'm a warrior and I'll take whatever this tower can throw at me!

[He turns and storms off, pouting just a little bit.]

[While chaos didn't mind the fact that other had a love for swords and other weapons, he could do without them because he fought using his own body, magic, and..his own powers. However, as Gilgamesh started to storm off, chaos followed him, looked rather apologetic.]

I do apologize. I meant no disrespect, but this Tower is new to you, even though you may be an accomplished warrior.

You won't like the way our hosts behave either, then. They may have saved us, but their master believes she's entitled to "play" with us, and another believes he's entitled to "experiment" on us, in return for having rescued us. They are nigh-unreachable, and can kill us with the press of a button. There was one among them who stood against the rest, but...but he was killed for it. For us. The only other one who seems to have any strength of morality is Zo, and he's too young to stand against them.

[Gilgamesh stops walking. He plants his hands on his hips again and looks off down the hallway. He then looks back to chaos with a smile.]

Mmmm, no, your concern is appreciated. This is a new realm though and I must explore it, and I am used to walking alone. Perhaps our paths will cross once more.

[He does miss Enkidu though, but he makes sure not to let chaos see his face.]

I see. And what of the people gathered in this tower? In the world I came from, my own master lead a campaign to destroy the elemental forces of two worlds, and force them to reform back into the single world that had come before.

There were five who stood against him and myself. The sacrifice of the old man, and the bravery of the lad that lead them, they showed me the error of my path. I work now to be worthy of challenging my rival once more.

[He thumps his chest with a look of pride on his face. Now just don't tell him that Exdeath kicked you out for botching the hunt for the legendary weapons!]

[chaos didn't have to see his face to know that this person missed his old friends. It was perfectly normal to do so when one first arrived in this place.]

Perhaps they will. However, be careful. Some of these floors disable powers..and if you ever need an ear, I shall be more than happy to listen.

As I said, they are nigh-invincible as they are. They can kill us with the touch of a button, and at least one has powers that can make our bodies fall apart with a thought. We may find a weakness someday, but until then, all we can do is search for it.

*He's sure the tower residents themselves will be Ruana's downfall. But it can't happen now, not as things are...*

[Gilgamesh listens intently. He doesn't quite get it all, being new here, but he understands that they are being held at the whim of some very powerful people.]

Well what's wrong? What's stopping everyone? Or do you mean that button and powers you just mentioned?

...Yes, that. Fighting them now is futile. And worse, when we die, it is one of our hosts who restores us. Whenever we die, we are at his mercy - it isn't worth the risk yet, of facing his wrath when we are at our most powerless.
