Characters: Garry and you!
Setting: The kitchen and cafeteria.
Format: Action, but I'll switch to prose if you want!
Summary: Backdated to shortly after the end of the event. Garry has just arrived in the Tower, and after freaking out for a while, he's come to the realization that he is going to need something to eat eventually, meaning a trip downstairs is in order.
Warnings: None. If getting something to eat somehow ends up requiring a warning, I will be very surprised.
[Garry is so very unsure about all of this. Waking up to find a letter saying that his world was destroyed? After his experiences in the Guertena exhibit, he's a little skeptical as to the veracity of that, to say the least... but that didn't stop him from freaking out at first anyway.
Said freaking out, however, was eventually interrupted by his growling stomach (and a brief moment of disbelief at his own body-- how could he be hungry at a time like this?) and the realization that just sitting around in the room wasn't going to do him or anyone else any good. That letter had said there was a cafeteria on the bottom floor of the Tower, so that's where he's going to head; once there, he's practically strong-armed into eating a bowl of oatmeal that doesn't do all that much to satisfy his hunger (and certainly doesn't give him a better impression of this place), meaning that he'll end up poking around the kitchen after that to see if there's anything he can use to make a decent meal.
Hmm, at least the kitchen itself isn't too shabby...]

psst hello i am the mun of that garry who enabled you gomen for not apping yet ;w;
Excuse me, are you a new arrival here? [He sure hasn't seen someone with such an... interesting appearance as you..]

Ridiculous! Stocking this many protein bars in one kitchen should be a crime!
[He had been complaining to himself, searching through cabinets and drawers, but upon spotting someone else in the kitchen, he straightens his back. His hair is disheveled, so he blows a puff of air out to get his bangs away from his face.]
Ah, bonjour, sir. How are you?
[He needs to talk to someone, or else he's going to go red in the face from screaming about unpalatable food.]

Good morning! How are you?

You can get food in the forest though! And in the garden.

What she does have, though, is a large cake sitting on her lap, which she is eating of. Sort of weird with only the nutrition bars around, huh.. ]
.. Wha-t, coming to look for food?
no subject
She'd been sticking close to her room for the most part, but with each day and venture out that didn't result in disaster, she regained some confidence. That was why she decided now, since she was really hungry, going down to the kitchen alone wouldn't be so bad.
Once she got there, the sight of nutrition bars wasn't all that appealing, but she was hungry and they were there, so she went with it. She wasn't the only one in the kitchen, lots of people had the same idea, so when she first caught sight of purple hair, she didn't think too much of it. When she took a second look however, everything seemed to stop. Without her knowledge, her feet took her closer and when she finally found her voice, it was made of disbelief and doubt.]
...Garry?
HELLO THERE no worries, I have been terribly slow this month myself
Hey, his appearance isn't THAT odd, thank you. He's just stylish. You're one to talk, man.]
I suppose that would be the best way of putting it, yes... I woke up in this strange place just a little while ago. This is starting to become more of a pattern than I would like...
no subject
[Yeah, Garry hasn't had any luck with finding anything decent either. Ugh. He wouldn't consider himself especially picky, but really. Those things taste like cardboard, or at least the ones he's eaten before did. He's already had more than his fill of stuff that tastes like cardboard no thanks to that oatmeal.]
no subject
He meets that smile with one of his own when he turns to her.]
As well as can be hoped for finding myself in such a situation again.
no subject
[Ugh, how do they expect people to survive in between meals here? That's just too cruel.
And then he notices what the boy is doing.]
Ah... you shouldn't stand up there, it would be dangerous if you fell.
this month has been a pretty slow month all together tbh
...I wouldn't worry about waking up in a strange place ever again.
Well, a stranger place than here, anyway.
no subject
That was the idea, at least.
[And then he spots what she's eating.]
Hey, where did you get that? I couldn't find anything in the cupboards.

no subject
I see..I'm glad to hear that, but if you're a new resident, I could tell you everything I know about the Tower.
no subject
I would hesitate to give them that title, cher. I've been trying to find ways to spice them up, but with such, euhh, limited means... [He looks around the notably bare kitchen with a sour expression on his face.] ...it's rather difficult.
[He sets the protein bar on a counter and wipes his hand off on his shirt, then takes a few steps forward, arm extended in offer of a handshake.]
I'm Francis, by the way. Might I ask your name?
no subject
[ Yup, totally playing innocent. And right after she says it, she dips her finger into the cake's whipped cream before licking it off said finger as if she's thinking. ]
That's pretty weird, since I have this one right here!
aaahhhh feelings ;~;
When he hears the sound of his name, however, the rummaging stops almost instantly. Slowly, as if he can't quite believe his ears, he withdraws his head from the cupboard and turns toward the sound of the familiar voice, almost afraid that he might be hearing things.]
Ib?
[If there was any doubt in Ib's mind as to whether or not it was really him, well...]
no subject
'Careful' doesn't mean anything if you end up falling anyway.
no subject
Would you? Ah, that would be wonderful. Only if it isn't too much trouble, of course. I wouldn't want to keep you from anything else you need to be doing.

[Tohko then took a deep breath and looked over everything in her head before giving Garry an infodump.]
This is the Tower of Animus. Four people now run it-Riki, a secretive man who builds the Tower and is in charge of the records, Zo, a small child who can bring souls here, Jason, a sadistic medical doctor who sometimes experiments on the residents. He, I believe, helps transfer your soul when you die. Finally, there’s Ruana, a woman who has been here for thousands of years and doesn’t quite understand human empathy or emotions, and hates it when people go against her. She may seem sweet, but she is capable of removing free will and cannibalizing her own Administrators.
There used to be a fifth Administrator named Dax. He was the most humane of the bunch and did his best to protect us from Jason and the monsters here. He even managed to sneak people down to the Administrative levels in order to let them know more about this place. However, when he tried to go against Ruana..she killed and ate him, possibly absorbing his powers in the process. He was a good man.
Death isn’t permanent here. If you die, you’ll just wake up in your bed the next day. However, don’t throw your life away for foolish reasons. For one thing, you’ll probably get punished if you die too many times, and for the other…your body is made up of recycled parts. Only your soul was pulled to this universe. Your body, and the ones you’ll have afterward, are not your original body. That’s why you have the collar. It helps make sure your soul safely stays in your body.
I’m sorry to say that your universe is destroyed. You may see people you know here, but they won’t be from your own universe or point in time. I don’t know exactly how our universes were destroyed, but I do know that it was caused by Ruana watching our universes, for some reason.
Monsters roam the Tower at night, and some of the higher floors have monsters that attack if you get too close. If you can’t fight, then I would suggest learning. There are plenty of people here who would be willing to teach you.

... she ATE him? That's gross! How could anyone do something like that?
And what do you mean, my body is made up of recycled parts? That sounds like... ugh! This is all a dream. This must all be a dream. I'm going to wake up in bed and laugh it off because this is just too much... this is so not good for my mental health...
no subject
[Oh... oh, that is not fair. And right on cue, Garry's stomach growls.]
Ugh, that oatmeal didn't make me any less hungry at all. I don't suppose you would mind sharing a slice of that cake, would you? It's rather large for one person.
no subject
Because Ruana hated the fact that Dax was going against her and 'disciplined' him. She's not human..so maybe she wasn't bothered. And I can assure you that this isn't a dream. I've been here for about seven months and died a couple of times as well. This is no dream.
no subject
Are you new sir?
no subject
You don't discipline someone by eating them! Human or not, that's just disgusting! And creepy!
no subject
no subject
By our standards, it is. To Ruana..it's not. That's how different she is compared to most normal humans.
that makes me feel better, at least!
The next thing I know, you'll be telling me that the paintings here are alive.
no subject
[ Sure, Evatrice isn't actually nice enough to share.. but this is all a prank, of course. It looks like a normal cake, but by the time he'll grab a slice of it himself and hold it in his hand, he'll see it as if there's an eyeball in it staring at him.. but of course she's not mentioning that just yet. ]
Su-re, go ahead! We all have to share here, right? [ She puts the cake on the counter, as if she's telling him to go ahead.

Garry. It's nice to meet you, Francis... well, as nice as it can be to meet anyone under these circumstances. This isn't exactly my idea of a pleasant vacation.

I've seen prisons more inviting than this place, my dear.
[He spins on his heel and picks the protein bar back up, then leans against the counter, staring at it with pursed lips. With God as his witness, he will find a way to make these damn things palatable, he swears.
More to himself than anything, he mutters:] Prisons have a better selection of food...
no subject
[Suddenly slightly unsure about this. This man doesn't SEEM like a common criminal, but how else would he know about prison food and what prisons look like?
Oh gosh should he start looking around for a weapon or something just in case?]

Oh, no, no, no! [He waves a hand in front of his face.] Not like that. But when you get to be my age, inutile de dire, you'll find there are few places in this world you haven't been to at least once.
[That's a little bit of a lie. He has been locked up before, centuries ago, almost always as a prisoner of some war or another, but he doesn't need to get into all of that right now. Best to just keep conversation steered toward those times when he was on the other side of the bars.]
