Characters: Miles Edgeworth, Maya Fey and Diarmuid Dia Urbine
Setting: Room 4-16. Backdated to Saturday 10th May (before Apollo and Phoenix arrive in the tower)
Format: Prose but I’ll match.
Summary: Edgeworth and Maya begin their fighting classes with Diarmuid.
Warnings: None that I can think of! Will be updated if necessary.

[After that fiasco with Ryoji, Miles Edgeworth decided that he seriously needed to learn how to defend himself. He had been considering doing so for a while, especially after Diarmuid offered to train him. Edgeworth’s unfortunate encounter with Ryoji during the experiment event, as well as Ryoji moving into his room, was what really affirmed the prosecutor’s decision.

Edgeworth had agreed with Diarmuid to meet in 4-16 to talk the over any sort of lessons. He asked Maya to come along as well as he was growing increasingly concerned about his friend’s safety and well-being in the tower. He did not want her to suffer horribly again.

Any lessons would probably be for self-defense rather than fighting. Edgeworth was no coward but he had no intention of killing anyone – not humans, anyway. He could not take another human life (which was probably why it took him so long to agree to Diarmuid’s training).
Now that the prosecutor thought about it, Diarmuid wielded a spear, did he not? Like the Steel Samurai....

Maybe Edgeworth would learn some fighting techniques which were slightly similar to that of his favourite TV hero?

Probably not, as appealing as the idea was.

When Dia and Maya enter, Edgeworth can be found checking over his notes on the tower. Because your friend has no life and needs to relax more, Maya.]

[While he had not said it out loud at the time, Diarmuid had been glad when his roommate had finally decided to start training with him. As of late, the tower just seems to be getting more and more dangerous even to one as well trained as Diarmuid is. To have to face all of those things without any kind of training is not something he thinks anyone should have to do. Especially when there are so many out there willing to train.

When he enters the room, he smiles slightly, not at all surprised to see Edgeworth pouring over his notes. He might not know Edgeworth as well as he does his other roommates, but he knows the other man well enough to know how in character this is for him.

In fact, his need to research and know is something that really reminds Diarmuid of Waver at times.]

Good afternoon, Edgeworth. How are you doing today? Studying anything interesting?

Oops, this is totally late, sorry!

[ And Maya's totally ready, wearing her usual acolyte uniform before she kicks the door open, grinning wide, placing her hands on her hips, her legs spread wide before she makes the traditional Steel Samurai pose.

Sorry, Edgeworth, Dia.

[Edgeworth notices Diarmuid's entrance, gathers his notes neatly, puts them inside the drawer of his nightstand, stands up and gives his roommate a polite nod.] Good afternoon, Diarmuid. I'm not sure if I could call it in-

[Edgeworth nearly jumps as Maya bursts into the room. He recognises the Steel Samurai pose - obviously - but he is not going to comment on that. Instead he is going to be stern and grouchy.]

....Hello, Maya.

Would it kill you to knock before entering? [Because wow rude, he or one of his roommates might have had no clothes on or something. :|]

[Diarmuid starts when the door is kicked open, his spear appearing in his hand without him even having to think about it. Thankfully, he recognizes Maya from Edgeworth's description of her in an earlier conversation and the spear vanishes again just as quickly.

His confusion at her titling of herself and her pose does not vanish so quickly.]

'The Amazing Mystic Maya'? Would this be a reference to your special abilities, Lady Maya?

[Even if so, that still doesn't explain the odd pose...]

It's your own fault for not locking the door, you know!

[ She'll puff out her cheeks as she closes her hands into tight fists. She's stopped posing because there's no need for it anymore, but. Still. ]

And that's right. Though it's actually respectful to call me Mystic Maya back in Kurain, you know.

Forgive me but last time I checked, in the real world, not all rooms have to be locked to be considered 'private'. [SRSLY YOUNG LADY :|]

[Diarmuid can't help but laugh quietly at their interaction. It might be kind of odd, but it's also heartwarming in a way.

He bows politely to her.]

It's good to meet you, Mystic Maya. I am Diarmuid Ua Duibhne. Edgeworth has told me a bit about you, and I have looked forward to learning more.

It's nice to meet you, um -- [ Yeah, that name is way too long to pronounce. Even though Maya's pronounced weirder. ] I can call you Dia, right?

Diarmuid is quite a rather skilled warrior. [And supposedly a hero from an Irish legend that Edgeworth had heard of but not in great detail. He did not know many of the details and the idea of his roommate being a legendary mythological hero was....disturbing in the least.

Next thing he knew, Santa Claus was going to show up.

However, that was not important for now.] He has offered to give me lessons in self-defense. I've decided to invite you here because I feel that such lessons would be in your interests as well as mine. [SO YOU DON'T DIE AGAIN. ;_;]

Dia? Is something wrong with Diarmuid?

[Suddenly, he wishes he had done more to think of a nickname for himself when he had talked to others about it. Best way to deal with that--change the topic!]

What Edgeworth says is correct. I am well trained with both the sword and spear. I also trained others during my life. I am glad to help both of you so that you can more easily protect yourselves in this place.

Your name's way too long. And besides, Dia's a cool nickname!

[ And besides, nicknames are cool and now it's time to go back to the original topic that they were talking in the first place. ]

Ooh, a spear? That means I can become the true Pink Princess! Or, well, a female Steel Samurai.

[And before Edgeworth even realises what he is doing..] In a sense, I suppose. I highly doubt that a normal person can imitate all of the Steel Samurai's moves perfectly but perhaps Diarmuid might teach you something slightly similar.

I don't suppose I could convince you to call me "The Hawk" or "Hawk" instead? There were people who called me that when I first lived...

[The protest is weak. Diarmuid doesn't seem very confident she is going to think any better of those names than she does his real one.]

Pink Princess? And who is this "Steel Samurai" you two are talking about? Is he a hero of some kind?

Well, you don't really look like a hawk.

[ She'll fold her arms over her chest before grinning wide, eyeing Edgeworth. ]

Why don't you explain to them who the Steel Samurai is, Mr. Edgeworth? [ WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE... ]

Well, I don't know much about it but the Steel Samurai is a live ac- [Wait, Diarmuid is from some weird Celtic legend. Does he actually know what a live action show is?

Okay, let's make the explanation a little simpler.].....a story, popular among children and adults alike. The Steel Samurai is the hero of the story and he protects the innocent from his archenemy, the Evil Magistrate. The Steel Samurai's trusty weapon is the Samurai Spear, with which he performs various deadly attacks.....

[And before he can ramble on more, he suddenly notices Maya's grin and his smirk fades.]

Is there something amiss, Maya?

They didn't call me that for my looks, but for my skill...

[Diarmuid shrugs it off, though. This seems to be a fight he's not going to be able to win. Besides, with as much as he loves stories, he is more interested in what Edgeworth is saying.]

So he is a hero from your day? Can you tell me more about him? Or maybe demonstrate his style to me? Otherwise, I will teach you what I know. I don't know how much that will be like his fighting style, but...

[He seems confused by Edgeworth's question to Maya. Or maybe he is just confused in general since he gets the feeling he is missing something.]

Is there something wrong?

Nope! Nothing wrong at all.

[ She does stifle a laugh though before clasping her hands together. ]

Well... it's kind of hard to put in words, but he does have plenty of attacks. Maybe we can even show you sometime! There is a media room in the Tower and I have some Steel Samurai DVDs we can watch if they manage to work.

[Edgeworth is about to respond to Maya's comment but then realises that doing so would probably cause more humiliation on his part. Instead, he tries to change the subject.]

A-anyway, would you be willing to take up lessons, Maya? I would strongly advise it, knowing how dangerous this miserable place can be.

[Again Diarmuid finds himself confused by their interactions. Obviously, there is something more here than he is seeing.]

If you wish me to show you his moves specifically, it probably would be best to someday show me these DVDs. I am afraid I don't know much about modern media, but I am willing to learn.

As for the training, it would be best for both of you to learn at least some basic defense. I realize not all people are well suited for fighting, but everyone can learn skills to help keep them alive until they can find someone who is.
