Chapter 2 "Brooding Is Not My Forte"
Characters: [ou] Lavi + OPEN
Setting: Floors: 08, 38, 73, 28, and 25
Format: Prose to start, threader chooses
Summary: Lavi has a lot of thoughts. :|a Then is a goof.
Warnings: No waaaaaarnings.
Floor 08
There were few floors in the Tower that Lavi actually liked, the maze was one of them. He liked the way that it changed every day, he liked the way that it tested his memory.
In a place where his body was no long his own, his mind was the only thing he trusted. And even then he sometimes had doubts. Was everything from home made up by the people that ran this place? His relationships with Allen and Kanda just history written to flesh him out?
He hated these thoughts.
So he just walked. Walked through the maze, not following a single wall but just taking a path that his feet took. Then when he got completely turned around he stopped and went back the way he came.
The exact path.
At the end of one of these trails he sits on the staircase, holding a bottle of water. Right now his mind is calm, right now he doesn't need to walk.
Floor 38
The only thing this lounge was missing - in his honest opinion - was smooth, jazzy music and smoke. A haze of smoke from cigars and maybe even the gentle clinking of glasses at the non-existent bar.
Of course...the beanbags ruined the whole thing. Even if they were as comfortable as his bed almost.
And that meant one thing to the redhead.
Make a fort out of them.
They weren't very stable though so the walls were the oversized chairs but with a blanket he was able to make a sort of reputable fort.
Floor 73
Cold.
He hated the cold.
It didn't really make sense to him why he was even on the snow castle floor, but he was still exploring.
At least he'd brought a coat on his trip this time.
Lavi huddles deeper into the over-sized coat that he managed to find, nose burying in the collar. He stares at the ruins, wondering what sorts of people once lived here. If there were any actual people at all and this wasn't just all made up.
But so far he couldn't find any traces of life aside from the ruins themselves.
It was discerning. Like it was just dropped on the floor.
Lavi turns toward one of the rooms he explored earlier, the floor almost devoid of snow. If one ignored the fresh coat of it falling now. The snow had been put to a more proper use, snowmen had been made. Lavi tests his fingers inside his coat pockets, seeing if they were thawed enough to finish building the fourth.
"I could just make a little moon rabbit and leave it at that." He stares at the three snowmen [sfw link] of his friends, "Maybe put it on Yuu's head."
Floor 28
The musical instruments on this floor amused him, Lavi spent a few hours in here every day, testing each of them. Seeing what triggered them; if it was movement, a touch, one of the other instruments going off - and if so, which one set it off.
Finally he had it all figured out, it was just a matter of gathering the ones he needed to make a song. And also figuring out how he'd get them to play as long as he needed them to to make the song.
For right now it was simple, just five or six trumpets and a sousaphone [sfw link] lined up and Lavi sitting on the floor in front of them all. He wouldn't look anything like a real conductor, he didn't much care about that anyway. What he cared about was playing 'Mary Had A Little Lamb', could he get them to do it...
"Alright, if we do this right, I'll leave you guys alone for a few days. You have my word."
Floor 25
There was no explanation that Lavi could come up why he chose to come back to this floor over and over again. It was just something about it, the spring-time maybe or the flowers themselves that put him at peace.
Like the maze and the music room, he made daily trips to these floors. Lavi had begun to wear a path in the blades of grass to the place where he had already worn a circle down. The flowers he had cut and handed to any lady he ran into after his first day in the Tower. He had no reason behind it other than wanting to try and brighten someone else's day.
He shuffles through the tall grass right now, hand drifting over the top of it. Part of him wishes it reflected the season, but another part of him is glad that it's stuck in an eternal springtime. Even if the rest of this place was hell, there was this floor. Lavi stops in his circle which was slowly becoming an oval with how he often ended up taking a nap. But before he sits...
He heard grass rustle a short ways away. Lavi turns toward the noise, "Hello?"

Still, she has her dark jacket, even if she's taken it off at least once since she entered this room to pull her wings in, out of the direct line of the cold. When she wanders into the room Lavi's in she looks cold, but not freezing - mostly she'd come this way because she'd heard someone say something, and she wanted to see what she might find if she followed it.
However, she doesn't seem to notice Lavi too much at first. Instead she's staring at his snowmen, with a slightly confused expression.]

He's gone further into the floor so he can continue his practice of Deep Freeze in peace - he's getting really good with it by now, it takes hardly any effort anymore to summon the magic and bend it into shape, but given his less than stellar start into the spell and into magic in general, Riku tends to practice until perfection, so that there's no way of it backfiring on him when he really needs it to work. He's more than learned his lesson in that regard.
The noise Lavi heard just might have been the spell at work, and if he looks closer, he'll find the ground and the grass covered by a thin layer of ice and Riku right in the middle of it, a concentrated frown on his face as he waits for the magic to wear off, so he can repeat it again.
