It does. However, when alternative logic was presented as an option, it was immediately rejected. Now...whether the rejection was out of fear or out of a refusal to consider was a possibility, either way the rejection was a result of being close-minded.

[As if to put emphasis on her statement, hands snap the book shut, the decision that the information therein not being beneficial to her cause. Moving forward to the bookshelf, Elena rises up on her toes to return the book to where she had pulled it from before lowering, eyes scanning the row for another.]

Had I been anybody else, I wouldn't have noticed the subtle reference. Had you been anyone else, you wouldn't have been subtle whatsoever.
