(no subject)

Characters: [livejournal.com profile] dualscars and everyone else.
Setting: The second library, very late at night.
Format: Starting with action brackets, but I'll match.
Summary: Dualscar partakes in an activity that does not involve violence!
Warnings: None, yet.

[those transversing the second library later at night may find the orphaner perusing its shelves, though with little to no apparent criteria for his selections. he looks as he has for the last few weeks: not to his standards of vanity. and with the more recent shenanigans involving nightmarish worlds? a touch on the battered side.

more notable, however, is that with every book deemed unsatisfactory, its chucked unceremoniously to the floor. only, that it isn't: to be thrown into a growing pile of them. one that, in fact, looks like quite a few shelves had gone into its creation. by now, several individuals could sit uncomfortably upon its hard-cover summits.

but if this requires any sort of attention at all, it doesn't show. after all, both holding a book and turning the page with one hand requires more effort than he'd care to admit.

[Chidori doesn't sleep until late into the night regardless, and wandering the tower is a thing she tends to do until sleep hits. The second library isn't a place she's explored extensively, but she's not the type to let that stop her from going where she pleases. She's a little confounded by the pile of books though, and stops before she catches sight of Dualscar- though she knows there's someone else there simply because of Medea. Aside from her teammates, Chidori doesn't make it a habit of remembering the pattern of their energies- but this one is familiar enough that she's not entirely worried.

She prods at the pile with the toe of a boot, and then bends to pick one of them up, sketchbook tucked carefully under an arm, and reads the title, before looking at the others closest to her, trying to find a correlation. She finds none, however, and finally kneels to look through the pile more carefully. Maybe it will make more sense if she looks harder.]

Investigating.

[She moves to make herself comfortable, skirt swept and tucked under her legs almost imperiously, and she leans sideways to pick up another book, expression betraying nothing. If Minato were there, he might be able to tell Dualscar that she was reining in inquiries, if only for the sake of politeness. And that she was a little frustrated that her endeavors weren't turning up much that she could understand him being interested in amongst the titles.]

Though I might ask the same.

[There, the first hint of curiosity, her sketchbook balanced on her thighs, seemingly precariously but not wavering from its position as she picked up another book, scoffed at the title, shifted it out of the way on the pile.]

...such a mess you're making, Orphaner.

[identity profile] floreatnoctem.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
You say that as if I will not simply ask you to explain.

[Which he should know, by now, is exactly what she intends to do- after she makes some of the books a little more comfortable to perch upon- fewer odd corners, more flat planes. Satisfied, she looks up at him, eyes- as always- somewhat brighter than your average human's.]

So what is its purpose?

[identity profile] floreatnoctem.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I only hope you will enlighten me.

[She follows his movements, eyes alert and sharp- moreso than they'd been before the tower's latest trick. The time she'd spent in her 'home' world had left her edgy, a little angry, and very, very wary of anything and everyone... except Minato, but that was a given.]

How can you possibly rest in this...?

[A shift, and while it is not entirely uncomfortable, she cannot imagine it being particularly good to settle among the books for too long.]

Discuss...? What, exactly?
ocariness: (OH GOD WHAT.)

Oh oops I threw this here

[ So.

Guess who just made an idiot of themselves and tripped over that mountain range of books because she was too busy not paying attention to where she was going, half-asleep?

Your roomie. And, as luck would have it, she goes down and the pile is going in your direction, Dualie. And it's highly probable that one of those books has gone towards your head (in fact, ninety-percent likely it has.) ABANDON LIBRARY, ABANDON LIBRARY, BWEE OOO BWEEE OOOO-- ]

[ Ohmygod she is going to die in a sea of literature. ]

[Aradia hasn't really explored the higher floors much but now seems as good a time as any. She's not sure what she's expecting to find up there, but something might pique her interest if she looks for long enough.

The first thing she notices is the pile. That is a lot of books for a pile, certainly not the actions of someone just hunting for books and discarding the ones they don't want. Unless that was something humans did, who knew?

The second thing she notices is the adult troll responsible and at that she moves to duck behind a bookshelf because how did she manage to choose the one night that an adult sea-dweller was up here. So for now, she'll just watch from a distance]

Hi Dualscar, have a roomie

[identity profile] trialbyaurum.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Matters such as time, Marlon reasoned, made no difference here in the pits of the damned. After all, he had woken up in a room with two humans and a gray-skinned, horned creature which, really, had to be a devil of some kind. What else could it seriously be?]

[So when stalking the second library (how considerate it was for the Devil to supply not one, but two of them), he was surprised to find that very same demon hanging around, pulling things out and tossing them into a pile on the floor. He supposed this was typical devilish behavior, but even so, he tucked a very large book under his arm and approached the creature curiously, speaking in a personable manner that betrayed none of his inner suspicions.]
I'm very sorry to interrupt, but why are you emptying all of these bookshelves?

[identity profile] floreatnoctem.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
How curious.

[So it is a sort of nest, then? She doesn't say as much, but the suspicion is there, and she half-smiles because of it, more than she normally allows herself to show. It is just that amusing a though, really.]

So you make piles of books and discuss your problems? That is... quite interesting.

[Though if it was meant for discussion, that would mean it was also meant for more than one troll... and Chidori couldn't really picture Dualscar being that kind of troll. Still, if there should have been someone else here, was he waiting for someone?]

...I'm not intruding, am I?

[Best to ask and not make a nuisance of herself- Dualscar was her best source of information when it came to troll behaviors. Mostly because she'd seen how some of the younger ones spoke, and she didn't think she'd be able to handle such terrible attitudes.]

[ ASDFLSHLDHG NO WHAT EW WHAT ARE YOU DOING oh god he's going to attack her she just knows it--

She is totally throwing books at you now because she thinks you're trying to attack her. GOD WHY CAN'T SHE GET TO HER SWORD THROUGH ALL THESE BOOKS?

Someone should have warned about these books. They should have TOLD her, dog. ]

Hmm.

[ The thing is she totally isn't looking for a fight, she's just misreading EVERYTHING because you look like an evil villain.

...

This is going to take a bit. Um. TRYING TO RECOVER SOME DIGNITY HERE, she manages to at least sort of get halfway above Book Mountain. Man, this is so uncomfortable. ]

... You shouldn't have left something like this in the middle of the floor, of course people are going to trip!

[ Unobservant half-asleep people like her. Sob. The good news, however, is that she has dislodged her sword along with most of herself. She stares at the flapping book, stricken at the irony of this situation, somehow. She's almost tempted to just stay here in defiance. ]

[Signless found the book pile first. He pauses and looks it over while Dualscar is down another row of books, out of sight for now, then bends to inspect one of the books.

At which point a book sails out of the stack and hits him in the face, and he lets out an annoyed hiss]

What the fuck? What kind of grubfisted nooksniffing asshole just throws books around without looking to see if someone's in the way first?!

Don't worry, they can be douches together.

[identity profile] trialbyaurum.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Smile. He's totally unfazed by Dualscar's doucheliness.]

It seemed an unusual thing to do. You're also upsetting the placement of certain documents which I may be needing, as well, so it definitely does constitute as 'my' business.

[Condesce had been passing by the floor heading back up to her room after a much needed meal and medical care to her injured person when she spots the pile of books and Dualscar's tending to it.

She stares for a moment before attempting to move on, the bandages on her wrists being hidden behind mounts of jewelery.]
