A daring rescue [Shion and Reno]
Characters: Shion and Reno
Setting: Around but then in the cathedral
Format: Prose
Summary: Reno has been avoiding Shion for a while but when he doesn't come back to the room at all for a few days Shion goes looking for him
Warnings: Here be monsters
Shion still felt bad about reading Reno's book, matters were made worse by the fact that Reno had barely spoken to him since. There room had became one of awkward silences or attempts at conversation from Shion's side, just to have Reno make excuses and leave.
Still when a day and then two went past without Shion seeing Reno at all he began to get worried. The tower was a place where any number of awful things could happen any day and so Shion set off to look for him. He asked around and when no one had seen him he began searching the floors beginning with the cafeteria.
After a long time searching, his coat torn from a close shave with a forest animal; Shion entered the cathedral beginning to look around, wondering if Reno was here.

Vicious claws had torn his shirt sleeve and laid waste to his skin underneath. The gashes were mostly scabbed over but whenever he moved they broke open and bled a little more. There was a nice little spot of blood on the floor where it had dripped down. He was a tough guy and could stand a lot of things, but it felt like it was getting infected.
Below him, and incredibly excited every time he started dripping again, a large archraven hung out. It stood motionless at the very foot of the arch he perched on, occasionally looking up when he moved.
When he first jumped up here, he had been planning on attacking this thing with his long range attacks and get it out of his hair, but oh no. In his haste, the EMR had dropped off his belt and clattered on the floor only to be swiftly pounced and skittered across the cathedral by the archraven when it had burst to life again. He wasn't going to fight that thing weaponless, and he had to wonder why it just didn't climb or fly up. There were a few tears in the back of his shirt where it had tried to lift off with him when he had first backed up into it and discovered the damn raven statues could move.
Yelling had no effect in this place, either. Every time he had tried the air had acted like a muting substance. He tried climbing down and running when it acted like it wasn't paying attention, but again it burst into life when he got close and had clawed his arm before he could scramble back up.
Squinting, he could have sworn that was a figure. "Hey!" He yelled, though he didn't hold out much hope the figure could hear him. Besides, it could have been another monster; he had no idea if it was day or night.

"Reno!"
Sadly his call alerted the raven, which burst to life a moment later. Shion froze, eyes darting between Reno and the raven.

Argh, why did it have to be Shion? He wasn't going to live this down, not in a million years. "Hey, Shion," he called as quietly as he could without the raven noticing. He hoped the boy could hear him. "That thing will shred your skin off. Don't get too close."
no subject
"I wont," he promised but then seemed to break that promise a moment later as he decided. "Leave him alone." He skittered a little closer, not planning to go within reach but aiming to distract it.

It didn't seem to matter though, as the raven had fully locked on to Shion and was gaining speed, it would be a definite big problem in a second.

"Hurry Shion!" He yelled, though the natural muting properties of the cathedral turned it into a whisper before it reached the other boy.
There it was! Reno grabbed his EMR up, thanking his lucky stars he was left handed, and didn't even slow changing directions. He grabbed a pillar and swung around, the EMR charging up.

It seemed as if they were safe, for the moment.

That was good. There would be no witnesses.
"The hell," Reno puffed, pushing off the wall and leaving a few bloody marks only to turn and stare at Shion, "were you doin'? You coulda been killed."

Truth was he hadn't been thinking at all from the moment he had seen Reno in the cathedral, he just knew he needed to help him. "You're injured..." He stepped forward to look closer at Reno's arm.

"You were lookin' for me?" Honestly, that surprised him. Though now that he was thinking again, distracting that raven had to take a lot of guts. There was apparently more to this guy than met the eye.
Ow, ow. The pain was starting up. It had relaxed into a dull throb when he was sitting motionless, and the adrenaline had kept it during the chase, but now with the scabs freshly broken the pain was searing up his arm, until he started cradling it to relieve some of the pressure.
"It's just some scratches."

There would be no lecture about being reckless. Shion was not a turk and he did not expect that he would listen to orders. Still, it impressed him that he would do that.
Few people ever stood up for Reno outside of the Turks, and that earned a little bit of respect.

He gathered what he needed and began to clean it, "How long were you up there?" He berated himself for not going to look for him sooner.

The fact Reno was letting Shion even touch his wound attested to the fact of how exhausted he was. Would hardly have been the first time he tended to his own wounds on or off the battlefield either. "Could have been two. You've probably got a better idea than me."

His voice indicated that he wanted to make that into a question, but he made himself state it as fact.

"I think I need some rest."
no subject
He supposed even months in a tower were horrific things happened hadn't stopped him from being a naive airhead.
He managed a small smile, "Rest I will get you some food."
no subject
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Sure. Thanks."
no subject
"Here," he entered the room, "Eat and then sleep."
