A daring rescue [Shion and Reno]

Summary: Reno has been avoiding Shion for a while but when he doesn't come back to the room at all for a few days Shion goes looking for him
Warnings: Here be monsters

Shion still felt bad about reading Reno's book, matters were made worse by the fact that Reno had barely spoken to him since. There room had became one of awkward silences or attempts at conversation from Shion's side, just to have Reno make excuses and leave.

Still when a day and then two went past without Shion seeing Reno at all he began to get worried. The tower was a place where any number of awful things could happen any day and so Shion set off to look for him. He asked around and when no one had seen him he began searching the floors beginning with the cafeteria.

After a long time searching, his coat torn from a close shave with a forest animal; Shion entered the cathedral beginning to look around, wondering if Reno was here.

"Don't worry about it. You're not my mother." That came out wrong, but what Reno was trying to say it wasn't Shion's responsibility. He was just too far gone to try and put it in a better phrase.

Shion looked down again, worried that he had pushed Reno too far and he was angry with him again. He didn't stop bandaging the wounds though. "No... I'm not but I'm your friend, the least I can do is make sure you are safe. That's what friends do..."

His voice indicated that he wanted to make that into a question, but he made himself state it as fact.

He stared at Shion for a moment, not quite understanding what he was saying. "Am I?" He hadn't really considered it. As far as Reno was concerned so far, Shion was a roommate and perhaps someone to talk to on the odd occasion, and perhaps he even started to warm up to him a little until that part with the report book. Now, everything was confused and he couldn't think straight.

"I think I need some rest."

Shion looked down embarrassed. He knew better than to assume friendship from people, but he had thought...

He supposed even months in a tower were horrific things happened hadn't stopped him from being a naive airhead.

He managed a small smile, "Rest I will get you some food."

Reno didn't need to be told twice, as he settled down on the bed as soon as Shion had let go of his arm, and if it hadn't been so painful, he might have fallen asleep right then.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Sure. Thanks."

Shion took the elevator down to the cafeteria since he knew Reno wouldn't be able to stay awake for much longer. It was just towards the end of lunch and so Shion grabbed a plate of sandwiches a glass of milk and one of water.

"Here," he entered the room, "Eat and then sleep."

By the time Shion got back, Reno had curled up on his bed pretty comfortably on his stomach and rested his head on the pillow. Naturally, that led to one thing, and then another, and he was asleep already.

Shion didn't have the heart to wake him, so he just left the food on his bedside table for when he woke up and then lay on his own bed, despite not having hid from a vulture for two days he was asleep very quickly.
