Setting: Everywhere or in the hallway near her room.
Format: Either works for me.
Summary: Chie finds herself waking up in a strange place, a place which is most certainly not the Amagi Inn. She is a little confused. Thus suspicious wandering ensues and kicking. Lots of kicking.
Warnings: Kicking, comedic violence, overreactions, potential angst, the power of friendship.

She had expected to wake up to the familiar feeling of well worn blankets and sounds of Amagi Inn bustling in the early morning. It on par with her own home in the morning, it almost relaxing to listen to when she first woke up. Chie instead found herself laying on a bed, stiff and unable to move. Panic swelling through her as her mind darted through the possibilities of how she was here.

Needlessly to say, it left Chie a little confused and angry. The letter did little to really comfort her, only bring up more questions. The brunette scrambling into her clothes, sliding her glasses on before stomping out of the room. She warily poking around, torn between wanting to see someone she knew here or just wanting to lurch her way through the hallways. Chie just hoped the letter was a lie- that they were somehow in the TV world. She almost wanted this to be some overly elaborate trick. The thought of everything she, they all knew, being gone just made the sixteen year old feel queasy. She was doing her best not to dwell on it as she glanced around, adjusting her glasses with a frown across her features.

[Oh look, there is someone running towards you. He is around six feet tall, huge and the ground is probably shaking from his footsteps. Kanji had been doing his usual patrols, and miracles of miracles, an all-too familiar site makes him break into a wide grin.]

SENPAI!

[The sound of stomping and Kanji yelling out for her is enough for Chie to whip around. Relief painted on her features at the sight of him.]

Kanji!

[He gets close enough just to be close without invading personal space and gives her a tiny bow.]

I had a feeling you'd come back! It's...uh...it's good to see you.

[It's funny too because guess who was just about to join Kanji after finally, finally having a sword at his waist again when he spies not only their underclassmen, but Chie as well? After a moment of blinking, he decides to go ahead and approach- quietly at first.]

Chie-san? [Did she remember? Or was it like Arisato-san said and she didn't? He'll have to ask at some point, but for now... he'll just stand beside Kanji and give a welcoming-yet-guarded nod.]

[Double the relief and times it by twenty. This is what Chie is feeling about now. She's automatically invading Kanji's personal space bubble as well.] Yu- Kanji-

Back? What- do you mean by back?

[Kanji, unlike Yu, hasn't experienced anyone with a memory loss so he's just starring at her confused.]

What. w-what you don't remember anything when you last came here? I thought you'd gotten lost in one of the levels or somethin'!

[He hasn't personally experienced it, but he had been warned about the possibility of memory loss by an unexpected source. Because of it, he isn't as surprised as he could be, but he was definitely taken aback for a brief moment as she confirms what he feared. Still, that didn't answer the other questions on his mind...

The question is, how to ask it. He pauses a moment, thinking before hand before speaking.]

I wasn't here before, Kanji. I- think I'd remember- [She gestures wildly around them.] This! And our world being- gone!

[Yu's question is a good distraction from her flailing, she glancing from giant underclass man to their leader.]

I remember going to bed at the Amagi Inn, it was- after the school festival.

[Kanji turns to Yu, and stares at him questioningly.]

..Senpai? You know what's happening to her?

ALL THE HUGS

[He knows that look, and he knows it very well. However, all he does in response for a brief moment is lower his head as if recalling something. Yu truly had hoped that Arisato had been wrong, that the would recall, but seeing Chie's reactions were telling enough as it is. There's a moment that he ponders saying it, but decides automatically that the truth was best. It wasn't like him to lie, or sugarcoat something like this.]

An acquaintance mentioned something once before.

[He truly hoped his team would never have to witness or experience it, because other than "it happens" he doesn't really have an explanation. Yu decides to read that file again once he returns to a terminal.]

As for that note, we haven't found anything to prove or disprove that claim. [A pause] ...It's been four or five months for us since the school festival.

[Oh gods, the flashbacks to all of the pails to the face...]

What's happening- [Kanji gets another uncertain look.]

[Well, before Chie snaps her gaze back to Yu, her stomach dropping when he lays it out for her. It feels like the ground has vanished under her as she goes wide eyed.]

F-four to five months?

That- [She open and closes her mouth for a moment. All of it hitting her harder than she'd expect. She managing the most obvious statement since she can't really put together anything else.] this is just too, weird.

[What the hell is even going on at this point.]

...y-you don't remember anything past the festival?!

[Moreover, why the festival. Why does it have to be that festival, his last image of him is probably in a small white dress that blows mysteriously around in the wind...]

I know. It was weird enough seeing someone... else here, too.

[He nods faintly, not letting his own surprise show as the normal, Team Leader™ calm settled over his expression. After all, how the hell do you explain to two shocked team members that you're actually on semi-neutral terms with the goddess who started the madness back home? Sure, he was still pissed as hell about what she did, but... Damnit, Izanagi.

This was going to be even harder with just which two members he has to calm before things start getting out of hand.]

Kanji, calm down.

[He is in the same state internally, and it wouldn't help them find answers as to why their friend is suddenly missing a good portion of time between the festival and the time of his departure from Inaba. Also, at least you didn't have pigtails back then, "Kanji-chan." S-sob...]

[It is just Yu's luck to get the two team mates who think violence is a perfectly reasonable way to react to a problem. Yu's sentence gets her attention though.] ...Someone else? Who?

[Shh, Kanji, you were beautiful in that dress. Kanji's question makes Chie stomp a little in frustration.] No! I don't! What do you expect me to remember?!

[Kanji does try to calm down but man, the situation is just so confusing and he's incredibly pissed off at everything that is happening, he can't help but use his inside screaming voice (it's a lot like his outside screaming voice, mind you)]

Argh! Everything after that! Rescuing Nanako, Fighting Adachi, Ameno-sagiri, Izanami! Those are important to remember, senpai!

[Remember how Kanji used to stomp in anger when he's angry? He's doing JUST THAT.]

[His extremely high luck stats were misplaced somewhere before the school camping trip, so to be fair he is not so surprised that events turned to this. In fact, he's about to answer Chie's first question when Kanji goes into his usual anger fits. One he'd nearly pressed the ignore button on when-

He nearly winces at the first point, the month proceeding her kidnapping and Uncle Dojima's accident were still sore spots for him, but he kept to his collected facade instead. He couldn't afford to lose his temper at this point.]

The one who gave me the power to enter the TV in the first place.

Chie, Kanji, aiming your frustrations at each other or nothing at all isn't going to solve anything when it's the tower itself and those who run it that are to blame. [A sigh, mainly to keep himself from following suit and defenestrating his inside voice.] I'll write down everything that happened for you later.

Its not like- I choose not to remember, Kanj! I just sort of woke up a few minutes ago here! [STOMP, STOMP]

What?! Seriously? [Chie's reaction to his revelation, she taking a step back in surprise. His added words draining her frustrations aimed at Kanji considerably.]

[Alright, alright now even Kanji is calming down too. Maybe writing it down would be better than him just screaming it out.]

Senpai! I apologize. You're right. Sorry.

Yeah. [That's good; because it's at least progress. He nods in agreement to the apology, relaxing slightly as the internal debate continues. Hm...]

Is there anything you want to know about this place in the meantime?

[Chie uncertainly glances between the two.] Has anyone figured a way out or- anything? Are our worlds actually... gone?

[Don't mind Chie, she is going for the balls the hard questions.]

[To be honest, he rather expected that question- it was just like her to ask that right away, and he had asked Minato and Yosuke the same thing. Though... it still knocked the wind out of his sails for a brief moment as a slight hint of uncertainty showed in his eyes for a split second. Had they? Were they really... destroyed?]

[His heart says 'no,' and his mind is inclined to agree, but... he has to keep to the facts. Plain and simple.]

As far as I'm aware of, no. No one's found a way out, yet. [He closes his eyes for a brief moment, collecting his thoughts on the matter and what he's seen so far.] As for our worlds, I doubt it. They've given us no confirmation, and there hasn't been anyone from the time the world ended, so I'm going to have to say they're still there. That Inaba still exists.

[He couldn't bear the thought of the place they all fought to protect being wiped off the face of the earth, along with everything else on it.]

[Hey, you guys remember that time in the hospital when Kanji was telling everyone not to beat each other down despite the situation? Well, he's making a comeback right now as he looks at both Yu and Chie before sighing. He'd tried his own way of getting out of here (punching a wall) and that hadn't worked but if there was one thing he was certain and had faith in, it was the entire Investigation Team.]

Look, just because no one ain't found a way out of here don't mean there isn't either. I sure as hell ain't gonna believe a piece of paper telling me my world's destroyed like that. Once I find out who's responsible, I'm gonna give 'em a good talk.

'Sides, with you back on the team, that's just one more reason why they should be afraid of us, you know?

[Chie listens, expression as cool as she can keep it considering this is pretty serious business.

Its clear though that his answer at least helps with the tension and worry building in her gut over this. Over the possibility everything they had and knew was gone.

Their families, their homes, the people they knew- the thought of it being still there waiting for them hits Chie in a good way. Kanji gets a misty eyed look as well.] You better both be right- or I am going to be mad at you.

2/2 and then the hug attack commenced

[Chie pretty much gives in to her urge and grabs onto both of them. Even giant Kanji is manhandled by the very tiny Chie into a hug.]

We'll get home, this place won't stop us. [There is threat in her voice, primarily aimed at the Tower itself.]

aaaaaaaahhhh! it's the hug monster, ruuuuuuuuuuuuuun-!

[He caught that threat, and the promise of retribution should they be wrong. In fact, he nearly expected another warning to go along with it until suddenly-]

[Was Chie... seriously hugging both of the tallest members of the Investigation Team at the same time?]

[Yu blinks, glancing down at Chie for a second before wrapping an arm around her too and offering one to Kanji as well. Sigh... Yes, he has gotten over the events of the sauna and the camping trip. Time for the group hug before Chie decides to kick us both.]

Right. We've gotten this far together, haven't we? [He smiles, mouthing 'Thank you, Kanji.' That's the second time now you'd managed to cheer them up in a dire situation.]
