Summary: Zett gathers and eats mushrooms for science. He's also willing to share.

[Floor 61]
["Many mushrooms grow on this floor. It is unknown if they are edible or not."

That was what the guide to the tower said, and Zett was just bored enough to decide to make a helpful contribution. Perhaps they would kill him unpleasantly, but his death would help people in the future to not die. Perhaps they would be incredibly tasty and a good source of food during Jason months. It was hard to tell, with the tower.

Careful to avoid all the pits on this floor, Zett gathers up as many mushrooms as he can. Just one wouldn't be enough to know for sure how dangerous these mushrooms were - if the first one didn't kill him, he'd have to test another.

Zett isn't actually going to eat on this floor (too dangerous with the pits around), so other residents will just encounter him picking mushrooms and gathering them in a box.]

[Dormitory Floors]
[When Zett gets back to the dorm floors, it's finally time to test the mushrooms for deadliness. Setting the box on the ground, Zett picks up one mushroom and munches on it.

It's delicious. Zett finishes it quickly and waits for any side effects.

Gradually he notices that his vision is going a little... weird. Colors are changing. The doors are starting to morph into shapes that clearly wouldn't fit a person through them, unless they were a very strangely formed person. He feels kind of... melty.

Huh.

Zett picks up his box of mushrooms and walks around the dormitories, occasionally stumbling as the ground doesn't feel right. When he spots other people, he'll smile and wave and tell them something like,] Did you know you're leaving a trail of light behind you? [After a moment, he'll add.] That could be the mushrooms, though.

Oh, you again.

[Nue has no reason to fear the pits here, given that she can fly. In fact, she seems to be peering out of one, studying Zett from her hiding place.]

What are you doing?

I'm going to test to see if these mushrooms are poisonous.

[Zett uproots a mushroom, then turns to look down at her.]

So what are you doing?

How are you going to test them?

[Is he going to do science things, like the people with the collar fluid? She doesn't really understand science things.]

[At that question, she sinks farther down into her hiding hole, so that only her eyes and her fingers stick out over its edge.]

I thought it might be fun to ambush someone like this.

The only way I know how is to eat them.

Heh, that does look fun, you're right. You can't ambush me now, though. [He chuckles a little.]

Oh. [Well, she's not one to talk, considering her idea of "investigating" the collar fluid was tasting it. She emerges up to her waist as she declares:] I'll do it too, then. And I wasn't going to ambush you anyway, because I thought you might be doing something interesting.

Alright. But in case something dangerous happens like we go blind or stagger everywhere, we should probably eat them on a less dangerous floor like the dormitories. Even if we can fly out of pits, they might cut off powers too.

[Mysterious mushrooms.]

[She floats the rest of the way out of the hole.]

Do you think they can do something like that? There are those animals in that forest that make your powers stop working, but they were fine after I killed and ate them...

I have no idea what they can do. That's what safety precautions are for. Let's see, do you think these are enough?

[He's got a pretty full box of mushrooms...]

[Nue comes closer, peering into the box in response to his question.]

Huh? This is more than enough. Or... How many were you planning to eat?

[She doesn't actually wait for a response to that question before she just kind of...shoves her face in the box.]

They don't smell like they're poison...

Well, just one to start with, then maybe a couple more. And maybe some to share if they're not poison.

[She straightens up again.]

I guess that makes sense. They could only be a little poisonous. [She nods to herself, apparently satisfied with that reasoning.] Since you have enough, let's go.

Alright~ We'll take the elevator, since it's right here.

[Anyway, he doesn't want to spill any. He heads towards the elevator.]

[And Nue trails after him, floating about the ground rather than walking.]

[Yup, sure is an elevator ride.]

How've you been?

[Nue tucks herself into a corner of the elevator. She doesn't normally use it, so she's a little unsure of what to do with herself, and it comes across in her demeanor. Her wings wiggle restlessly behind her.]

Fine, I guess. Things have been pretty unexciting lately, to be honest.

[She isn't sure if she likes that or not.]

They have been. Not getting killed and things like that is nice, but it feels like we're not making any headway either with anything, to be honest.

[He feels you, brosis.]

[She grunts out a noncommittal sound.]

I never would have guessed a place like this could be boring, but I guess it's possible after all.
