[ there isn't much going on here. the art gallery usually doesn't have many people in it due to the disturbing imagery tacked onto the walls, but the grand highblood stands in front of a large animated painting, his eyes dull and sort of fixed on the slow undulating motion of the waves painted on the canvas. It's a picture of a stormy sea, dark and chaotic, waves crashing on top of each other over and over.... ]

I saw it from a hilltop once. [His own voice is quiet] While we were travelling. I couldn't believe how far out it went, and how it sparkled under the moons.

[His eyes narrow, going back to the picture.]

It's a motherfucking facade. It all lures you in with its coating of sparkling dust, and you can't be getting your better judgement on because it has you under its motherfucking spell. Shit's dangerous.

Maybe. [He shivers a little, turning away from the picture and looking up at the Highblood quietly] Especially when you don't know how to swim.

[He snickers, though it's not really at the Signless per se. Yeah, he doesn't really swim much either. Just enough to survive.]

High time you motherfucking learned. It can all save your pointless life, help you cling to it like a suckerbug when those heavy ice-cold waves come crashing down on your head like a motherfucking side of a hive hitting your face.

...Yeah, I know. [It might help the next time the Condesce decides to give him a dunking, for one thing] I've never had much of an opportunity, though. I suppose now I have a chance, but I wouldn't know where to start.

[grandhighblood]

Oh, yeah? Looks like a brother needs a motherfucking hand in this water-treading business. [A sort of...sly grin here.]

[He doesn't like that grin, Highblood. He looks up at the larger troll doubtfully]

You aren't seriously suggesting that you want to teach me to swim.

[grandhighblood]

[He shrugs, still grinning.]

Maybe I am, or maybe I am not. I ain't the motherfucking swimming champion, but I know a little something to keep my motherfucking head out of the murky abyss we call "water."

[Why is he not running away screaming? Oh right, because he hopes to get through to this big indigo someday]

Well, then you know more than me. My strategy when the Condesce tried to drown me the other day was to sink and hope she rescued me.

[He laughs as if being drowned by the Condesce was totally not scary and more kind of hilarious. Sorry, he doesn't...feel...your pain there. Then he raises an eyebrow.]

[Shrug] She changed her mind, I guess.

Heh, isn't that all something? I guess she still finds you just as motherfucking infuriating as I do.
