Well he looked very much like one of those freaky monsters, thank you very much!
Echidna watched for a moment and remained silent. Whoever or whatever it was, it was intelligent! So maybe it wasn't a monster?
Another moment of consideration and silence later, and Echidna poked her head out juuust a little from under the table. "Uh....h, hi? What are you?"
