[Terezi has spent the entire day scouring the Tower for her Karkat, but to no avail. She hadn't really expected to find him after she discovered his name was no longer on the plaque outside his room, but she'd still hoped, just a little. She has no idea what happens when people disappear from the Tower if their worlds are really destroyed, and so she's more than a little bit worried.

But the other Karkat has a surprise for her! That should be a good distraction, right?]

[She's trying so hard not to laugh.]

Jegus, Mr. Hero-of-Heart? Shouldn't you know?

Can you stop taunting me for two fucking seconds and just--

[EPIC PAUSE OF THE CENTURY as he does the Heart thing to check her intention--]

[--nothing.

Oh.

No anger.

At least not from her. He suddenly releases her and stammers open mouthed for a moment before he gets extremely indignant.]

What the fuck is your major malfunction?!

[scalemate]

[She laughs, scooting close and trying to loop her arms around him again.]

I wanted to see how long it would take you!

[caliginous]

[He recoils slightly in displeasure, offering her a very unhappy pout when her arms connect with him.]

You've got to be kidding me.

[scalemate]

[Pssssh.]

Nope!

[She leans forward, trying to kiss him.]

[caliginous]

[Karkat had been about to snap angrily at Terezi for her transgressions when suddenly--kiss.

With his mouth hanging wide open.

Suddenly his life is full of dilemmas. How much does he value his face at the present moment? Was he looking to be in pain for the next week or so?

Unfair. He was trying so hard to be good and not quite so forward, lest she get upset with him. Since she had initiated the entire action, he didn't want to risk the possible backlash. So instead of anything else, Terezi is rewarded with a pathetic whine.]

[scalemate]

[WOW... She's so confused??? She jerks back, brow furrowed.]

What the fuck?

[caliginous]

[Karkat ducks his head a little nervously.]

I was going to say something and then I didn't and--

[He gestures.]

[scalemate]

[Oh god that is so weirdly cute. She giggles again.]

Karkat! Am I flustering you?

[caliginous]

What? No! I just---

[Karkat waves his hands wildly. He can't really say anything that wouldn't immediately incriminate him.]

--was trying. To be polite [and not a pig] I guess.

[scalemate]

Such a gentleman!

[She pokes at his nose.]

I give you permission to not be polite.

[caliginous]

[He crosses his eyes and looks at her suspiciously. She can't really mean that.]

...really?

[scalemate]

[She grins.]

Sure!

[caliginous]

[...well ok.

Karkat gives her one last look before he seeks to pull her back to the couch, in his lap if she doesn't catch herself and wraps his arms around her securely (though not too tightly -- she has an out if she wants it).

But then he returns her kiss, perhaps previously misinterpreting her earlier questioning remark. His lips find her's without much trouble, but its not long before he seeks to deepen it.

...as far as he was concerned, he was still being polite.]

[scalemate]

[Oh. Oh. Okay. This is a little more intimate than she was expecting, but hey, it isn't like they haven't kissed before, so she has little problem returning the gesture. The lap thing isn't new, either, so she wraps her arms around him. She's still okay with this. They're matesprits, right? No big deal!!!]

[caliginous]

[No freak out yet. Good sign. At least he can relax a little instead of worrying about whether or not he was going to get clocked in the head for his attentions. But he's not about to push his luck -- instead, he pursues the deepened kiss for only a short period before he breaks it and simply buries his face in the curve of her neck, his arms keeping her held snugly to his own slim frame.

He can do this. He knows what he's doing. None of this is him trying to convince himself that he's not doing the incorrect thing. There is no over-compensation going on here at all.]

[scalemate]

[That she wasn't expecting, and she giggles, nuzzling against his hair.]

You really are a sap.

[caliginous]

[Karkat vaguely mutters something that sounds like "shut up" and "am not", but he doesn't pull away to do it. He seems perfectly content being a pathetic lump of suit and troll.]

[scalemate]

[She laughs, trailing her fingers down his spine absently.]

I'm not complaining, stupid.

[caliginous]

[When she hits a certain point in his spine, it arches a bit of its own accord before Karkat forcefully corrects the involuntary action and straightens his back while clearing his throat. His head rests back on her shoulder not long after.]

I didn't say you were.

[scalemate]

[She laughs at that, sneaking her hand up towards his hair.]

You were whining.

[caliginous]

[He sees what she's doing there and he's pretty torn between 'do want' and 'do not want'. So rather than answer he just slowly...ducks away...from her hand.]

[scalemate]

[She's wrinkling her nose at him.]
