Summary: The best time to arrive somewhere is during an event. That's exactly what seems to have happened for this kid.
Warnings: Dave being an insufferable prick to everyone ever, sass, cussing, copious amounts of swag, Kim trying to get Dave killed in his intro (I'm being serious).


[Room 1-04]
Dave read the letters. He already thought the first one was utter bullshit. His world was destroyed way before this tower saved his ass. Wow, talk about late to the party. He read the second one a little more seriously. Considering that there probably isn't any way out (he's getting too used to being stuck in places, dear god), he should know how to get around.

He changed out of whatever bullshit he woke up in, putting on one of the broken record t-shirts, jeans, and converse. He made sure his shades were placed perfectly over his face before noticing the collar around his neck.

Dave tapped his finger against the collar, shook his head and headed out.

In retrospect, he should have grabbed one of his shitty swords. Oh well.

"Hey." He's probably trying to get your attention. He hates to be the new guy, but Dave really needed to know what he was in for. There had to be more then to what these letters had to say. "On a scale from piece of cake to I warned you dog, how bad of an idea is it to try and get these piece of shits off our necks? We can also use a scale of one to ten if that makes it easier. I would ask where the nearest exit is, but seeing as you're here, it seems like a dumb question to ask."

Dave never even got past "Hey".

John had been sitting at the edge of the pool in full garb, pushing the water along with little puffs of air. But as soon as he turned around and caught sight of the person talking to him, John jumped right up and ran closer. His face was glowing like a lightbulb. "Dave!"

[knightime]

"Woah. I know I'm irresistible, but you got to chill a bit. People are going to start getting thoughts about us. It's hard to explain the difference between a platonic bromance and a not so platonic bromance." Well. Now he doesn't really mind this place as much. This was a lot better then waiting three years to see your best bro in the flesh.

"Where's the off switch on you, jegus. You're brighter then that shitty green sun." But hey, Dave might be offering up a bit of a smile.

"Oh, sorry." John stopped after he was standing in front of Dave, but the grin was still splitting his face. "It's just that I've been here a really long time--" well okay, more like a few months, but Dave didn't need to know that-- "and I missed you guys! There's so much I have to tell you about this place, Dave. So much." For some reason, he sounds absolutely overjoyed at explaining the nuances of the Hellhole of Animus to a wannabe cool kid.

"..Hey."

Sayaka's only a bit under his height, which is pretty impressive for a japanese schoolgirl. She rolls her shoulders in response to his question at first, but was apparently only just stalling while she thought:

"I haven't tried, but I haven't seen anyone without one, so there's your rate of success."

"How long is a really long time?" You can't see the eyebrow raise behind the shades of his. "Well, you're here and so am I. Yap away, Egderp. I think I can spare you some...tim-I'm not even going to finish that. Holy shit."

Wow, the fact he almost went with it too. God that was lame. Time puns were not funny before, they're not funny now.

"I guess I more want to know whether or not its a terrible fucking idea. Like, potentially killing me or causing some unfortunate consequence." Maybe he'll leave it alone. If everyone else has one, and it doesn't seem to be causing trouble.

Also, it's kind of stupid to tamper with something he knows jackshit about.

Terezi is still shaken from her encounter with Karkat when she hears a very, very familiar voice behind her. She turns and--sure enough, it's Dave. And since there has been a lot of crazy going down in the Tower today, her this is basically the best pick-me-up she could ask for, and she beams at him. "Hey, cool kid!"

His smile persists all through Dave's epic terminology fail. "Well, uh, one thing you need to know about this place is that there's a lot of weird alternate versions of us walking around! Like I know there's a you who talks like Rose. And also there's a world where you and I and Rose and Jade are all just characters in someone's tabletop campaign, so they might get super excited so you should look out for them! Uh, what else..."

Wow, this kid can talk.

Oh, um... I don't think you can take them off.

[He's tried a bit.]

So... I guess that's a "I warned you dog" or something.

[You sure do talk weird, mister.]

"Oh."

She wraps a hand around her own (violet) collar, pensive.

"I could try. Doesn't really matter if something happens if I do it."

DREAMWIDTH WHAT ARE YOU DOING.

"A me. That talks like Rose." He isn't going to believe that until he sees it, dear god. It sounds like a terrible mix. "So what? Suddenly we're a bunch of Monopoly pieces to them? How many of us are running around here exactly? Not that it's any different then at home. Pretty sure Jade saw like sixteen of me all at once, but that's besides the point. They were all me. This more sounds like Attack of the Clones."

Dear god, you talk a mile a minute.

"Yes, a you that talks like Rose! ...It was a little weird, but he was an okay guy, I guess. Totally cagey, just like you." He means 'cagey', of course, in the most kind and accepting possible way. "Uh, how many of us... I don't know. Do you count the trolls? Because there's trolls. A lot of trolls."

Gosh, he missed you. There was not enough coolkid in his life.

Oh, sup Terezi. "Thought you were back flying aimlessly on a speeding meteor, Pyrope. Not that I mind. It's nice to see familiar faces. I mean, we would have been traveling together for three goddamn years, but hey. Stuck in a shitty tower is probably just as good."

Damn. And here I thought that we were going to go Battle Royale status and have our heads blown to fucking smithereens or some shit.

He's okay with trying to do something stupid, but he rather not have someone else try. Just seems kind of mean, and he didn't want his stupid curiosity causing this no named girl problems.

"Dave." Right. Introducing yourself is a good way to start things right?

"I'm not cagey," he replies a little too quickly. Oops. A little quick to refute that statement. Oh well.

"Trolls count. I was with Pyrope, Vantas, some troll that was a Twilight parody, the clowny one fuck if I remember his name." Aradia and Sollux stayed behind so they no longer were part of their party. "Shit. Is Lalonde here?"

Everyone needs a coolkid in their life.

Okay. So your name is Link. You've met more Links that look like you? Is there, like a way for me to tell you Links apart? I'm Dave, just so you know.

What. She tilts her head, frowning. She really, really hopes he's not crazy. She can't handle any more crazy today. "What are you talking about?"

Well, the Link I met was a lot taller and I think he was older than me.
But I don't know how to tell him and the other Link apart, since I haven't met the other Link.

I guess, um... you could give us nicknames or something.

"Let's rewind a bit. What's the last thing you remember so I can get you up to speed. Because I'm supposed to be flying on a shitty meteor with a bunch of you fucked up trolls and Lalonde." He fucking hates these time shenanigans. Seriously.

"I was in the Veil with Vriska."

Sort of. She grins, though.

"So Karkat's plan actually worked?"

Nicknames aren't really my thing. I guess I'll just wing it.

I've only met you, anyways. [Sob. One of the Links are in the same room as him...] I mean, I guess I can just call you Lil' Link. If you're the smallest. Or I can be Goldilocks and you Links can be bears. Guess you're the baby Bear.

What's odd is, he doesn't remember ever seeing Vriska. So he'll not mention that.
