Summary: Sollux is out and about, looking for love in all the wrong places.

He didn't notice the hand until it reached out of the bookshelf and clawed at his arm. But the moment he turned to see it, he fell in love. He reaches out, crooning, and takes the hand in his own. It scrabbles at his skin, tugging, and he pets its arm lovingly.

"Hey there...Come on out? Come on, there'th got to be more of you, hmm? I won't bite...much..."

[Little quirk of his lips] Well then, Mr. Captor, although it could have been under much more favorable circumstances, it is nice to meet you.

[Hmph. He hasn't forgiven you yet, Henry.]

I guethh...

Come now, don't look so down. I'm sure your lovely homicidal friend is merely nursing its wound somewhere. If it'll make you feel any better, I'll even help you look. [Then kill it for real when your back is turned.]

Yeah, maybe... [He looks longingly at the bookshelf] I don't know, I only ever thaw hith hand. I'm not sure where the retht of him ith...but I really thought we had a connection.

[Aw, that's adorable. Adorably delusional!]

Find a thing missing a cleanly chopped off hand. Shouldn't be too difficult to spot, don't you think? Perhaps if your connection truly was so strong, it'll draw you two lovebirds back together.

Yeah right. [Suddenly his mood is plummetting] He probably didn't even like me. I never would have good luck like that.

[Oh. Er, OK. He's not too good at this cheering up depressed teenagers bit. He hasn't gotten that far into parenthood yet!

But he remains calm. Good, all right... so. He just gives Sollux a raised eyebrow look, arms folded across his chest.]

Well, your attitude certainly isn't helping. Giving up already? [Because if he is... Henry will consider it free game.]

No. [He's still looking really depressed, though. Sorry, Henry. Bipolar disorder is a bitch] I'm not giving up! I jutht... don't know what to do, egthactly. But when I thee him again, I'll do thomething. He'll forgive me, I mean, it wathn't my fault.

[Henry stifles a laugh.] Yes, it certainly wasn't. I'll be sure to apologize when we find...him. [Then he turns towards the bookcase.] Shall we start with what's behind the bookcase?

[He gives Henry a suspicious look, then nods. Without much ceremony, he extends a hand towards the bookcase and lifts it with his powers, pulling it out of its brackets and shoving it aside. A couple of books fall over, but he keeps it relatively intact. There's nothing but bare wall behind]

I don't get it...

[The show of power startles him for a moment, but then composes himself just as quickly. He did mention psychic powers after all...but of course he only thought it was the eye lasers.

Anyway, he reaches towards the wall, feeling around it for anything unusual. Maybe there's a secret panel or something back here that it could escape into...]

Hm, the chance of it your friend being just "A hand" seems to be another likely theory. [Ehehehe.]

I guethh that'th pothhible. Though how the fuck he can jutht be a hand, I don't know. Where doeth he keep hith brain?

[He raps on the wall with bony knuckles, frowning]

Perhaps it's nestled in right at the wrist, next to the Ulnar artery.

[He looks down at the severed hand, and picks it up by a finger. The sliced off end is blackened from the light saber, and it's pretty damn obvious that no brain of any sort could've been nestled in there.]

Think there might be something behind this wall?

[Eyeroll. He glances at the hand, but doesn't look too upset by the sight, and then returns to considering the wall]

I can try to break in.

[He steps back, then makes a sweeping gesture with his arms towards the wall.]

Please. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

[He sighs as he slips off his glasses.] Though it probably won't work. The tower itthelf theemth to block my powerth.

[And indeed as he aims his eye lasers at the wall, they ricochet! Might want to dive for cover, Henry]

[Oh shi--

Having no time for a full-on dive, he activates the beam saber instead, taking a quick step to the side as the lasers careen off the bright purple pillar of light.]

Christ.

[Then after the light show is over, he brushes his hand against the blackened spot on the wall and offers his most ~~insincere~~ apologetic look.] Hate to break the bad news to you lad, but it looks like the end of the road for your conquest for love.

[Sollux is already diving when it ricochets, and several of the lasers rebound again off of a shield he hastily erects. He does manage to see Henry use the light sabre, and he stands up when the lightshow is over.]

Maybe he'll come back. That'th a hell of a thtrife thpethibuth you have.

[His guard and saber is up the entire time, just in case the lasers decide to come back him, and then deactivates it once the coast is clear.

He has no idea what a "strife specibus" is, but he assumes the kid is talking about his weapon.]

Oh, this? Yes, she's quite the beauty, isn't she? But it is merely a mechanical device. Not as dependable as your innate ability.

[Then glances over at the wall again. Yes, perhaps it'll be back...though he hopes that if it does, that Sollux wouldn't be around for it. Poor kid would probably try to attack him again.]

Mandatory? Well, everyone'th got one, if that'th what you mean. You have to equip your weapon to it or it won't work right.

[ :U ] Equip your weapon to it-- right, well, it seems I've got the terminology a little botched. Excuse my rather rude assumptions of your culture's terms. What is a "Strife Specibus"?

...[Argh, how to language this basic concept] It'th a thpecial moduth for thpethifying what kind of weapon you want to uthe. Once you've thet it, you can't change it, though you can get more cardth for different kindth if you're good.

[Oh, so that's what it is. Sounds kind of old-school, he thinks.]

Sounds like a bloody hassle to me.
