[OPEN] am i in heaven here or am i in hell?
Characters: Axel and anybody who wants to run into him.
Setting: Anywhere from top-floor dormitories to... idk, wherever we go.
Format: i default to prose but if you prefer action that's okay too.
Summary: Axel wakes up in a hideous unitard and thinks he's gone to Hell. here's a little context.
Warnings: nothing yet? dsjhfskdfl i hate intro posts i'm so bad at them halp.
His opinion of this place improved exponentially when he discovered the trunk at the foot of the bed that contained clothing he was a bit more accustomed to. After making sure he was alone in the room and peeling the ridiculous white monstrosity off, he quickly fumbled into his usual getup and found himself ten times less disconcerted. Adjusting the zipper on the front of his coat, Axel peered around the room with a frown. Dorms? Hell had dorms? Where in all the worlds was he? Well, at least whoever else was supposed to be bunking with him wasn't around to see his moment of panic. He never would have lived that down.
He took a moment to summon his chakrams, just to make sure they were still there. Thankfully, they heeded his call and he breathed a bit easier. Maybe this wouldn't be so difficult after all. Maybe this wasn't Hell--he was pretty sure Hell wouldn't do him the courtesy of providing wardrobe and weapons. Wherever he'd been sent by Saïx's last attack, if Saïx thought he'd be rid of him that easily he had another thing coming. Old friend or not, Axel was inclined to go give him a piece of his mind.
Well, maybe better to figure out where he was, first. Using portals when one didn't know where one was didn't sound like a good idea. Best to at least have a grasp of Point A before attempting to find Point B. Dismissing his weapons (he could call them back at the drop of a hat, after all), Axel turned and moved toward the door, carefully opening it to peer out into the hallway. There didn't seem to be anyone in the immediate vicinity, so he supposed it was safe to venture out. His guard up, his eyes alert, Axel stepped out into the corridor, closing the door behind him, his senses keen to all the new sights and sounds around him. First unitards, then dormitory beds... there really was no telling what sorts of things this place would throw at him next.

[So he changes it.]
So what's your name, sport? If you don't mind my asking... I just got here, so I get the feeling I'll be introducing myself a lot for the next week or so. My name's Axel; got it memorized?

[..there was no call me Ven, or anything like that. The nickname had long become a source of derision and mocking for him. He did nod at the other's name though, filing it away as best he could. A headtilt at the information that he was new, but - no questions about it. Just a silent acceptance of the fact.] Yes. It's memorized.

[Before the Organization, but after the fall of Garden? No, no he's pretty sure it's not that either. Garden, then? Think, think... The sound of something wooden clattering to cobbled stone echoes somewhere in his brain.
['You still play with toy swords? That's cute. ... What's your name?'
'Ventus.'
'Okay, Ventus. Let's fight!']
Ah! [His eyes snap open wide and he slaps a fist against his palm.] Ventus! [Now he remembers! He's that kid he met that day he and Isa first tried to break into the castle! ... Oh, man, and he kicked his butt back then, too.] Ventus? Really? Wow, how long has it been...? [So... is this guy what Roxas will look when he grows up? Maybe sans blindfold. Axel's suddenly that much more curious about the blindfold, honestly, and comes down off the stairs, approaching Ventus.] Man, what happened to you after that day? I never saw you again. [Granted, Garden fell not too long after that, but... he hadn't seen Ventus again anywhere.]

Either way, Ventus blinked under the blindfold, backing back just a fraction, this person knew him? Ventus was sure that he'd never heard a voice like that before. Still, he didn't ask. Just a head tilt and a small, curious sound. What did Axel mean by 'How long has it been?' Was he connected to his past of lies and betrayals?
But - even if he was, it was doubtful that Ventus remembered. Most of his memories were pushed away, out of mind's eye - down where the last vestiges of who he was lay. Safe, untouched by the darkness.
Unreachable by Ventus and covered in a thick layer of dust.
What memories remained had been twisted by lies and half truths over the years, twisted to fit his Vanitas' purposes in keeping the light chained in the darkness.] Uh...
[Another step back. Ventus is unsure and it shows. Of course, stepping back means another step down. though Ventus doesn't stumble much, simply tightens his grip on the rail.] I don't know. Maybe you've mistaken me for another. I'm sorry.

[Ventus takes another step back, actually moving down a step, and Axel stops dead in his tracks, throwing his hands up in a placating gesture, though he isn't really sure Ventus can see it.]
Whoa, hey, take it easy... I'm not here to fight you or anything. [That had just been a game back then! No one had gotten hurt either way! He shakes his head.] Wait, what are you talking about? There can't possibly be another guy named Ventus who looks like you... [... Can there? Is it a common name?] We met about ten years ago, in the central square of Radiant Garden... didn't we? I ah... I went be Lea back then. Long story. [I told you we were friends; I told you to get it memorized. Did you really forget?
[This is suddenly a little awkward. And very weird.]
