[OPEN - Backdated!]
Characters: Sora and whoever wants to run into him!
Setting: Throughout the tower - you decide! BACKDATED to March 14th or 15th (please specify a day, too!)
Format: Action preferred, but prose is fine.
Summary: Sora may not have the right face right now, but he can't just sit around all day - and he's bound to run into plenty of people.
Warnings: None!
[It was very tempting to find some place to hide out, to keep to himself until this was over. Sora didn't like looking like this - didn't like scaring his friends, having people think he was someone who would hurt them - but it couldn't last forever. There was no way. Maybe, finding someplace quiet and keeping to himself until this was all over was exactly wasn't such a bad idea.
But Sora was Sora, regardless of the face, and no matter how good the idea seemed he was terrible at keeping to himself. He just couldn't do it - he felt uncomfortable, knowing what everyone else probably saw when they looked at him, but...well, it wasn't like hiding out would make this go away any faster. So, for the next few days, he can be found wandering the tower as usual, searching for answers...or maybe even someone to talk to. It wasn't like anything that bad could happen just because he looked different.
Or, at least, he hoped not.]

[either day is fine with me; Axel arrived on the 11th]
Who's there? [The stairwells were kind of dark--he conjured a little ball of flame to one hand in an effort to shed a little light on whoever else was there with him.] ... Ah? [Well. That certainly wasn't who he expected. Sora again? No, this kid's hair was a lot darker, and his eyes... Axel knew well enough what those yellow-gold eyes meant, but this kid had Sora's face. What the hell was going on? He didn't summon his weapons, but his posture was guarded.] Who're you?
March 14th
He is still not entirely certain what had led to his changed appearance - it was certainly possible that it had been caused by prolonged exposure to the Darkness, maybe even probable considering what their experiments back home had amounted to... but there was no way for him to be sure just yet.
It was just a theory right now after all, one that needed to be tested... through an experiment perhaps?]
14th - hall?
He... must not have seen Sora yet because he just fired one off. Oops!]
and I am the latest
This was one of those moments where it hit Sora just how terrible the idea of wandering around looking like this really was.
What was he supposed to do, when meeting someone new like this? Act normal? But...what if they ran into Vanitas later, and had no idea what they were dealing with? So...should he act like him? No, that's a terrible idea! But what else can he do?
Since he hasn't quite figured that out yet, all that comes out is a simple, amazingly eloquent--]
...Um.
[So smooth, Sora.
...but, he might as well just go with acting normal, if he can't think of any better ideas.]
I'm Sora. Who're you?
[Totally normal meeting-someone conversation, right? Right, okay.]
nope! i'm later! i had no net for a while, sorry!

There weren't, thankfully, but...well, there was somebody. Sora wasn't so sure about starting a conversation right now, though, so he pretended to be really interested in a mostly-empty shelf within Apprentice!ku's line of sight.
He couldn't help glancing over at the guy every now and then, though. Something about him seemed kind of familiar - not the way he looked, but something else. Sora couldn't explain it, and that's why he couldn't bring himself to leave yet.]

Suddenly, a weird ball of flame headed his way? Guess who's about to spontaneously learn Dodge Roll, because that's exactly what he does to avoid that thing. He's about to summon his Keyblade (even though he'd rather not, since even THAT looks wrong right now), but he doesn't when he realizes where it came from.]
Riku?
[You don't look so good, best friend. Have a very concerned-looking Sora heading your way, while suddenly forgetting about his current...situation. Whoops.]
♥
[It's not that he doesn't agree - actually, he does, completely - but he's still confused. Mostly because he has no idea who this guy is, yet he seems to know him. If he was lost about how to handle this conversation before, now he's...extra-lost.]
Yeah, you're right, I don't usually look like this. But how do you know that?
no subject
[There's a certain harshness in his tone, and when he looks over his shoulder, he narrows his eyes. Sorry, bro. He doesn't realize it's you.]

He turns a page of the book he is holding, frowning as he processes the content of the page. While what he has read so far is certainly interesting... it's not really getting him anywhere. Maybe... some of the other residents could be... helpful though.
Finally, the next time he feels that boy glancing at him, he turns his head just in time to catch his eyes.]
...Do you require any assistance?
no subject
Sora stares a bit blankly at the man for the minute, while the shock of getting caught wears off and he, once again, questions how exactly he should be acting at a time like this. The man doesn't seem all that worried about how Sora looks right now, though, and he is pretty curious about why the guy seems so familiar...
Okay. He'll just talk to him. No big deal, right?
Well, he hoped it wouldn't be, anyway. Sora shakes his head, glancing back at the bookshelf.]
Nah, I'm okay. I was just...looking.
[At the books, he means. On the almost completely empty shelf. Clearly.]
no subject
Oh.
Wait.
Excuse Sora, he needs to mentally keysmash in frustration and what do for a minute at being reminded of the mess he's currently in. He wants to find out if something's wrong with Riku, but...how's he going to explain this, first?
Okay, well, saying something might be a good place to start.
Yeah, let's go with that.]
It's just me! Sora!
[Maybe Riku will just believe him? That would be good. That would be really good.]
no subject
[Well, that seems to have snapped him out of his mood for a moment. At any rate, he stumbles back and stares, completely silent for a few seconds.
He's not sure what to think here. If this really is Sora, then why does he look like Vanitas? For all he knows, this could be a trick.]
...If you're really Sora, then what were we planning to do to leave the islands?
no subject
He wonders... had they met before he had lost his memory? But why would he be connected to a boy so much younger than himself? What kind of connection could they share?
...Curious.
He just raises an eyebrow at that rather poor excuse, but decides to go with it for now. After all... who knew what this conversation might yield.]
For what, if I may ask? Perhaps I can be of help after all.
no subject
We were going to build a raft and see how far it would take us! We were all ready to set out the next morning, too, on the night that storm hit.
[That's how Sora remembers it, at least, and he only hoped that events happened the same way for this Riku, too. Of course, it's only now that he realizes that he never asked.]
Look, I don't know what's going on or why I look like this, but...I really am Sora, okay? I promise.
[Even though promising might not be enough, but it's the best idea he has right now.]
no subject
...to tell you the truth, I don't really know. I'm trying to solve a problem, and I don't really know how to do it.
[That may not have been the reason Sora was looking through books, but it was true enough. He didn't know what to do about the situation he was in right now, and that's why he ended up here. So maybe talking a little would help?]
no subject
But Riku nods, heaving a heavy sigh.]
All right. I believe you, Sora.
god Vanitas your expressions are all terrible for this
[His eyes brighten, and he suddenly has the happiest, dorkiest hopeful grin in the history of ever - an expression Vanitas probably couldn't figure out how to pull off no matter how hard he tried.. If there was still any doubt that this was Sora, well...]
Boy, that's a relief. I've really gotta be more careful, though.
[Having to do this every time he runs into a friend is really not fun.]
At least that one's kinda cute?
After the initial shock wears off, Riku relaxes as much as he can, given his current darkness spike.]
You and me both. Can't say things have been easy on my end, after all.
no subject
The raised eyebrow stays raised, as he leans back in his seat, one hand reaching up to touch his chin.]
Perhaps you should start by describing your problem.
