1st Duel

Characters: Kiryu and open~
Setting: Room 2-19 → dormitory levels → all around the tower
Format: Action to start with, but I'll match~
Summary: Peruvian death god servants are usually busy with planning the end of the world. Needless to say that Kiryu isn't all to happy to read that it has already ended... even though for slightly different reasons than everyone else. Oh well, time to explore where he's ended up at.

[Sleep paralysis is... not something Kiryu is particular familiar with. Neither is sleep to be honest... at least not in the last two years. Perks of being, well... not quite so alive anymore. Suddenly waking up and not being able to move is... annoying. Confining. And it does drag up memories of the time just before his death, when-

No way, he's gonna linger on that.

It ends soon enough, thankfully, and he sneers as he pushes himself of the bed and notices the skin tight cloths and the collar- Just what in Ccapac Apu's name...

Needless to say that Kiryu is not really amused.

Thankfully at least someone seems to have been thoughtful enough to have packed his proper robes, cards and duel disc; now arriving without those would have really set him on a war path. He may yet show mercy to those that had brought him here, if only for not daring to leave him without his deck.

...On the other hand. Maybe he would rather not.

Ccapac Apu's hunger for the living's souls never ceased after all.

He adjusts the hood of his cloak, yellow eyes gleaming as he exits the room.

Time to find out just who just had offered up their soul for sacrifice. Who knows... maybe they would make a good warm up.]

[The room was home in a sense. Home in that it resembled a house, or a structure similar to a dwelling. He's long since learned to do without a fixed home, living where he'd traveled, and eventually settling on the Keyblade Graveyard as more of a base than anything. Being inside a building such as this is a bit novel, but very dull.

When he wasn't walking around and investigating, he would simply sit and read. And that's what he's doing when someone left the other room... someone who could be a very potent ally, or a very grave threat. Either way, it was something that bore investigating.

He looks up from his book, eyes fixed on Kiryu as he walks.]

[When one grows up in the heart of Satellite like Kiryu has, it's rather inevitable that one develops a sixth sense, one that lasts even beyond the veil of death, the shiver running down his spine a tell-tale sign that he is being watched.

His eyes narrow as he looks around in the room, in search for the source of that feeling, gaze settling on that old man in the chair. Anger, annoyance and disdain flicker in his eyes as he glances at him - he certainly looks like some arrogant city geezer, thinking himself above any and all no doubt.

Finally he speaks up.]

Want something, old man?

[Oh, he's the sort of kid who falls easily for the outward appearance of elderly frailty. It's almost... disappointing. While he'd love to teleport over there and show you just what he wants, there's little point to indulging a punk with no use to him outside of that potent darkness within him.

Let's just play with him for now and see how he ticks.]

Depends if you have anything worthwhile to offer. It seems unlikely that you do.

[He is indeed - he is used to judging from the first impression; how else is he supposed to make decisions when lingering too long may get him into trouble.

~~Besides, you are the one starring at him - did you really expect him to react anything other than hostile? Creeper. >.>~~

Kiryu stares at him - eyes narrowing as he sees all these things he has been fighting, hating, his whole life (and been planning to destroy in his unlife): the arrogance of those that thought themselves better, that considered themselves the kings of the world just due birth alone, that thought they could control those with the misfortune of landing in the Satellite after Zero Reverse.

A moment later he is throwing back his head already, laughing like a maniac.]

Me offering anything to you? Priceless.

[He shakes his head as if truly amused by the thought, before stopping abruptly, now deathly silent as he returns his eyes to Xehanort, finally snorting scornfully.]

I have no idea what you want or kind of game this is, but if you think I would offer anything to the likes of you in first place, you are sorely mistaken.

[He is after all Kiryu Kyosuke; a man who only bowed his head when he chose to.]

I never claimed you would give anything to me. I'm just interested in your mettle, young man. You've got a fighting spirit.

[He has the haughtiness that Xehanort associates with those deeply steeped in light. The anger that burns deep in his heart is spot on, though... an easy inlet if he wants to see this one let go and cause some serious damage. He seems like the type, at least... a potential distraction if nothing else.]

[Yeah well, Kiryu is about as far from the light as they get, and he is more than ready to announce that to the world. Despite all 'haughtiness'. Or maybe rather because of.

He snorts again, shrugging slightly at that last comment.]

Wouldn't be calling myself a duelist otherwise.

[Nobody should either, really.]

And what manner of duels do you prefer?

[He tilts his head, eyes gleaming darkly as he pulls a card from his holster, turning it between his fingers.]

The best type~.

[A card game? There's definitely something more to it. Cards alone weren't enough to drive people so close to darkness, especially to the depths this young man sits at.]

And for the victor..?

[Cards maybe not. Five thousand years old god bound to said cards? Well...]

Depends on the stakes~

You don't strike me as the sort to play for anything less that a life...

[Kiryu snorts again, this time more amused than annoyed, head tilting as he reconsiders his assessment of the old man before him, regarding him now maybe just a little more curiously.]

...You are not your usual old geezer, are you~?

About as normal a young man as you, I'd wager.

[He throws his head back again, snickering.]

I doubt that very much.

[Kiryu is rather unusual after all and there are only very few like him. Their group might not be complete yet, but the man before him is rather clearly not one of their numbers. Though, there is maybe something similar...]

Though maybe you are close.

[They're not the same, but he's not picky. Darkness is darkness, no matter the form. That sort of division is more typical of lightbearers. All differences are shrouded and lost in darkness, after all...

at least the boy has a good sense of humour. That seems to be rather rare around here. He manages a bit of a grin in response.]

Perhaps we're similar in that we didn't shirk understanding true power.

[Indeed it is, though Kiryu has admittedly little experience in that regard - he only has seen the powers of the Earthbound Gods so far.

(But what beautiful power it is, how exhilarating that one moment when he had finally summoned it had been - hearing the sacrifices scream as their souls were ripped from their bodies, the sheer look of terror on Yusei's face as he could only watch Ccapac Apu rise from the ground, as he realized just what monster he had unleashed by laying One-Hundred-Eyes-Dragon - he couldn't wait to see it again.)

He takes a step back, arms crossing as he leans against the wall, head tilting as he eyes Xehanort, amber eyes glowing with curiosity.]

What do you know about true power?

[He regards Kiryu carefully, his own yellow eyes meeting the young man's briefly.]

The two of us are from different worlds. Our definitions and impressions on the nature of true power would be very different indeed. However, the telling point is in our ability to harness that power and make it our own.

[He keeps his head tilted as he considers that information - he is not going to take it for fact just yet, but he is not going to just dismiss it like he would have before.]

That so, huh? Then how do you define true power?

[He lets the darkness below his skin seep out, wreathing himself in it just slightly, although he does not call his blade. Just for a brief moment, probably enough for anyone sensing darkness in the vicinity to freak out, before calling it back, hiding it all away smoothly.]

That, young man, would be telling.

[Which does sound a lot better than "a giant heart-shaped moon" but shhhh]

[Kiryu snorts, lips curling into a smirk as his eyes seem to gleam purplish for just a moment.]

Hn... Fair enough.

[He nods in recognition. Perhaps they have some similar... hobbies.

How far to push things? A full-on demonstration isn't in order, but perhaps something. Something simple and casual with little meaning or effect.

He pools a bit of darkness, calling forth a Shadow, keeping it under his control for the moment.]

[Surprise flickers over his face, arms uncrossing as he crouches down to inspect that creature the other had summoned, frowning curiously.

Was this perhaps a citizen of the Underworld? Strange... it was... felt... different to his god, to the Infernity Monsters. He glances up again, curiosity blending with amusement.]

Neat trick.

[The Shadow wiggles its antennae nervously and twitches a little, but it's been told to stay on the spot and it's not moving... until Xehanort dismisses it, keyblade flashing into existance with a dark flare, and strikes it, destroying its essence.]

Simple creatures, though very effective in large groups. I thought perhaps a minor demonstration might help illustrate.

A 'minor demonstration', huh?

[He grins, then straightens, head tilting again.]

I suppose it would only be fair for me to follow suit, would it not?

[He turns the card that's still between his fingers a few times, looking thoughtful... then letting it disappear into his sleeve.]

Sorry. I don't plan to flip my cards face-up just yet.

[Especially since he's pretty sure that the old man hasn't shown him much of anything yet.]

It's entirely unnecessary. [Dismisses his blade once again before resting his hands on his back in their usual place.] When it's the proper time, I'm sure you'll rise to the occasion.

Heh.

[He smirks again.]

You got a lot of faith considering that we just met. Got a name, too?

You seem a young man with his priorities in line. I'd hardly say it's faith. It's certainty.

Xehanort.

[Shion blinked at the gleaming yellow eyes meeting them with his own red ones. He nodded at the person they belonged to] Hello. [He was smiling as he moved out of the way, to let the other person past.

[Kiryu stares at him for a moment, just studying the other for just a second, a detached sort of disgust flickering in his eyes. He is clearly not overly impressed and it shows, as he brushes past Shion without a world of thanks.]

[Shion wasn't too taken aback, though he was a little shaken, the other didn't make any move to harm him though so Shion just let him go. He didn't know the cause of the disgust he had seen in the others reaction but he didn't say anything, just watched as the other walked way.]

[Yeah well... Kiryu has no interest in interacting with cowards. Or normal people. Or really anyone who is obviously not a duelist. Of course, if Shion wishes to challenge him... ~~not that it's recommended, really.~~]
