if i were to be reborn, i would still run straight to you
Characters: John Egbert and everyone everywhere.
Setting: Floor 4
Format: Do whatever.
Summary: It's April 13; you know what that means. John's birfday.
Warnings: None
[Well Tower, John's followed up on his plans to throw himself his own birthday party. Along with his best bro Dave, the two of them have lugged a sound system out of somewhere in the tower, scavenged enough food to serve as refreshments, and basically did the best they could to make this a proper birthday party with the few materials they hav. Unfortunately, neither of them have ever had a proper birthday party in their lives, so it's pretty bare. But you know what? He doesn't careand he doesn't really expect a lot of people to come either because it's going to be the best party on the planet you guys, and really, he doesn't need one as long as he can see all of his friends coming together and being chummy. Awwww yea.]

She goes to seek him out without delay, too jittery to take her time or stay in one place for long. She can't just hang around John forever, though, and once her present giving is over with will probably just float around awkwardly. It feels like she's regressing to high school, but she can't exactly stop herself.]

[John brightened up immediately when he saw her floating in the doorway, and the two met halfway between their starting points, because both were making a beeline for the other. And yup, he just launches right there into a hug. Good thing Dave had disappeared -- where did he go to anyway? -- because otherwise he would have given the two of them all sorts of shit.] I'm so happy you came!

Of course I came. You're fourteen now, I can't tall you a tiny tot anymore, [she teases.] I bet you're tall enough for roller coasters and everything.
Here, by the way. [Holding out the present now. It was wrapped with blue geometric-patterned fabric from the work room and held together with safety pins and ribbon. Not a fantastic wrapping job, but she didn't have a lot to work with, here.]

She'd much rather be talking about his present and trying to dismiss any credit for being a thoughtful friend, because it makes her embarrassed.] "Got you a present", "went up to the media floor and hoped you hadn't seen this yet"... tomato, tohmato.
[Oh, and inside is a slightly used copy of Kick-Ass, for the record.]
no subject
[But he laughs at her tomato, tomahto thing.] I betcha I could play you that song on the piano. [Guess who came from a year before Kick-Ass was released? This kid. So he looks over it curiously. No, he hasn't seen it.] Doesn't look familiar. Thanks!

Oh, good, glad I was successful there. I watched it and thought it was interesting. Kind of a meta commentary on the whole superhero thing, but really cleverly pulled off. If also violent and swear-ridden. I am trusting you with an R-rated movie, buddy.
no subject
[His cocky grin becomes an expression of mock horror.] What?! An R-rated movie? Are you sure I don't need a permission slip?
no subject
[Okay, she has to grin a little at that, depression or no depression.] Since you're being accompanied by an adult, Mr. Egbert, we can let it slide this time.

Okay, he super stalled. Because he had no idea what to do. In the end he kind of panicked slightly. What was he supposed to get for John's birthday? Can he just do an IOU? Would that count? Ughh. Being John's best bro is hard and no one understands.
Eventually, he does return. He's got his hands shoved behind his back and completely failing the part where he's supposed to look nonchalant. He looks like the opposite of nonchalant.]

You are. I take back what I said about the bromance. And here I was, gonna give myself up with a bow and everything for your birthday. Way to ruin everything, jackass. [He's trying to look extremely affronted. He's failing.]
