[003 ∆ sonata of awakening]
Characters: Majora's Mask Link ("Forest") and YOU
Setting: [01] Floor 32, the new forest [02] Floor 11, the waterfall floor, then everywhere [03] Floor 5, the monitor room
Format: I'll match you!
Summary: These three scenarios take place on different days after the discovery of the new Tower floors. The third scenario takes place after all the others. [01] Link is exploring the new forest floor... as a Deku. [02] Link is reminiscing and playing songs from home... and accidentally makes it rain throughout the Tower... Oops. [03] Link is watching destroyed Hyrule and Termina on the monitors and thinking.
Warnings: n/a, unless you want to slide "hero angst" in here, since it's pretty well inevitable

[ 01 ; floor 32 ]
There's a small wooden... boy poking around in the foliage on this floor. His head is large and round, and his mouth is also round and protruding, and his wide triangle eyes are yellow-orange and glowing and, somehow, sad. But he's also wearing an oversized green hat -- it's just about as big as he is! Not that that's saying much, really. He's not even three feet tall.
If you're exploring the new forest floor or doing some hunting or just enjoying the peace, you may hear some rustling nearby. If you turn your head, you might catch a glimpse of sad glowing eyes from behind the brush.
Or, you know. Maybe you hear a strange, trilling voice scream and see the wooden boy running from a bobcat.

[ 02 ; floor 11 / in the hallway on the way to a network computer ]
Song after song after song after song fills the air. Link's feeling... nostalgic. Maybe even homesick. Not that he'll admit it to himself right now. It's just been a long time since he's played the songs from his first adventure, so he wants to keep them in practice. He wants to keep the memories of Hyrule and his friends close. That's not a bad thing, is it?
... maybe it is. Because he's so wrapped up in the music, he doesn't think before he plays another song. To be fair, the magic in the rest of the songs doesn't work, so he kind of blanket assumed that none of it worked.
He doesn't notice the first flash of light because he's playing with his eyes closed. He assumes the following rumble is coming from elsewhere in the tower. When it starts to rain, he thinks it's just splash from the waterfall.
... and then he remembers he's not standing close enough to one.
Link's eyes fly open. It's raining. Thanks to the lack of walls on this floor, he can see the lightning. Oh, no! W-Well... The rain must just be isolated to this floor, he thinks, so it's okay. It'll be over in a little while. Embarrassed and a little ashamed, he makes his way to the staircase. He tries not to look at the people he passes by, because. So embarrassing. Pleasedon'tbemadathimhe'ssorry!
Whenever he finally reaches it, he finds out it's raining on the staircase, too. All of it. And it doesn't let up for another ten, fifteen minutes. He groans. He... He should probably make a public apology... With a sigh, he begins to trudge down the stairs to find a computer hooked up to the network.

[ 03 ; floor 5 ]
The worlds... are gone.
That's what the monitors show. That's what the people in charge of the Tower say. Link isn't sure he believes it. He doesn't want to believe it, but... He knows that time is a strange thing. It can be cruel, it can be kind... But it is a powerful force that nothing can escape, and it is a force that he can ask for help.
It's hard for him to believe that the worlds are gone.
He runs his fingers over the blue ocarina in his hands. Sacred instrument, imbued with the magic of the goddesses... Sacred music, given power by the bonds between teacher and pupil, between friends, between brothers, between servants and kings. He wonders if there are songs in the hearts of the people trapped in the tower, too. He wonders if those songs are something he could learn, that others could learn. Music brings people together. Music brings hope.
In such a hopeless place as this, where so many people fight against one another... He wonders if they can hear the songs in the hearts of those they fight. He is certain that there is at least one song they all share: a song of sorrow, of lamentation, of loneliness, because their homes and possibly friends and family may very well be gone, and there isn't anything they can do about it.
Even if the worlds are gone, does that mean they can't be returned?
He can't claim to know everything about gods and goddesses. He can't claim to know anything about different worlds. But a goddess is a goddess for a reason, right? If three goddesses could create a world and grant any wish imaginable... If a goddess will answer the prayer of a boy and rewind time for an entire world... Then...
Then, maybe, there's hope.
His hold on the Ocarina of Time firms.
Maybe there's something they can do after all.

[ Yup, already been to Termina. He didn't stay long alright, but at least he visited. ]
You are entirely right. The tools have not been made because they were not needed. Don't you realize that the relationship you described between the Gods and the Hylians is the same than that of Parents and Children? Children will never grow if they live through their parents. Someday they have to leave in order to live. Hylians are too weak to live by themselves, and the Gods would never risk loosing their devoted believers.
[ Really, he'll always find a counter-argument to the Hylians and Gods. His disdain for them is limitless, he'll never run out of inspiration. He looks down at Link when he speaks though- ]
That's a big promise boy. If you want to help my people your way, I wish you to be more successful than my ancestors with diplomacy... But then you'll realize the fullness of that I meant.
And what would that way be, boy?
[ ... He's got an idea of what his idea is, but- Let's hear it. ]

[Link is having trouble seeing the problem in what Ganondorf said next. He has to take a moment to try and think through it.] It's true, the Goddesses are like the mothers of the Hylians. But have you considered that maybe the Hylians aren't ready to leave the nest yet, and that's why the Goddesses look after them still? [... it still doesn't explain the Flood, and Link knows it, and it shows on his face: his brow remains knitted, a small uncertainty in his eyes.
His expression clears, though, when it comes to his promise. His shoulders set, his chin raises. This is the look of the hero, of the boy-who-is-not-a-boy. This is the look of someone who is almost a force of nature in and of himself, simply because he has the courage and determination to make things happen.
He makes eye contact with Ganondorf.] I keep my promises. [And that's all he has to say about that.
... now... His shoulders relax, his chin lowers slightly, but somehow, this does not change the level of seriousness he possesses. He maintains eye contact as he says, slowly,] I think we should form the Triforce.

[ This eludes everything else from his mind. Yes, that is what he had expected but... The kid trusts him enough to g with that plan? Suspicious. Yes, maybe paranoiac, but Ganon can't help but wonder if he doesn't have something up his sleeve.
He chuckles. ]
When Power, Wisdom and Courage come together, the Golden Power... He who touches it will have whatever he desires granted. Surely it could restore Hyrule and free us from this Tower...
[ But he shakes his head. ]
Do you expect me to cooperate with the Princess? Even if I agree, she will never. Long before our births, our previous incarnations were fighting in a destructive war over control of the Triforce and long after her death destiny had her reincarnation face me once more. The hatred that binds our fates together is one that exists ever since the dawn of time and that will persist after the end of all things.
[ You have to thank Ghirahim for informing him. But really, he cannot imagine Zelda agreeing. It'd be like, wow? ]
You will need a miracle for the Triforce to be formed.

I'll talk to her. She'll listen to what I have to say.
It's been said that I would need a miracle to do other things, too, and I did them anyway. I really do think this is what could be what sets things straight. None of us want to still be in this Tower. Everyone wants to go home. I don't see why we should be fighting each other when we should be working together. Isn't getting home more important than that?

[ He pauses for a minute. ]
If you can convince her- Very well then. I shall assist you, and form the Triforce if that is the only way. But there is one condition you have to respect.
[ He won't bend of accept any further compromise- This condition is not a topic of discussion as far as he is concerned. ]
I will not be allowed to make the wish, obviously. But neither will she, nor anyone from our homeworld.
If this happens, you'll have to find someone neutral to our conflict. Someone residing in this tower, with a balanced heart. They'll have to side neither with I, neither with the princess.
Only if you manage to find such an individual to make the wish, will I accept to form the Triforce.
whoo sticky quest words
All right. That's fair. I'll search the entire tower to find someone neutral with a balanced heart.
[And then he does something maybe a little impulsive -- he holds out his hand, as if offering a handshake, and he smiles at Ganondorf.]
Deal.
it all starts now *_*
[ ... Handshake? Ganondorf's not sure about that. And certainly no smile. After a while staring at his hand, kind of surprised, he... Does shake it, quickly. Hopefully he's not crushing his hand in the process. ]
Very well then.
[ Since all's said and done, Ganondorf turns to leave. He's not gonna stay and become buddy with Link, there's a limit not to cross. ]
I've long awaited for one like you. Do not disappoint me.

... [Ganondorf may not be able to see it, but Link bows respectfully.] Thank you.
