Floor Fifteen

[He had been working on this for a very, very long time- almost since he first arrived nearly two months ago. It wasn't perfect like Daidara-san's work - no, not by a long shot, but he was finally putting the finishing touches on his own blade. Though, he had decided to take a break from finishing the hilt earlier... if the item beside him was any indication.]

Your Choice

[It's April 27th... and someone's birthday. He definitely made them something, but the question is... where to find them?]

[> You begin your search for a certain detective, but will it only be Naoto-kun that you bump into?]

Floor Fourteen

[He hasn't been to this floor for a long time, but right now... he doesn't mind the break. Yu sits in a corner of the room, watching others playing video games with one earpiece on and the other lying there, hanging off his jacket. People from his world may recognize the voice as "Risette," but really-- he only knows her as Rise...]

[So many of his friends have been hurting lately, and he has no idea where to begin to help them other than continue to lend a helping hand and an ear to listen. Sometimes he wishes they would see that he's never too busy to help them, but other times... What do you even say to someone who can't tell you the problem they're facing?]

[...Maybe he should join the others and play something for a change.]

Floor Twenty-Eight

[The music floor...]

[He really has no problems with it, the instruments sometimes playing on their own. But this time, he finds an instrument that he knows well enough- something he hasn't played in a few months, now. If someone stumbles upon him, they'll hear a single trumpet playing something both hopeful yet melancholic, just a little louder than anything else around.]

Floor Thirty-Eight

[At the end of the day, he can be found on the thirty-eighth floor, staring out the windows to the outside with his newly-forged sword at his side. The height doesn't scare him, and the view isn't too bad... but it partly reminds him of being up on the hilltop overlooking the small town he made so many memories in.]

[Yu is silent, simply sitting there in one of the over-sized chairs with a small notebook in hand. He's almost done with the account of their journey, one no one would ever believe aside from their own...]

[Yu removes the other earbud from his ear when he sees his best friend enter, a faint hint of a smile crossing his lips before he just shrugs it off. It would be rude to block out Yosuke's voice with the music, and he didn't want to anyway.]

I decided to pull myself out of the library for a change.

[Before he was accused of being even more of a bookworm.]

[He smiles at the joke, though Yu's choice of music doesn't escape his notice, and he's not sure what to make of it. Or what to even talk about. It's hard to pretend there's much normalcy in the tower for more than 30 seconds at a time]

So... you holding up alright, Partner?

[pitiedthefool]

[...Which he quickly pauses, now you heard nothing, Yosuke. He pauses for a moment, considering it all. How has he held up since they last spoke? Well... that depends on whether they mean just him or in general. Yu sighs, shaking his head.]

I'm alright. Though, I'm more worried about Chie and Naoto-kun. [And missing the others, but... his worry for how Naoto reacted when they ran into each other only a few days ago exceeded that feeling.] What about you?

[Yosuke lets out a sigh, feeling the tension he didn't know was in his shoulders slowly escape. If there's anything he loves, it's how easy it is to be at ease around Yu and just let it all out]

The same, I think. Not that I don't have my problems, but I'm at least not a wreck anymore. Besides, I'm still not even sure how to deal with the fact that Chie's not from the same time as us. There was a fun conversation to have. 'Oh, Izanami's here! ... right, you don't know her yet.'

[pitiedthefool]

[Yu nods, understanding that frustration all too well. He had to diffuse it between her and Kanji at the same time the day she arrived, after all.]

I know what you mean. It's partly why I promised to write everything down for her, and in case the others show up in the same predicament.

Yeah... I feel really bad for her. I think she's probably got it the worst of us.

[And he can't help the smile that tugs at the corner of his mouth]

She's so out of it, she gave me a hug the other day. You know something's not right there.

[pitiedthefool]

Mm... [Another nod, and- he saw that, man. He chuckles under his breath.]

I wouldn't know about that. She and Kanji were still yelling at each other until I put my foot down.

[Just like the old times... Oh, had he missed the normalcy of their violence streaks clashing in a bad way. ...Sort of.]

Huh... maybe it was just temporary insanity then. That's good - I don't know what I'd do if she wasn't her usual self at least some of the time.

[He leans back some in his chair, but the casual gesture is offset by the look on his face]

Just between us... I think we really might be in over our heads this time.

[pitiedthefool]

That, or relief. I'd be worried, too.

[He tilts his head to the side, though doesn't say anything right away. Part of him silently agrees, but another is stubborn and still in shock about the last time he ran into a certain someone...]

[> Like we weren't in taking on a god?]
[> What do you mean?]

[...] What do you mean?

Well... [He's hesitant to let his doubt show, but after how vulnerable Yu's already seen him it's a moot point]

What we did in Inaba - that was crazy. Hell, it was unbelievable and impossible and all sorts of words that mean we probably shouldn't have been able to do it.

And now the strongest person we defeated - a goddess - is stuck here with us.

How many more impossible miracles do we really have left in us? [He sighs] I don't know, I think I'm just frustrated. I've been here five months, and I haven't been able to figure a single thing out.

[pitiedthefool]

[Yu's silent for a moment, contemplating it all and choosing his words carefully. Yosuke has a point, but there's this annoying part of him that wants to believe in that impossibility.]

After all that, I'm beginning to wonder if the "impossible" is really only improbable. It wouldn't be the first time we've proved it.

It took us eight months to figure out it was Adachi-san, and another three to learn the truth behind it all, right? [He places a hand on Yosuke's shoulder. He shares your frustration, man.] We'll think of something.

[He sighs again, though there's the slightest of smiles to go with it]

Coming from you, I think I can believe it. Besides, if I don't get my confidence back up, the others might start to worry.

Though if I want to keep the free hugs coming...

[There's a faint spark of relief coming from him at that one, because really... what would he ever do if his best friend lost his confidence for good?

Uh-oh, there's that smirk again.]

Just try not to get kicked off the tower in the process.

[Even if Chie doesn't remember, he can recall how hard she kicks (and throws pails. owwwww......)]

[Yu raises a valid point - but Chie wouldn't actually kill him... right?]

[... best be cautious.]

I'll just be careful who I mention my evil master plans to. Besides, it's kind of nice to not be fighting with her all the time - even if the circumstances are just about the worst possible ones.

[Well, going from the fact that they didn't throw someone in the TV out of anger like a certain someone they knew? ... Probably not though it wouldn't hurt to exercise caution in whatever plans are going through his evil little brain...]

Probably a good idea.

[He nods in agreement. It's extremely nice not having to either attempt to break up the fights or just watch from the sidelines and slowly scoot away...]

Yeah... It's a nice change. [Here's to hoping it lasts- doh, he probably just jinxed it.]

[This atmosphere is nice. Much more relaxed. Yu, you're too good at this]
