❝hold your own, know your name❞
Characters Willow (
guiltapalooza) and you! OPEN.
Setting: The infirmary.
Format: Action to start, but I'll match if you want prose.
Warnings: Maybe some mention of past violence.
Summary: Though she's laid up in the infirmary with some pretty debilitating wounds, Willow's feeling a lot better than she has in months, and is more her usual self. Her magic is finally back, and she's welcome to visitors.
[Willow is currently propped up in bed, a stack of pillows fluffed behind her and the layers of blankets tucked around her. There's healing, scabbed scrapes on one cheek, and her right hand is splinted; she's wearing rather boring gray thermal pajamas, but along the neckline clean white bandages can be seen wrapping across her torso. It's not a surprise that with how battered she is she's also very tired. She's rather dazedly holding a mug of tea in her hands, cradled in her lap to stabilize it while she rests and not bother her injuries.
But despite all this, when someone enters she looks up to greet them with a sleepy smile.] Hey.

Seriously though, how are you feelin'?

Have a seat? There is a conveniently placed visitor's chair that my boyfriend has also conveniently vacated.
no subject
Well you look pretty good to be honest, so that's a good sign. So what actually... Happened? And I swear to god if you say "fell down some stairs" realize I'm going to have to go beat up your abusive boyfriend. [He's kidding, but only mostly because he knows he'd lose against a troll.]

I've been trying to keep it quiet, but... I lost my magic for a while. The past month, really. And someone that I'd majorly pissed off decided to get into a fight with me, which, well, I obviously lost. But I have my power back now, so he's welcome to try again when I'm not helpless. [There's an obvious confidence to her words at the end, a grim self-assurance.]
no subject
[He chuckles, learning back in the chair.]
Hard to imagine you as "helpless" though. You're about as tough as my no-longer-a-boy-friend, crazy powers or no, I bet.

Up until a couple years ago I was just... research girl. This is all-- new. [She waves a hand as if to encompass the whole room.] Some of it very new.
no subject
I guess my point really is... I think you'd make a pretty great hero, Will.
no subject
But... I don't want to be a hero. I appreciate the support, really, I do-- but-- [She bites her lip.] It's a lot of pressure. And I mess everything up.

I was, for a while, but they're kinda hard to miss. What with the destruction and the tearful arguments and my girlfriend dumping me over them. Sort of clues you in.
no subject
Yeah, I'd hope so...
Actually, speaking of tearful girlfriends~ [Snicker] You should have seen the look on Steinette's face when she learned what'd happened to you. I seriously thought there were going to be tears. It was pretty cute.
Oh, uh... Just don't tell her I said that. She'd probably strangle me.
no subject
I didn't think she... She just seems so unflappable. But she was flapped?

Though don't get me wrong; I was worried about you too. I'm just less of a protector-slash-huge mother hen about it.
no subject
Though now she's even more embarrassed, and is both shy and sheepish when she answers, hunching her shoulders and fiddling some more.] You guys don't have to worry about me so much. Well, you probably do, given my track record, but I don't want you to? I don't like making you worry.
no subject
Plus, we're both older than you and we both know and like you, so you're kind of like our kid. You know, without actually being related to us, and her and I ever having sex.
no subject
She tries to play it off with,] Maybe your redheaded step child. You might have to be jealous of that redhead I remind her of.
no subject
Though I doubt you'd be a step anyway; he - or she now, I guess - already has a kid, so you're safe from turning me into a wicked step-mother.
no subject
Maybe we can just stay not related. It's simpler and also implies fewer holiday obligations.
no subject
Though us not being related does make things easier; and less creepy considering you remind her of Spiritette.
no subject
I'm sure she-- oh, uh, I mean he-- isn't someone you need to be jealous over? [Willow's actually not all that sure, but she wants to be supportive, so she looks earnest as she says it anyway.] He wouldn't be with you if he didn't care about you.
