❝hold your own, know your name❞
Characters Willow (
guiltapalooza) and you! OPEN.
Setting: The infirmary.
Format: Action to start, but I'll match if you want prose.
Warnings: Maybe some mention of past violence.
Summary: Though she's laid up in the infirmary with some pretty debilitating wounds, Willow's feeling a lot better than she has in months, and is more her usual self. Her magic is finally back, and she's welcome to visitors.
[Willow is currently propped up in bed, a stack of pillows fluffed behind her and the layers of blankets tucked around her. There's healing, scabbed scrapes on one cheek, and her right hand is splinted; she's wearing rather boring gray thermal pajamas, but along the neckline clean white bandages can be seen wrapping across her torso. It's not a surprise that with how battered she is she's also very tired. She's rather dazedly holding a mug of tea in her hands, cradled in her lap to stabilize it while she rests and not bother her injuries.
But despite all this, when someone enters she looks up to greet them with a sleepy smile.] Hey.

But despite all this, when someone enters she looks up to greet them with a sleepy smile.] Hey.

But fortunately, he doesn't seem to interested to know how helpless she was.]
Not saying the guy didn't deserve it, but there's a bigger fish here that's twice as bad as he is. That's what I hear anyway. I ain't going near the bitch to find out.
[He runs a hand through his hair, which doesn't help its messy state any.]
Like I said last time -- they're a nutty lot, seadwellers.
no subject
And anyway, it's not that I want to fight Dualscar, it's that he wants to fight me. I don't go out and attack people when they aren't doing anything, not even the bad guys. [They have to really piss her off to make her do that.]
no subject
Yeah, and he's the second one I met that wasn't completely shithive, and I got along with Sollux. Relax, I ain't hating on him.
[He puts on a brief grin, and its hard to tell whether he's being ironic or genuine with those little spidery fangs.]
Everyone needs a little lovin' every now and then.
[He leans forward again and folds his hands as if he had said nothing, shrugging his shoulders at the comment about Dualscar.]
Its in their nature. But I guess you knew that if you fought him before. [A pause.] --you said you cursed him. You mean like...how?
no subject
As for the curse... I thought maybe it would help if he cared about what people thought for a day, so I gave him empathy. [She abruptly grins, proving she has some capacity for schadenfreude in there.] And I also made him randomly spout bad pick up lines. Like, unbelievably bad.
no subject
So like magic.
[At the mention of empathy, he frowns, suddenly suspicious.]
...does he know it was you? That cursed him, I mean.
no subject
I guess I never told you that I'm a witch, huh?
no subject
Yeah, you kinda skipped that detail. Long as you don't play those games with me, we're cool.
[He clears his throat.]
...do you play these games with him often? Not to pry or anything.
no subject
You killed or maimed anyone I care about lately? [she asks dryly.] If not, I'm not interested, don't worry. And no, I don't. Not more than I have to, anyway.
I don't like cursing people.
no subject
[A beat before he folds his hands almost professionally.]
You're probably not gonna like me telling you this, but there's a pretty good chance he thinks you're flirting with him.
[Another pause. Right. Human. He should probably specify.]
Blackflirting, that is.
no subject
Flirting.
She goes blank for a second and just stares at him. Then she slowly starts to turn red.]
Wh-wh-- what?! But that's-- he can't be flirting! That's gross! He's gross! And I'm taken and human and I totally don't want some guy that looks like my boyfriend's ex-convict dad thinking I'm holding out for him to kiss me in the middle of when I want to kill him!
[I hope you wanted a huge overreaction, because you got one.]
no subject
Did I neglect to mention the other end of the spectrum of troll romance to you? Let me answer that for you -- yes, I did, because your state of romance as a species is fucking weird.
[He opens hands modestly.]
Hate is just as important in our culture as pity is -- can be better, in my opinion, but we're not gonna get into that.
no subject
But I'm not... [A breath, and suddenly Willow's distress turns into out and out grumpy. Seeing as she's a tiny redheaded girl, this looks rather comical.] What about my extremely human face says, oh, this girl's a good candidate for hatemancing, I bet she won't care at all about the vast cultural differences! It doesn't even bother me that she won't have any sexual interest in someone that she loathes!
no subject
[He scoffs a little at her indignation.]
Relax, don't hurt yourself. Chances are, he doesn't really give a fuck. That's how most kismessitudes start -- one interested party, one not so interested party, flirting occurs and then bam.
[He snaps his fingers.]
Caught in a black romance.
no subject
And don't you quote Troll Lady Gaga at me, buster, [she snaps, huffing at him.] Cause it ain't gonna happen. No catching, no romance, no no no. Thanks for telling me, now his creep factor's gone up by like a thousand just thinking that he might be thinking it.
i'm so glad you caught that :')
[He huffs right back, but he can't wipe the amused little grin off his face for long.]
Hey, I ain't encouraging it. I'm just givin' you my professional opinion, from his likely point of view. Maybe you oughta stop coming on so hard.
FFFFF i laughed my ass off tbh
This is me having a problem with your -- insinuation! [She starts pouting, sullen at how much he's clearly amused at her expense.] Can't I just want to tear someone into little pieces without it being a come on? [Not that Willow feels all that violent about Dualscar on a regular basis, but there are certain moments where she'd be happier if he could fit into a zip lock bag.]
i'm crying over here
[He lifts his hands in surrender.]
Make someone ask him for you, if you don't want to do it. Or if you'd rather not know, well...
[He shrugs.]
you are truly magical for enabling this to occur
... Would it be a huge faux pas if I just told his moirail and left her to deal with it? Chidori and I get along pretty well.
0u0
[He's idly wondering if she should inform her that doing such could inflict quadrant infidelity but...somehow he doubts that Chidori would even understand the issue with that, or if Dualscar would care to point it out.
But then he's reminded that he cares about things like that, so he presses ahead.]
Might work. Might not. She'd be treading into auspitice territory. Might piss him off.
no subject
Well, if it comes up, I'll let her know. I don't want to keep things from her. Otherwise do you think I'm safe to just pretend it's not happening at all? I mean, if it's happening. I really don't want it to be happening.
no subject
[He leans back on the chair again and sighs softly.]
He'll probably just try harder, in that case. Doubt there's any real way to avoid it, short of making nice with him.
no subject
[There's a short pause as Willow thinks over his last comment, and maybe she's just desperate, but...] Do you think that would work? Making nice? [She sounds interested and a little eager, like she's seriously considering it.] Cause I can do nice. I'm even good at nice.
