Nightmares

Summary: Karkat's finally woken up from his hellish little nightmare.
Warning: Talk of torture, and probably really gross teenagers

[Karkat woke with a start, drenched in sweat and glued to his bed by fear. He didn't bother to sit up, unsure if another nightmare would start once he actually started to look around the room. What he did do was allow his hand to move up to his neck. No sleep paralysis. That wasn't a good sign.

His collar was there, but the chain that had been holding him in his nightmare was not. His hands were free. Maybe he was ok after all. He's still not quite ready to test the theory, so don't mind Karkat as he sits on his bed and shakes nervously for a good long while. At least his roommates weren't there to witness the pathetic display.

Eventually, Karkat does sit up, only to spot how pale he is in the mirror across from him. He notices a deck of cards stashed under an eightball on the nightstand next to him and sighs softly. He was awake...for real.

So why didn't he feel any better?]

[He gives her a Look.]

You're past the point of no return. We'll be here for hours.

[scalemate]

Oh, no! How terrible! Whatever will you do?

[caliginous]

I'm already doing it.

[Slowly. But he's making this happen.]

[scalemate]

Why do you care so much, anyway?

[caliginous]

Because its a sewerbeast's nest.

[scalemate]

Okay! If you fix mine, I get to fix yours.

[caliginous]

Mine doesn't need to be fixed. Your's is a tangled, knotted mess. Not even a homeless squawkbeast would want that nest.

[scalemate]

Jeez! Remember what I said about you never complimenting me?

[caliginous]

Well if you would let me fix it...

[scalemate]

Fiiine!

[She's going to stay still now, and wait until his guard is down.]

[caliginous]

...really?

[He's eying her suspiciously, hands sort of...hanging in front of him.]

[scalemate]

Yes, really. Just this once.

[caliginous]

[He waits and stares at her, expecting a loud PSYCHE. But when he doesn't get it, he moves to pull her into his lap so he has a better angle to...get all those knots out...

Hopefully without hurting her in the process. Doing this with his fingers is a pain, but he's not breaking his good comb, its the only one he has.]

[scalemate]

[There's some definite tugging going on, but she's a big girl and doesn't complain. She's sitting patiently and everything.]

[caliginous]

[He's wary through most of it, though eventually he relaxes when he believes he's out of hot water for the moment. Even with just his fingers, he does a pretty decent job -- she almost looks odd with the slightly stringy-though-much-straighter hair he's managed to unearth from that mess.

Pigtails maybe. He's pretty sure he doesn't have hairties though. Oh well. Next time.]

Now come on, was that so bad?

[scalemate]

Yes!

[And, yup! Lick to the face. Sorry, Karkat. Why would you actually trust her?]

[He flails backwards dramatically and covers his eyes like acid had been thrown into them and just...lays there.]

[WOW, good thing she licked him, he was going to be rude! But now she's giggling at his over dramatic reaction.]

You taste delicious, Karkat!

[caliginous]

Terezi.

[1...2...nope, he has nothing.]

What the hell.

[scalemate]

[She laughs again, laying down beside him and snuggling close.]

You were just whining because I never complimented you! Jegus, you're never happy.
