☆ World of Illusions
Characters: The Anguished One and open!
Setting: Floor Twelve- the space floor.
Format: Will match you~
Summary: AO hasn't explored the tower very far, and is suddenly regretting doing it alone.
Warnings: A star being very, very horrified and depressed and confused.
Alcor had adjusted to the tower relatively quickly, in truth. He had quickly begun to balance his budding emotions with his own curiosity, so as not to overwhelm himself- a tactic he had only learned through the Shining One's entrance in to his being. He was not perfect, however, and did not completely understand the depths of his own feelings. He had decided to explore the floors of the tower one at a time, and thus far had met little that could sway his feelings to any sort of horrible depths. Until, of course, he hovered in to floor 12. For the smallest moment, he had thought that somehow he was back where he belonged, amongst his fellow stars.
And then that flash of light came, and he watched with mounting horror and fear as life was wiped out.
Alcor hadn't realized he had moved at all until he felt the floor- there was one, after all -under his knees. He'd collapsed completely, it seemed, even if he seemed to realize deep in the back of his head that such was bizarre. That detached part of him was confused by the sudden irritation in his eyes, even if nothing came out. It was like his body was seeking to emulate humanity's behavior when in despair. In a way, that made him feel twice as distressed, and he managed to push himself shakily to standing. But even with his feet on the ground, arms hugging his elbows and knees pressed together...he didn't feel right.
Why was he behaving like this? Was it the influence of those he'd watched so closely...? Had the Shining One affected him so deeply? Or...had this all been within him all along, and he'd only just realized?
It didn't matter. What did was the sickening display taking place all around him, watching as life ended on repeat all across the universe. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to leave, or even move from his spot. He simply remained in the center of the room, quivering like a leaf in the breeze and watching.

Link is not sure how to help someone who seems so thoroughly lost. ]
... But everyone is capable of falling. Even the Gods can make mistakes. If that is the case... then you must pick yourself back up, eventually. Even if it is difficult.

The Shining One would have laughed. I'm a fallen star...how amusing.
[Alcor shook his head, seeming to steady from the thought, eyes shut tight and trying to smile.]
It feels...as if I have spent all of my time, picking myself up. I suppose this is how man feels every day. I should have no room to...
[His eyes opened, and his face drew blank.]
...to claim empathy. I haven't felt the same trials as mankind.

What a strange being. But Link... knew many different beings. All of them had their own troubles, even the Sages. And they were certain even the Goddesses had difficulties, if Hylia's trials and tribulations were true.
So, they shake their head. ]
... I would not necessarily think that is fair to say, either. Comparing one's troubles does not make them go away. But that is how people learn. Through trial and hardship. I would not think...you would be any different.
[ ... So, Link tries to offer Alcor a hand up. If he should take it, at least. ]
no subject
...perhaps you are right.
[He took the hand, the tremor running through his hand stilling gradually. Once properly righted, Alcor immediately took to hovering as usual; standing was simply too...strange for him.]
And what of you? You are not a human, and yet you feel close to them.
no subject
If you mean by birth, I am Hylian.
[ Though the smile on Link's face is quite obvious to say that they're really not that different, in their mind.
Granted, the only difference between true Hylians and humans is that Hylians were most in-tune with the Goddesses and magic, and so-rumored to even hear their voices. ... True, one hundred percent Hylians, mind you. Though Link was raised around a fair bit of magic and considers their heritage mostly Kokiri by adoption. Forest Spirit. ]

[A pause, as Alcor absorbs this information.]
To think there could be such a variety of worlds...what is it like? I've only seen the times of mankind, and those have stretched towards technology and communication focus. Are things different?
[Maybe in this other place, Alcor never gifted people with language, so their ears grew...? No that was just silly.]
no subject
Link was raised as a Kokiri, and did not find out they WEREN'T Kokiri until much later! What to do...? ]
... I am afraid I... do not know much about my own people. I was not raised by Hylians...
[ Link frowns, but thinks about what they DO know. ]
... As far as I know, we are not that different. Though I can only speak for the timeline in which I am from.
From what I have heard, humans do not coexist with many different species, or with magic, like we do. I have gotten a great deal of disbelief at having fairies with me, as well, and at the concept of a great deal of things. ... And I admit much of the things they call 'technology' has confused me...
[ It's a little sad, actually. It makes Link sad people don't believe in very obvious things. It also confuses Link how these terminals work, and how headphones work... ]

However, fear not. Fairies are no stranger to me. If anything, I could agree that technology is a strange and confusing subject. I've not had much time to keep up with man's innovations.
[The subject seemed to have stilled the star's trembling fears, if nothing else. He didn't even seem aware of his surroundings anymore, too engrossed in the subject of worlds. It was always comforting to hear such things still persisted.]

Truthfully, I am usually quite adaptable, but the things here are... very unlike what is in my home. For example, a friend of mine communicates with me by using a very special song; there is no need for a... go-between.
... I suppose this lines up with what Arthur told me, though--that most humans simply cannot see the obvious...

[He managed to hum a bar of something, before closing his eyes in contentment.]
I am glad that music has pervaded. It is one of my favorite languages, if I were forced to choose.
no subject
... Music is one of the most important things to the people who raised me. There is music in everything. It is truly a powerful, emotional sort of language... there is nothing quite like it.
If one listens to the wind, even it whistles after a time. If one glances to the grass and opens their ears, it will tell you what has happened to its friends across a field.
Music is powerful.
