☆ World of Illusions
Characters: The Anguished One and open!
Setting: Floor Twelve- the space floor.
Format: Will match you~
Summary: AO hasn't explored the tower very far, and is suddenly regretting doing it alone.
Warnings: A star being very, very horrified and depressed and confused.
Alcor had adjusted to the tower relatively quickly, in truth. He had quickly begun to balance his budding emotions with his own curiosity, so as not to overwhelm himself- a tactic he had only learned through the Shining One's entrance in to his being. He was not perfect, however, and did not completely understand the depths of his own feelings. He had decided to explore the floors of the tower one at a time, and thus far had met little that could sway his feelings to any sort of horrible depths. Until, of course, he hovered in to floor 12. For the smallest moment, he had thought that somehow he was back where he belonged, amongst his fellow stars.
And then that flash of light came, and he watched with mounting horror and fear as life was wiped out.
Alcor hadn't realized he had moved at all until he felt the floor- there was one, after all -under his knees. He'd collapsed completely, it seemed, even if he seemed to realize deep in the back of his head that such was bizarre. That detached part of him was confused by the sudden irritation in his eyes, even if nothing came out. It was like his body was seeking to emulate humanity's behavior when in despair. In a way, that made him feel twice as distressed, and he managed to push himself shakily to standing. But even with his feet on the ground, arms hugging his elbows and knees pressed together...he didn't feel right.
Why was he behaving like this? Was it the influence of those he'd watched so closely...? Had the Shining One affected him so deeply? Or...had this all been within him all along, and he'd only just realized?
It didn't matter. What did was the sickening display taking place all around him, watching as life ended on repeat all across the universe. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to leave, or even move from his spot. He simply remained in the center of the room, quivering like a leaf in the breeze and watching.

I am glad he is peaceful within you. Not many hold the potential to quell the torment of Thanatos. His being is one with much sorrow...

It might have to do with me having Death for so long. He doesn't seem that sorrowful to me, though. He could be, if he wanted to. I just don't think he wants to. I'm trying to get better at listening to him - I've only recently been able to summon him.

[Death was important. Possibly one of the most important forces in the universe, even to one with access to the Record. It was only through that force that he was able to urge mankind on to thwart their demise.]
...though, I cannot imagine his emotions on the matter of this tower. A place void of the grace of passing on...

[He looks down a little bit.]

[This would explain the shortness he felt, not Thanatos's presence.]
Surely, there is something awaiting- if not for you, then for those you hold dear.

[Too many ways.]

That is all you need here, then. I am glad not everyone has resigned themselves to defeat.
