the cat that crossed your path [open]
Characters: A dead scientist, a deadly phantasm, and everyone else.
Setting: The infirmary.
Format: Starting with action, but whatever will be will be.
Summary: Whoops. Lloyd failed his saving roll and now something else is lording over the infirmary in his place.
Warnings: Deaaaaath.
[The infirmary has shut down entirely during the blackout. This is unsurprising, since that's the same as the rest of the tower. There is, however, a tiny source of brightness in the pitch blackness within. A beam of light is pointed towards the open doors, streaking faintly across the hall outside to the far wall. A peek in will prove that is must be a flashlight, considering the size and shape. It sits on the floor. On the floor, which didn't quite fit where a flashlight should be.
With the rest of the room so dark, though, there's no telling what else is in there.
Nothing within is stirring or making any noise, though, so hey. Free flashlight.]

SCIENCE PARTY
SCIIIIENCE 9OAO9
OOC: DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO DA DOO. WEIRD SCIENCE.
[Who could have left a flashlight on the floor? How long has it been sitting here? It's been what, three days, since the power went out, and there's no way that someone could just leave a flashlight there and someone else decides not to pick it up. People just don't work that way.]
[Unfortunately, as much as he tries to deny it, Ienzo is in fact a person, and so of course he ventures deeper into the room.]

Something else sprawled on the floor...]

His eyes are, thankfully, shut; his expression, slack. The collar around his neck is devoid of any color at all.]
OOC: Ienzo is the worst horror-movie murder witness ever
...
[...What? Stop looking at me that way, what did you...]
[Oh.]
[You... expected him to scream.]
[Pff ahaha that's a good one! Scream... No, he's not screaming, just standing there attempting to figure out what's going on. It soon becomes apparent that the person isn't breathing, and the collar has been drained... curious. Perhaps the collar is some kind of lifeblood? That would explain why it can't be taken off by normal means, to prevent people from killing themselves...]

So disappoint, Ienzo. Why you no scream. While Ienzo is busy investigating the rather dead scientist, there is a sound from elsewhere in the room. It's soft, organic, not something sharp like another falling medical instrument or flashlight, but still audible in the silent and dark facility.]
no subject
[In his experience, sudden noises usually mean something is about to blow up, so Ienzo dismisses the corpse for the moment and turns around, checking the area for what could have caused it. Didn't sound like something was falling, but...]

[Honestly. He doesn't scream, he picks up suspicious objects, he approaches ghostly cats... this kid is so genre blind it hurts.]

It strolls right up to him and sniffs him, then rubs its head against the boy's knee, affectionate as can be. Too bad this is only going to make Ienzo's condition worse.]
no subject
[Unfortunately, Ienzo does not have an icon to accurately convey the pain he is suffering right now. Almost immediately afterward his arms and legs give out, leaving the normally dignified-looking child curled up in a shivering ball on the floor, with THAT CAT. OHGOD THE CAT.]
no subject
It likes people.
It doesn't understand what is wrong.
So it does what cats do best and lays down next to him, near his head, and purrs. A distant, echoing purr to help Ienzo drift off...]
no subject
[Not anymore.]
...A-argh!
[Of course it comes out very choked towards the end. Ouch. That's gotta hurt... his... throat...]
...
[Or, in other words: BOOM HEADSHOT]

Until now. ]
Who are you. Show yourself.
[ Of course, talking to voices was something he does often. ]

The angel walks over to the light, bending down to pick it up. ]

So he goes over to investigate, kneeling down beside him. ]
all my smiling icons are so inappropriate for this thread~
creepily so. |3
Dead.
[ He inspects the collar. The tubes are colorless, for one thing. ]
What is the cause...
no subject
The cause is... not at all apparent. It's as if he just died where he stood and fell down, since there are no injuries, no broken necks, nothing. Nothing at all.
While Castiel is inspecting the corpse, however, there is another sound in the room. Something soft, a quiet thud of some small thing hitting the floor behind the angel. In the cold, silent infirmary, it is more than audible enough.]

Any illumination from the flashlight that hits it goes right through, revealing it to be a misty apparition rather than a solid animal.]
no subject
Crouching low, Castiel keeps a wary distance from the apparition, watching it as it watches him. After a few moments of nothing, he frowns and walks forward, seeing as the ghostly feline is not doing anything other than stare. ]

Gripping his sword and flashlight tightly, he approaches, absently noting the chilling atmosphere. ]

What-
no subject
Obviously 'what' meant 'come over here, you adorable kitty'.]

What is an animal doing here...

Strange.

Almost as if summoned by that very revelation, elsewhere in the dark infirmary, there is a distant-sounding meow.]
