Room 1-03

When Wriggle first awoke she just stared at the ceiling for ages, expecting it to warp and change at any moment. The room was still though, almost painfully so. Maybe it was because she’d spent so long away from it, but it seemed somewhat more humid than usual. Sitting up, she soon found why. The floor of her room was covering in about a foot of water and blanketed in dying fireflies.

Letting out a girlish shriek she leapt off the bed and waded around in the water, trying to save as many as she could. It was a lost cause, most were already dead. Scooping up the ones that showed any signs of life she quickly deposited them in the take that she kept besides her bead.

The tank full of dead firefly larvae.

She hadn’t been there to take care of them, there was no where for them here anyway. With the sudden shift in seasons between her world and this they were not adapting. Biting her lip she couldn’t help the tears that ran down her face.

Any unrestricted floor

“I’m so sick of this place!”

All the stress and anguish had finally caught up on her and she let it all go on the thing she hated the most. Glass was smashed, doors were blown off their hinges, absolutely everything that could be broken she tried to break. Whether it was from overzealous kicks or showers of bullets she didn’t care.

Wriggle couldn’t stand to look at this place anymore. This was no way to live, no place to be happy in and no matter how outmatched she was, she wasn’t afraid of fighting anyone that got in her way.

Floor 32

Among the grass lay a short firefly girl. Her face was wet and red from crying as she let the insects crawl over her limp body. The warm breeze was nice, almost like home.

After her tantrum earlier she was exhausted but she just couldn’t find it in her to fight any more. She missed her home, she missed the abundance of bugs, she even missed being made fun of and getting beaten up. Anything was better than this.

America had been quickly growing fond of this floor, which reminded him very much of the forests at home and provided a relatively safe place to let his rabbit eat. It was on the aforementioned rabbit feeding expedition that he ran into the--girl? At first he thought she was a girl, but human girls didn't have antennae. She had been one of the ones to get a prize at the end of the game last month, hadn't she?

She looks like she's been crying, so America approaches cautiously. "Are you okay?"

"Well you don't look like you got hurt."

America is still keeping a bit of distance just in case he has to run off. You never know when that might be the best option, especially in a tower with a bunch of monsters.

"You were in that game too, right? On one of the other teams."

America took an uncertain step back. "Yeah, it wasn't really. But, um, is that what you're sad about?"

He had the impression the other pods had a lot more trouble than the one he was in. Nothing concrete, really, except for the way that one group kept coming back all messed up, but that didn't tell him much about the group the girl has been in.

America sat down, a little distance away but easily within speaking distance, playing with blades of grass. "I bet everyone wants to. We have to be real brave until we can get back and save everything."

"They're lying," America said--quite confidently, because England had told him that and there was no way England would be wrong. Anyway, he had actual evidence as far as he was concerned. "They did all that bad stuff during that game they were playing so you can't trust them!"

"I bet the people running the tower are guarding it," America said, this time sounding confident with no other reasoning than it sounded like something that might be true. "We'll have to beat them to get home!"
