Adjusting...

Characters: Hei and open
Setting: room 3-20, cafeteria, floor 32
Format: Prose, then whatever to match you
Summary: Hei reminisces in his room, cooks for himself and anyone who comes by, and tries to stargaze
Warnings: possible angst, and definitely epicly awesome cooking of Hei, blood from animals used for food.

room 3-20

He didn't know where he was, or why. Oh, there was speculation and information floating about, and the scientists made it very clear that they had every intention of using Hei as much as possible. But why now? Why here? Were they part of the Consortium? He couldn't figure that out here, not without proof. His existence, as well as Yusuke's, could not prove that the tower and the facility were linked, not entirely.
Right now though, more thoughts were raging in his head. He had been sitting there a good long while, head in hands. The experiments did not cause such pain, though they stirred much anger inside of him, enough that containing it felt like a crime. There were worse things however, such as the lack of those around him. Suki, Harry, Eddie, Madoka, and many more were gone from his life, most noticeably Lucy. Thinking about each of them was a stab in the heart, each memory attached adding an extra twist to it.

He at least had the faciliberry, a lone recording on it. But he did not wish to see it. Just a few seconds had hurt. Then there was the letter, the one he had picked up. Right now, it wasn't right to read it, not until he found her. If they really were bent on torture, honestly, he couldn't figure out which was worse for him: losing her and knowing she suffered, or witness it firsthand. At least the latter, he could be there for her. And she could be there for him.

He eventually gets up, tears not yet on that face of his. No. There were many times he wanted to cry, but it was pointless. He needed to find everyone and reunite with them, and fulfill the purpose he gained through fighting with those he could call friends, those he could call family. First thing to come to mind was the trunk in front of his bed. Opening it up, he had found his weapons: the knives, wires, and even the weapons forged by Eddie. Naturally, they were sharper and stronger than his own gear, which only added to his deadly arsenal. A shame the blacksmith roadie wasn't here, as Hei had thought of more ideas.

There was something else: a small case, with a note attached. Reading it was from the scientists, he crumbled it without a second thought and opened it, curious as to what was inside. Eyes widen, memories of the past, of the real Hei's past, had come so suddenly. Picking up the telescope inside, he examined it. It should have been impossible, or a perfect replica, but at any rate, this really was his!
floor 32

Unlike anywhere else in this tower, Hei could no longer feel the electricity flow around him. Probably a good thing, as he did wish for a break. It felt strange, having his powers be at full rather than cut in twain. He had been used to the limitations the facility had granted him, having been there nearly a year. Still, this tower seemed to have even stronger defenses, enough to knock him out in a blink, no doubt due to these collars.

At least the setting was better, certain floors with more variation than the facility could conjure up. And experiments appeared to be less frequent, aside from rampaging monsters and that horrific incident. There was nothing more he wanted to do than forget it, but doing so meant denying its existence, the pain he carried. He had to remember, to fuel his need to leave this place and find the others. For now though, that meant surviving here long enough for that day to occur. Right now, he had been occupied collecting berries and mushrooms.
He was not a fool, having been a chef and living in the wild back in his days as the Black Reaper. The food in the cafeteria, while he made it more edible, was still kind of subpar in his opinion. More ingredients and such meant more options.

Now if only he could find something else on this island/floor...
Cafeteria

This had to be a cruel joke. Hei's eyebrow twitched at the ingredients available. Such a selection was paltry at best, and require great skill to pull off. He did have it, yes, but to know that things were like this didn't raise his spirits up. Still, such irritation could be put on hold when he did realize he was back in the one place he wanted to be: the kitchen. Yes, he had heard of the oatmeal, and went to take care of that immediately the moment he got there. His stomach was not satisfied though.

And the dinner menu had nearly nothing as well, nothing that his stomach was willing to endure. Donkey meat was the best there was here. Fortunately, Hei had seen through this.

Which is why you can probably see a dead deer inside of the kitchen, and a quail as well. Those may want to get out of the way as he gets to chopping, using the knives in there rather than his own. Hands move with expertise, cutting the most essential parts for meat. He may take awhile, but it is very clear he knows what he is doing by skinning, chopping, and then cleaning it.

A few hours pass before Hei finally manages to summon something from the oven. Some nice yet small quail is cooked, the skin crispy and the meat tender, while the deer meat was to die for, sauce still dripping out the sweet flavor. He puts several plates on the table before him, and quickly begins eating. Those may want a bite of this delicious food, best ask him now, for his stomach knew no limits.

Of course, he had planned on saving some for a later date.

...what? [Her eyebrows have disappeared under her bangs in something between shock and disbelief.] A clone of me?

And you knew her-- me-- in that Facility place?

Both, I guess. Were you friends with her?

[It's too strange to have someone talk about you in the past tense. Then again, after she died, she bet everyone did that. She just wasn't there to hear it.]

Well...I can't be that same girl that knows what happened in that Facility place, but I hope we can still be friends.

It's nice to meet you, Hei. I'm Minako, but I guess you already knew that. What did the other Minako tell you about herself?

That all sounds pretty accurate.
