Characters: Karkat Vantas (AU) and YOU
Setting: Descending from the Cathedral
Format: Starting in action, but I'll match.
Summary: Karkat is being brought down from his small bout of insanity today -- do you find him before that happens?
Warnings: Flirtatious little demonic troll. Mind control. If Karkat feels cornered at any point during the encounter, there is a good chance he will either control your character to get them away from him, or to put them to sleep.
[Controlling Minato had taken a lot out of Karkat. By the time the other Persona users had arrived to take him down, he was already starting to feel the stress from the encounter. But never before had he enjoyed such a rush of power, and he found himself almost drunk off of it. He had paused to take a breather a floor or two away from the cathedral, one hand pressed to cover his vision eightfold to rest it.
He couldn't begin to understand why he didn't do this sooner, what with all the powerful beings trapped in the Tower. Maybe he could get them to fight each other. That would be fun, and definitely hilarious.
But first, he needed to get back to his room and rest his head while it was still early and his roommates were out.]

karkat's room
Alright, more than a tad. She was worrying to the point of neurosis.
Thank goodness he's actually here this time!
She knocks because she is classy.] Karkat?
no subject
That is, until the voice registers. His first reply, as he's climbing off his bed, is a bit groggy.]
And to what...
[But when the door opens to Karkat leaning languidly on the doorframe, his tone sharpens.]
...do I owe the pleasure?
no subject
She squints at him before straightening again, and then crosses her arms and leans in a little as if that will tell her what is up with him.]
Your status was less than favorable the last time I saw you. [Subtext: you were being squished to death last time I saw you.] I came to make sure you are alright.
no subject
Certainly. Never better, as a matter of fact.
[His hand comes to rest firmly on her shoulder, fangs poking out from under his upper lip.]
You should come in.
no subject
She glances to his hand out of the corner of her eye, but holds any remark on the gesture for the time being. She will, however, sarcastically comment on something else.] You are truly the most gracious host, Mister Vantas.
no subject
[That's a shame that you ignored that gesture, because he's now throwing the rest of his arm over the opposite shoulder to strong arm you inside, Kanaya.
Now, in matters of strength, even with his higher caste, she's easily twice as strong as him physically. Which is why it might feel strange that she's suddenly having trouble resisting.
It might be wanton use of psychics. Or it might just be her imagination.]
no subject
She doesn't normally think to refuse affection from Karkat, seeing as she is a little pathetic and clingy in certain ways. But this is still. Weird. This is weird. Karkat is weird. She gives an experimental shrug, which is usually enough to dislodge his arm, but it does very little this time around.
Well, she can't really do much but follow him now. She gives him another look that is part confusion and part trepidation.] What are you up to, Vantas?
[BECAUSE HE CLEARLY MUST BE UP TO SOMETHING, RIGHT.]
no subject
You don't trust me.
[He doesn't seem...particularly unhappy about that idea, which is probably a pretty big red flag. That, and the fact that he still hasn't taken his hands off her, for whatever reason.]
I'm wounded.
[Spoilers: he's not]
no subject
She frowns.] You do not seem very wounded. [There you go, Kanaya.]
no subject
But he keeps talking in that odd, airy tone. The more he speaks, the sharper his words get. If Kanaya is careful enough, she might pick out the hysteria lacing his tone.]
I'm not really. Not by you. That'd actually be something for me to be preeeeeeetty pissed about.
no subject
Her expression takes on an edge of worry. Despite his firm grip, she's not concerned that he'll hurt her. It's Karkat. It's her moirail. He wouldn't do that to her.
She raises her hands, and then tentatively moves to wind her arms around his waist. Her reply is delivered in a gentle voice.] I will make future attempts never to wound you, then.
no subject
[Karkat glances downward, brow furrowing lightly. His expression loses any trace of delight and turns suspicious and malignant.]
You would tell me if someone did that to you, right?
no subject
And I hope you would return the favor if the situation was that someone has wounded you.
no subject
Have you ever considered... [There's a weighted pause, as if Karkat himself is considering it the first time.] ...that we may be here a while?
no subject
Her stern look falters at that question.] ...we already have been here a while. A few seasons now, I believe. [Granted, her internal clock was probably way off, since this place didn't go by perigees or sweeps.]
no subject
[He now takes up a steady drumming on her collar bone. Its a shame his nails are filed to a point. A well-manicured point. Even in the tower, he has to keep up appearances.]
no subject
Especially knowing that they don't seem to be able to die here. In fact, she's never heard of people aging, either...
The sting of Karkat's dolled-up talons on her neck brings her closer to reality, but only marginally. Kanaya swallows, evidently troubled by the possibility he's brought up.] What brings this line of conversation on so abruptly?
no subject
David had tried his usual escapes--literature, music, writing, fencing--but none of it was working as well as it should. So he found himself wandering the halls more and more, for lack of anything else to do.
It was thus that he came across Karkat. He's...wary, as he is more and more often these days, but he doesn't play avoidance.
Advance or abscond?]
no subject
That should be the first thing that clues David in that something is probably wrong. Karkat was always fairly avoidant until speech was involved, but not today. Today, he approaches the human without care, with a grin that is far too self-satisfied and promises nothing pleasant in the future.]
Well well, Lalonde fiiiiiiiinally crawled out from his dark little crawlspace.
[He stops just a few feet away, probably too close to be comfortable.]
What's the occasion?
no subject
David takes a few steps back, trying to play off the action as best as he can.]
My presence in the open requires a special occasion now? My word, I must have been holed away for far longer than I had thought. In any case, what can I say? I simply saw it best to attempt to get whatever passes for fresh air in this damnable place.
YEEEAH TWO WEEKS LATE
[Karkat keeps approaching, running his claws along the terminals stationed at the walls to make a faint clicking sound echo through the stairwell.]
Could you blame me? It ain't like you ever make a point to do anything useful around here.
AND I AM STILL WORSE
[aaand that sure is mildly unsettling.]
I do what I can, though I'd guess that we have two rather different ideas of what constitutes usefulness in this case.
shh only crazy trolls now
[Sure is. He stops, teeth still flashing in that predatory fashion.]
no subject
Did you bash into something with your face? Or have you traded out for something?
wow i'm so sorry this is so late, work ruined my whole month
Says a human of all things. Did you trade your wit for a lazy eye?
[Or at least, he looks human. He'd gotten accustomed to assuming everyone was a human, with how many of them were in the Tower.]
