Characters: Sora (AU) and Aqua
Setting: Room 1-07
Summary: After reading a certain post to the network, Sora's seeking out Aqua for advice.
Format: I'll start in action and match you, Cee! o>
Warnings: Nothing!

[There are a few things one never learns about when being raised by a Heartless--especially a Heartless Xehanort. In this case, Sora doesn't know what a date is--even though he's been signed up for one. While he's a bit annoyed no one asked if he wanted it, he has no idea what a date entails. So he knocks on the door to Aqua's room before peeking in.]

...Aqua? I need some advice.

[Aqua is present, sitting on her bed and poring over her spellbooks, as is the usual sight when she's holed up in her room. She looks up at the knock, and upon seeing Sora's face, smiles.

Though...if he hasn't seen her facial scars a la Eraqus yet, he'll be seeing them now.]

Come in. What do you need advice about?

[Maybe not, but he's not going to ask about them. Especially since there are numerous ways to even get scars in this place. But he will come in and stand kind of sheepishly at the door.]

Um... What's a date?

['How about one date?'

She blinks a few times at the question, as if she doesn't fully absorb it. In a way, she doesn't. She's a tad distracted with the sudden decade-old memory.

She wonders if Zack ever became a hero.

As soon as Sora's question slogs its way through the recollection, she gives a small laugh.] Did someone ask you on one?

Someone signed me up for a blind date, but... I don't know what that is.

[He'll come over and sit on the edge of your bed with you, Aqua. He really doesn't know what's going on.]

Oh, did they really? [Without asking for his permission...that seems a bit shady, but maybe it's just a harmless prank.

She closes her book and scoots it aside so that Sora has plenty of room to sit.] Well, a date is a romantic outing between two people. You usually go on dates if you like someone as more than a friend, and want to try a romance with them.

You can still be friends if it doesn't work out, though. [Well, sometimes...]

Oh.

[Give him a few minutes and...]

...What's romance?

[Oh. That's going to be harder.

Let's start simple.]

Have you ever heard a love story?

...I was raised by a Heartless and most of my life involved training to destroy worlds.

[What do you think, Aqua?]

[Alright this is going to be really hard.]

I wasn't sure if you'd ever heard anything in your travels...

[And then she trails off. There's a bit of a thoughtful look in her eye as her smile fades, and eventually gives way to a veiled sadness.]

...do you know what love is?

[She poses the question delicately. He's right. There wasn't really much room for love in his life.]

[...There's a bit of silence. He really... Doesn't. He's heard about it, but... He'd never had time to interact with people before the tower. If he did, it was to watch them suffer as their worlds fell. He doesn't remember Destiny Islands too much, after all...]

...I don't know.

[She averts her eyes, not out of pity, but in thought. When she comes up with something, she looks back to Sora again.]

...are there people that you care about, a lot? People that you would be really upset to lose-- and they make you happy when you're around them?

...Yeah. That's Naminé. And, well, to an extent, Riku and Kairi.

[Naminé most of all. Riku and Kairi are good friends, but there's... Something special about Naminé.]

Those are the people you love. That warm, happy feeling that you can't explain, and wanting to protect them and have them close to you...that's love. [There is so much more to it than that, but she has to start simple, and she thinks what she's said covers the most important parts.]

Really?

[It's odd, putting a name to that. He'll sit there and think on it for a moment.]

Yes. There are a lot of parts to love, but...that's usually how you can tell that you love somebody.

But, not all love is romance. [NOW for the complicated part.]

It's not?

[Oh, boy, this is going to get very complicated indeed.]

No. Love is all those things I said, but not always romance.

You would call Naminé, Riku, and Kairi your friends, wouldn't you?
