Returning [open]

Characters: Shion and open
Setting: Room 2-12 and then cafeteria
Format: I'll follow you
Summary: Shion was sent back to his dead world for twelve days, now he's back
Warnings:

Everything was gone, Shion had known of course. He believed Reno and trusted him; knew he had been speaking the truth but knowing and seeing were two different things. To witness it, to walk among the ruins of No. 6, bodies stripped to bone still lying were they died. Even the plants were dead, the park he used to work with lifeless, the earth as barren as the rest of the planet. No stars in the sky, no sun; yet he could still see. It didn't make sense, but everything had stopped making sense when he had woke up in the tower.

It had been almost two weeks and despite the urge to find somewhere and curl up, to hide and hope he would disappear or die as well he had forced himself to go to the places he had known, not that much was recognisable. His mums bakery; he broke down when he saw the two skeletons there. His mum he assumed, though there was no way to identify it, and the bones of a child. The little girl who helped his mum sometimes; Lili her name was...

Had been... He had went to West town as well. The wall of No. 6 was crumbling, completely destroyed in places. Just like Shion had once wished for... but not like this...

He had went to Nezumi's home as well, even though he knew what he would find. He had to see for himself, to know that it was true. Nezumi was dead... He had burried his mum and Lili, Nezumi, Dogkeeper and the various bones of dogs. He knew he should do more, put everyone to rest but he had been too exhausted. Numb with grief and spent the remaining days curled up in Nezumi's home, among the decaying books and the robot mice that no longer worked.

A dead world indeed.

[Room 2-12] Shion opened his eyes, confused for a moment at the room he was in. It took a moment to realise that he was back in the tower; no longer in his dead world. He sat up with a start looking round wildly, half fearing that everyone here would be dead as well. A tower full of corpses.

"Reno? Xion?" He pushed the covers off him and scrambled out of bed.

[Cafeteria] Later on Shion went down to the cafeteria, realising how hungry he was. There was food now, which Shion was grateful for though most of it seemed strange to him. He took a bowl of Natto though and sat eating in a corner. Everyone seemed to have returned, the tower was full once more and Shion wondered how everyone was. He looked out for anyone he knew but nodded politely at everyone who passed. He was still shaken from what had happened but he was trying to be strong at least.

His teal eyes widen from the story. He hasn't heard anything like it and the fact that someone lived through a parasitic attack was impressive. The mark and the reason Shion's appearance was so drastically altered made him feel a little more at east to tell his story.

"I'm sorry. It sounds like a painful ordeal. The wasp must have been rather large." As a clone, Elian was learning more and more about what drives people to survive.

He was created for a specific purpose until his father discovered the secret and took him away from the experimentation facility to give him a better life.

"I guess, it's part of the human spirit to survive. It sounds like a dangerous world where you come from." Elian looked at Shion's scar and thought it as proof.
absolute_perception: (You're joking.)

Should he give the abridged version or the long-winded Professor Boredom one? He processed it, mulled it over and handed out the one that seemed to him as a happy medium.

"Alter power, or best known as Alteration, is the ability to decompose and reconstruct matter through mental effort. Only children born on the Lost Ground and less than five percent of the children born have this ability. Each Alter is unique to the individual that controls it. In some cases, the Alter has no real physical form while others take on the form of mechanical devices or have a mechanized shape by design."

He holds out his hand and makes a fist, the small mental push caused a random item to hit the wall that stayed there for a moment before he let it go as it dropped onto the floor.

"Some Alter powers use a natural element for offensive capabilities. However, this does not mean that using Alter powers has a direct effect on organic materials. Most Alter powers and users make a choice not to use living things to construct their Alters. It is considered taboo to do so." Elian was one of the few that possessed two different types of Alters, however one was severely under developed, while the other was refined and boosted to such a high degree that it has nearly overtaken his empathy.

"Alter uses are considered hated, non-human entities that should not be allowed to live in normal society." His voice softens, even a little bit, but it's enough to show his sorrow.

"My father's work was to bring about a peaceful co-existence, but his dream was cut short upon his death. As his son, I should bring about his dream and pick up where he left off."
absolute_perception: (Don't say that.)

No longer under the threat of being hunted by those that created him, Elian actually gave a gentle smile to Shion and hugged him in gratitude. The baggy uniform hid his very small, child-like frame under all that material. "Thank you."

Even if it was for a brief moment, Elian felt truly free for the first time in his young life. Used as a tool for both scientific research and gathering information, being classified as nothing more than a manufactured product for exploitation, he never understood what it was like to actually be free.

"Thank you so much." His tears finally dropped from his eyes. Shion was the third person to tell him that he wasn't hated and it finally hit him hard enough to react in a positive way. He took Ishtar's advice and allowed himself to embrace his emotions than toss them away.

With all this time around humans, Elian was beginning to understand what it means to be one. To feel connected to the world didn't mean that he had to be tied to everything or networked into the emotional web. To be human meant making mistakes, learning from them, growing, changing, adapting, and living for not just yourself but others. He was learning those lessons slowly.

Everything was so complicated. Then again, humans thought him to be complicated so the feeling was definitely mutual. He pulled away from the hug to show the face of a young boy that he was meant to be. He hopped off the edge of his foot locker. With renewed energy, Elian changed his HOLY uniform jacket for a loose fitting blue hoodie with a white dragon on the front.

"What kind of music do you like?" It was a start in the right direction.
absolute_perception: (I'm up for that!)

Elian's smile grew bigger. "Let's go see if we can find some. I want to hear everything! What would you recommend?"

Elian's training forbade him to listen to it other than on his off days since his emotions often shorted out the systems at HOLY whenever he was exposed to anything too strong while using his Sensory Projection. It was by his father's orders not to have music playing in the training areas while Elian was around.

"Alright." He didn't know Reno all that well and he wasn't about to make any assumptions about the other without further investigation. Still, this rock music idea sounded like a really good idea. As long as he wasn't using his sensory ability, no one is going to suffer any backlash from the Alter user.

There was a pause with a tilt to his head. Rock wasn't called rock where he was from. This earned a tilt from Elian. "What's rock?"
absolute_perception: (A little hard work never hurts.)

Elian eventually shrugged off the other questions. It's something that he'll have to experience for himself. He trots to keep in step with Shion, his legs being much shorter, he didn't have a long stride.

"Okay." Now it was time to listen to some music.
absolute_perception: (Yeah!)

Elian stopped just inside the door. His eyes scanned the room and a smile was beginning to form. So much information stored in a single area and to top it off it's digital, he practically was in heaven.

((We can end it here if you want.))
