[The residents of room 2-13 may be pleasantly surprised to find they've got a new roommate poking around! After the sleep paralysis wears off, Aelita is up and around digging through her trunk, checking out the rest of the room, and generally being confused and suspicious.

She'll get around to the rest of the tower eventually, but right now it's good to get to know who she's now cohabiting with, right?]

[She's out exploring the hallways now, and she's taken particular interest in the network terminals. Anyone watching will notice that she seems to pick up on how it's used fairly quickly (no accidental intro posts today, folks), but the longer she messes with it, the deeper the furrow in her brow becomes. Unable to get outside of the tower's closed network, she logs off the terminal in frustration and lingers for a while. She seems to be mulling over something, but then again who wouldn't have something to think about in this situation?]

[Her nest stop is the lounge floor, and she stays in the entrance only long enough to take a cursory glance of the chairs and beanbags scattered around before stepping out into the room. Aelita's positioned herself by the windows, one hand pressed to the glass, the other clutching the same introductory letters she received after waking up in the dorm. Her gaze wanders between the clouds above and the fog below.]

...I can't really be stuck here, can I?

[Equius stepped out into the corridor to find one pink-haired human girl standing around, looking at the terminal. Perhaps not wanting to get in her way in case she was recording some video post or something, he held back and lurked in the door of his dormitory for a while, but when it became obvious that she was doing nothing of the sort, he approached. Slowly. And not very quietly, either, so it would be hard for her to miss his footsteps.]

[It seems that she's a bit... stumped as to how the network works, which is not unusual for people who came from less advanced worlds. But certain events from the last couple of weeks have put him in the mindset that he could be jumped at any time by a murderer. So while normally he would approach her offering his help, he's just going to sneak up meekly for now.]

[At first she doesn't seem to notice, still scrolling through her options and messing with things trying to get something that could potentially connect with the outside world just to find nothing. She's somewhat reminded of a display model computer you'd find at the store; there isn't much to be done with it outside of the demo program.

It's once she finally pulls away from it that she notices Equius' approach. She pauses a second before speaking, taking in his odd appearance, but responds politely anyway. Who knows what people on this world are like?]

Oh, hello! Um... do you need to use this terminal?

No, I... I was wondering if you were having trouble with it.

[...Well, she didn't pull out a knife at his approach. That was a good sign. Probably, there was no reason to suspect this girl. Yes, she was perfectly innocent and Equius was just overreacting as usual. That's ~~hopefully~~ clearly what is happening.]

You know, I am actually. I can't seem to get access to anything other than this closed network...

[She doesn't want to get into anything too technical, because why bother a total stranger with the boring details? But it occurs to her someone who has been here longer might know more about it than her regardless.]

Yes, unfortunately... that seems to be all that you can do on these terminals.

[He steps a bit closer, now coming up to the machine beside her. A respectable distance away, though, of course.]

I've tried to bypass it myself. Nothing will work.

Well that's no good.

[Admittedly she isn't in the right frame of mind for any serious digging into the thing right, she'd be more likely to make simple mistakes than not. Still, it's the closest lead to contacting someone she's got.]

You're sure there's no way to get around the basic interface, at least?

If there is, I haven't found it, and... I like to think I know what I'm doing with computers. [He does know what he's doing with computers, mind. Equius just isn't in the right mood to acknowledge his skills for what they are.]

So do I. I'm never opposed to a little help, though.

[She takes a deep breath and turns away from the terminal.]

I guess I'll add it to my list of questions about this place.

[Equius has been here for months. Hopefully he's gained some insight into the way that the Tower operates.]

[ Hey, Aelita. There's a mechanical girl supervising the network a few terminals between you and she looks to be focused on the task at hand. Her fingers are making quick work of the keyboard and the screens fly by.

It's when her head turns that she notices someone else is there and moves a hand to greet her in a wave. ]

Greetings. Are you new?

[Nepeta had been curled up in one of the beanbag chairs taking a little cat nap. Tiresome day and all. Her ears perked when she heard Aelita's voice and she couldn't help but become curious.]

[Calmly, she pounced out of the chair, and made her way to the pink-haired female, grinning.]

Hello there!

[She pulls the two introductory letters out of her pocket, looks like she's had them with her the whole time.]

Well the first one of these was pretty thorough on how things work here, but the other one...

Our worlds can't really be gone, can they?

[Aelita perks up as she realizes she's being addressed. No one else in this hallway she' seen fit the demeanor of 'new,' anyway...

Whoever this is seems to definitely know what they're doing with the terminals, though, and she steps a bit closer to where she's working.]

Is it that obvious?

[ Sertoria pauses her work to greet the girl formally. Any other manner would be considered impolite and she knew that. ]

A little. I am Sertoria Cani and it is nice to meet you, miss.

[Excuse her if she seems a bit startled out of her thoughts at your approach, Nepeta. She was a bit distracted and the only person she's used to having that kind of cat-like grace isn't here right now.

Regardless, it isn't but a moment before she has a polite smile on her face.]

-oh, hi! Sorry about that, I was a little lost in thought.

I'm Aelita, it's nice to meet you too.

[She looks around towards the monitor Sertoria was working at. she tries her best to phrase her nest question politely as possible.]

If you don't mind me asking, what are you working on?

The pleasure is all mine, Miss Aelita.

[ Sertoria's eyesight directs over to the terminal and a small smile crosses her lips. ]

I am merely checking to see if my aid could be needed. If it is not, then I will be on my way to working on a project.

I see. Just standard network communication then?

[It really is impossible to do anything but use the tower network on these, isn't it?]

Affirmative. I would be able to do more, but it seems like my attempts are blocked due to no access points being installed on the terminals.

[ Pretty much. Sertoria has tried, but failed, to try to find out the inner workings of the terminals on her own. ]

Getting so much as a taskbar to show up would be a victory for me at this point.

[She doesn't seem to be in any mood to mess with the terminals much more, though.]

I don't see how they expect us to just take their word for it that the entire world is gone if we can't find out ourselves.

That's alright! I did just stalk up on you out of no where.

Well I was looking for a way out earlier, but it doesn't seem like there's anything I've done that someone hasn't tried already...

I guess I should've known when I ran into so many people before. It's just hard for me to not worry about my home, though.

[She can't bring herself to believe that they're gone. It breaks her heart to even entertain the thought. ~~She has indeed lucked out on missing the whale, this would hardly feel as pressing otherwise~~]

I understand, believe me! I worry about my friends back home too!

[She still refused to believe that everything she had before was gone now. ~~Then again, it was Sgrub.~~]

[She's turned away from the window by this point, more interested in the conversation than the fog surrounding the tower. Like it would have done her any good to begin with.]

Oh it's alright, it seemed like I was pretty obvious to most everyone else. How long have you been here?

So many come here, it's hard to keep track who's new and who's not.

I've only been here for about a week now.

I see. [She's able to muster up a smile in response, but it's not as bright as Aelita would like.]
