1st Lap
Characters: Aoi Asahina & YOU
Setting: Room 2-15, Floor 7, Cafeteria
Format: Action, but I'll match!
Summary: Yet another newbie waking up.
Warnings: SPOILERS for the Dangan Ronpa chapter that just wrapped up!
[Room 2-15]
[For a long time, Aoi doesn't get out of bed. There are some times when you just want the world to go away for a while, and now is one of those times. Her best friend was dead, and she had put the lives of her remaining friends at risk thanks to her own stupidity. She just... wanted to check out of reality for a while. Even with the sudden shift in surroundings, the brief paralysis that gripped her after... all she wanted to block it all out for a while.
So she simply curled up on her side and pulled the blanket up over her head. She won't even move if a roommate enters, though they'll certainly notice the lump in the previously unoccupied bed. Do they dare investigate?]
[Floor 7]

[Some time later, whether through prompting of a roommate or of her own free will, Aoi finally drags herself out of bed and makes her way down. Down, down, past many strange floors, several of which send chills straight down Aoi's spine... until she reaches this one. She stops dead in her tracks, and for the first time in what felt like days, a smile crossed her face.]
Whoa...
[She makes her way to the edge of the pool, her smile growing with each step, when she stared down into the water, seeing just how deep the pool went, she couldn't help but laugh.] Wow, talk about intense! This even beats out the pool at Hope's Peak!
[This is good. Very good. She finally found a way to take her mind off things for a while! She runs off to the changing rooms, fully intending to work out a bit before heading the rest of the way downstairs...]
[Cafeteria]

[And here's her last stop for the day. At this point she's remarkably more light-spirited, though her joy at finding the pool floor has dimmed a bit, taking some of the light from her eyes. Any hint of a smile is fully wiped off her face when she obtains her first meal.]
Yuck. Who gives out oatmeal for dinner?

If we're being totally honest with each other now... I have something I think I should tell you. [She looks... a bit uncomfortable, focusing hard on picking at a loose thread on her sweatshirt.] I know you'll be ashamed of me, though.
no subject
I cannot think of any action you could take that would lessen your standing in my eyes.
no subject
[She braces herself, expecting Sakura to yell at her. Or, at the very least, take back what she just said.]
no subject
As have many of our other friends. You, at least, did not do so with ill intent.
no subject
But I did! I-I tried to make the scene look like I was the one who poisoned you, so they'd all vote wrong and we'd all be killed! I even confessed to doing it...
no subject
You... you did? Why... why would you...
[Her voice isn't raised at all. Instead, it's unusually quiet.]
no subject
[Stupid stupid stupid. How could she not realize her own best friend's writing style?]
I thought that it was our fault. I thought that if I set it up so that we all died, we could repent for driving yo to that point... [If anything, she's crying harder now than she was when Sakura first approached her. She put all her friends in danger, all because she couldn't completely understand the person she was closest to in that school...] I nearly got everyone killed just because I was dumb enough to fall for one of Monobear's tricks!
no subject
...Monobear...! THAT BLACK-HEARTED VILLAIN! So if he could not punish me for my final act of defiance, he targeted you, the person I care for the most, in retaliation...!
Do not take the blame for anything he tricked you into! You told me the same earlier, did you not?!
no subject
Except... she feels so guilty over everything. She deserves to be the one that Sakura's angry at! Sure, it's all Monobear's fault, but even so...!]
But I fell for it! I should have realized that wasn't your handwriting, or it wasn't the way you would write a letter...! It's my own stupidity that almost caused the deaths of the others!
no subject
And I should have realized that interfering with my last words was not beneath him! I could not bear to tell you my intentions in person, and thus you were forced into a terrible situation!
wow I could have sworn I tagged this days ago...
Please, just... stop blaming yourself. I don't like hearing that, and you don't deserve it... If you won't let me blame myself either, let's just... blame that bear, okay?
[She'll still blame herself, there's no doubt about that. But at least they can agree on something...]
no subject
That is... acceptable.
[Sakura is likewise lying. Setting Asahina's mind at ease, at least, is far more important than retreading their respective faults.]
